Bad news for Smokers, and good news for quitters, non-smokers and those who are planning to quit for here is another reason to do so. The Department of Health (DOH) is ‘planning’ to increase cigarette tax by P4.50 per stick amounting to P90 pesos for a 20-stick pack, talk about cigarettes being bad for your health, now it’s also bad for your finances.

  1. Do it! Was a heavy smoker for years. This will make people think twice before buying a pack. I did too when I was in the US and a pack of Malboro lights costs about $7 ++ and about Php 350 in Singapore. I smoked less when I was there, which actually led to me quit cold turkey.
