5 Reasons Why Running Is A Great First Date

So you’ve finally mustered the courage to ask that special person out for the first time, but you are clueless on what to do and where to go. Why not ask them out on a running date? It’s a great first date experience. Here are 5 reasons why.

1. You know exactly what you’re doing.

When you’re on a running date, you don’t have to waste hours debating on where to eat or what movie to watch – you can focus on the activity at hand, which is to run, get to know each other, and have fun. And if you think about it, the fact that he/she agreed on a running date means you already have something in common, which is a good sign.

2. The mood is light and easy.

You’re not pressured to divulge personal information (such as previous relationships and whatnot) on running dates. You can just talk about your fitness routines, your hobbies, and other passions. If you suddenly find yourself tongue-tied, there’s no need to fill in the dead air all the time; you can just focus on your run.

3. There’s no pretension.

We can say that a running date brings out what’s real in a person – you’ll see each other tired and sweaty, and you’ll have a glimpse of how much you both eat post-run. Of course you have to be in decent workout clothes, but there’s no need for all-out porma. If you still like what you see after the run, then it’s probably worth taking the next step. ;)

4. There’s a set time frame.

A run just lasts for an hour or two. You can always leave right after (without any hurt feelings) if your intuition tells you that there’s no spark.

5. It’s a win-win situation.

If it doesn’t work out, think of it this way: you’ve widened your circle of friends and you’ve found yourself a running buddy. High five!
