  1. this is my worst run ever…
    this is my third FM…
    a record of
    4:23 @ QCIM last dec 2011 and
    4:24 @ Condura feb 2012…
i was expecting a finishing time of
    around 4:20-4:25…
really unexpected.. i clocked in at 5:55
and i really can’t believe it!
    —————————————–
But overall, i’m still very happy,
    for finishing the hardest marathon
i’ve ever had! the medal is great!
    nice finisher’s shirt…
And I thank God that He allows me to finish
the Marathon within the cutoff time…
    ——————————————
the best thing that happened is…
i’m not feeling any pain after the 42k…
my feet are in perfect condition…
Thanks MILO for another great event
    and unforgettable experience!!!

  2. Very teary eyed finishing my first FULL marathon w/in the cut-off time (5:54). I almost wanted to DNF twice pero sabi ng 2 Ambulance na dinaanan ko coz my chest hurt & i can hardly breathe, they can’t leave their post, kaya sa inis ko, i decided to walk/run pabalik na lang. The milo staff and some fellow runners at the finish line were very kind for cheering and congratulating me na napatigil na ako from running & i forgot im still 2 meters from the finish line tapos si coach rio sumisigaw na ng “6mins na lang, hurry hurry!” ha ha ha!!! But all in all it was a great accomplishment for me and all 42krunners who finished the race whether they got a medal or not….. Who’s up for another FULL MARY? ;)

  3. share ko lang… 1st 21km= 1.58, 2nd 21km=4.5 hrs. hahaha! dahil sa itbs nag alay lakad ako sa buendia. ang weird lang nun sa medal. imo, ang naka engrave sa medal ay “finisher”. kung hindi sla magbibigay sa lahat ng 21k and 42k, dapata ang naka engrave ay “finished within the cut off time”. since malaki naman yun medal, pwede nila isingit yan. all runners should be given. and accdg to my gf (na nasa finishline) madami pang medals ang natira na pinatago na after 6.10. may girl pa nga daw na 6.11 hindi bnigyan. inisip nga namin na baka sa dec gagamitin para tipid ang rio. hahaha! anyways, great run and sulit naman bayad kasi maganda singlet and shirt at 1st time kong mag FM at tumakbo sa tapat ni gat jose rizal. next year ulit!

  4. @QP eh sir, i didnt made the cut off for the 42k but i got the bag and the shirt? so mali din yun handbook kasi dapat wala akong makukuha??? hindi rin sya nasunod. la lang. heheheh. :)

    3. paper cups !!!
    4. on time gun start… naka sync yung time sa GPS ang oras ng runrio.

    results na lang ang kulang.

  6. dapat magpasalamat na lang tau sir juljay at meron ka at yun iba ay wala.. sa mga nagsasabi na sayang 500 nila… remember you are running for a cause, giving shoes to the children.. strive hard that the best answer para mameet ang goal :)

  7. hello guys, do you have an idea how much is the registration fee for the qualified runners on the national finals this december? is it thesame?

  8. @ jewel. been looking for you in the event, para meron ako buddy, pero hindi kita nakita. anyway, congrats din syo. see you on thursday.

  9. FYI:

the rules posted below is crystal clear:

Note: All 21-K finishers within the cut-off time will receive a finisher’s medal and loot bag.

Note: All 42-K finishers within the cut-off time will receive a finisher’s medal, loot bag and an exclusive finisher’s shirt.

All 21-K and 42-K finishers WITHIN the cut-off time only.

  10. Nice running experience with my whole family. Next year, I will try to run at 21k or 42k. Thanks Milo and Coach Rio kahit beginners ako at 1st time ko tumakbo sa 10k, I beat the cut-off time………

  11. Thanks Milo for the Wonderful race! One reason i run is because of the Cut Off Time, its not quite usual though i find it more challenging to join a particular race which has limit. Very challenging talaga itong Milo almost 2 months rin kaming nag handa dito, at the end of the race worth it naman lahat ng paghihirap, clocked 10 minutes before the cut off time and beat my PR -12 Minutes for 21KM. Kita kits sa next run Rexona/Regent :)

  12. My first FM in 5:36…Thanks Milo! Until something bigger comes along, this is the pinnacle of my running journey. Thanks to everyone who supported me. :)

  13. Mali ang km markers ng 42K, sobra ng 1 Km. may gamit akong GPS watch & I believe it was accurate. Total distance talaga ay umabot ng 43 Km based on my GPS watch. The organizers should have checked the markers or the true distance before the race. Anyway, natapos ko naman ang race.. Congrats to all the finishers.. Keep running. :-)

  14. @joey comment 109

  15. RULES IS RULES! MGA FELLOW RUNNER’S SORRY NA LANG SA MGA DI UMABOT SA CUT-OFF, PRACTICE SOME MORE TO IMPROVE YOUT TIME.

  16. yes soleus my got 43++ km. basis lang naman yan. kaya nga may kilometer marker as reference. pag nagtetrain ng 21km++ malaki na error ng gps watches kaya you have to adjust.

  17. Finally, I have run my first half mary and on my 1st run, I got my elusive 21km Milo Finishers Medal wow that’s great thanks to Milo and runrio and to myself heheheheh. It was a great run and I’m looking forward in running again this coming finals and hopefully I shall break my PR time in 21k of 2:22 and if I will make the sub 2:00Hr and my goal would be 1:30 – 1:45Hr hmmmmm sounds challenging huh then I will my full mary next year……

  19. Opinion ko lng ito, ang cut-off is 2:30mins. nagkataon lang na marmi pang medal kya pinaubus nila ipamigay until umabot ng 2:40mins, dun lng naubus ang medals. ang tanung ksi, qualified ba ang runners na tumakbo sa national after 2:30mins ng cut-off?

  20. @victor comment 115

OPinion1: all 21k runners shall receive medals, certf at lootbag. Maliwanag un db MILO? Nakakadismaya, hindi nyu nasunod. Opinion2: After the 2:30mins cut-off, runners will not received any medal etc. ang kaso, hindi expected ng first time runners, trying hard runners etc. hindi ito expected, ksi nga, lahat ng runs binibigyan ng medal, lootbag, at freebies pa.

baka up to cutoff, or until supplies last? hehehe :D

  23. my time for the marathon was 3:57.40. qualifying ko is 3:50 according to my age group. sana patakbuhin pa ako sa december considering the reason na umulan, ang hirap tumakbo pag basa ang sapatos at pinipili ang dadaanan. hehe

  24. @Victor: Hindi po qualifying ung 21K ng Manila leg for the finals. Yung 21K provincial races, un po ung qualifying races, and ung 42K ng Manila elimations :)

  25. IMHO cut-off time is the best thing about milo marathon. unlike fad runs wherein all runners receive a medal regardless if they run or walk.

most runners are lucky as the sweep rule was never implemented. if not most runners will be ranting by now.

  26. last post. Hehe. Magkaiba ang small print sa page 6 (w/n co) at page 9 (all finishers) in terms of the medal, etc. tama ba ako o hindi ko lang maintindihan to dahil nakasulat sa english? mahirap kasi akong umintindi pag english eh. Sana next year may tagalog version na yung kamaylibro. :)

  28. I can’t see the wisdom of complaints about the rains, loot bags, and medals. The rules were made very clear by Milo about the cut-off time. Please everyone, there’s a golden rule here. “If all else fails, read the Manual”. Raining is the best thing that ever happened in this race. Imagine running a full marathon with the frying sun on your head. The heat will be unbearable.

  29. I think it’s much easier to run with the frying sun on my head.

Running with shoes filled with rain water/flood water? Definitely a no no.

Eh madaming runners, including me, got loot bags. I said my statement for comparison purposes, not bragging rights. =) Pare- parehas lang tayong nakatapos ng 21 km, we have same achievements. =)

Wala akong orasan eh. Napapaisip tuloy ako kung tama ba yung tinitignan kong time sa taas.

  32. @ victor, I agree with you. Sa tingin ko, pinapaubos na lang yung medals kahit di ka umabot sa cut- off time. Aminado kasi akong di ako umabot ng cut- off eh. Nagulat na lang ako meron pa.

Pero teka, walang nakalagay sa handbook na medals are available while supplies last. =) As I said to Vicoy, di na ako sure kung tama yung orasan na tinitignan ko. Wala akong gadgets.

Exclusivity by performance.

    @El Caballo comment 128

  35. @Verticalfinisher

  37. Well congrats to all runners….. 3k,5k,10k,21k and 42k. Last year July 10k lang then nag level up 21k dec. Eh syempre ngaun level up na 42k na. Ok na sana lahat lahat. Kaso bagsak sa baggage area… Dissapointed Lang talaga ako as baggage counter, Kasi last year July dun naka pwesto baggage area binabaha ung lugar na yun. Nawa mapansin nila Ito.

  38. congratulations po sa ating lahat…
most memorable marathon experience.. experiencing abdominal cramps from 7km up to finish… thankful at natapos…

@mark congrats brow for qualifying – at sa iyong mrs lakas nyo ah… if im not mistaken eh “mercado last name nyo” nagpopodium din yung wife mo sa mga events.. im honour na nakapacing ka sometimes sa greenfield run… bawi na lang next year ulit…rest mode muna :-)

  39. Milo has been serving the running community for the longest time kahit di pa uso ang running at gumagastos sila for such an unpopular cause. Fastforward to 2012 and they are still at it, providing a venue for discovering talents and offering the highest prize money. At di lang yan, they are doing it for a cause and at such an affordable registration.

The rest like dispalinhadong km markers and hydration concerns, they can be addressed readily.

Regarding the medals and loot bags, it helps to program in our mind the cut-off time Milo usually imposes: 2:30 for 21K and 6 hrs for 42K. Crossing the finish line past those cut-off times, expect no medal/loot bag.

The great thing about running a Milo race is the cheap registration and the support this amount gives to the running community and to various causes. Let not those material things define the wondrous experience running and finishing gives us.

  40. para sa mga nagra-rant about being unable to finish within cutoff because of the weather and cutoff time…

“…preparation doesn’t stop with your routine trainings. it only ends the moment you’ve crossed the finish line…”

the food you eat before and during the race; the clothes, socks and shoes you wear; the rests you take; your mindset should all be part of your preparation…

blame not the weather, the cutoff time and whatnot for not getting the medal. you’ve known them long before.

ADMIT TO YOURSELF THAT YOUR BEST WASN’T GOOD ENOUGH. from there it’s easy to pick yourself up and get a move on.

being positive should be the right attitude.

    keep running! =)

  41. This is my first 42k haha .. huling takbo ko 10k pa last hyundai run lang .. tapos wala ng training training, takbo agad haha .. nakisabay lang ako sa mga group runners na marunong mgrun walk hehehe .. yun natapos ko bago mg.cut off time .. ang saya saya noooh ? hahaha laki ng medal at dalawang araw ko ng suot tong finisher shirt hahaha.. proud na proud yeah !

  42. cut off??? bakit sa 42K extended ng 10 mins? unfair sa nagpagod to finish within 6 hours.. sana strict implementation para walang magagalit.

  43. Last year 35th milo marathon finals, tumakbo ako ng 21k, nag enjoy lang ako sa aking pagtakbo, dahil alam ko pag finished ko meron akong medal na matatanggap at isasabit sakin, pero sa di inaasahang pangyayari ay nag cramps ang aking left leg (muscles) sa 19km, at ang nangyari ay di ako umabot sa cut-off nila na 2:30 hours dahil ang time ko ay 2:37, nalungkot ako dahil wala na akong matatanggap na medal, nanlata ako sa nangyari dahil pagod, hirap at pawis ang ginugol ko sa pagtakbo, pagdating sa huli wala akong napala sa tinakbo ko, pero di pa naman ito ang huling milo marathon, marami pang darating, nasabi ko sa sarili ko “siguro di para sa kin ang medal na yon” kaya ang ginawa ko pinaghandaan ko sya ngayon 2012, ginawa ko talaga ang dapat kong gawin sa pagtakbo at disiplina sa sarili ko para makamit ko ang aking inaasahang medalya sa milo marathon, ngayon 2 pa ang aking 21k medal ng milo, milo marathon angeles (july 22) 21k medal at ngayon july 29, ako po ay nagpursige na matapos ko ang 21k na mababa sa dalawang oras at kalahati, ang payo ko lang din sa mga mananakbo ay magpraktis ng mabuti para makamit nyo tagumpay na inyong inaasam, congrats po sa lahat ng mga mananakbo dyan na tumakbo,,,

  44. Great run!

To the runners who are complaining about not getting a medal due to the cutoff time, don’t be dissappointed and take it as a challenge. Try again on the next milo event. This what makes milo marathon an exciting, prestigious, and different from other running events. You really have to work extra hard to earn the medal and the bragging rights of being a Milo marathon finisher.

Besides, this is the only local road race that is IAAF certified.

Don’t forget to thank them guys for their Hard work and dedication

“The best runner leaves no tracks.”

    Congrats Guys!

  48. Salamat sa Milo & Nestle Philippines. “Cut off time” is meant to challenge and improve the performance of the participants kaya nga Milo Marathon finisher’s medal is one of the most coveted here in the Philippines.

  50. Congrats to all the runners!!! It was a great run!!! Thanks Milo and Runrio.

Was able to finish within the cut-off time but was not able to qualify on may age-bracket… more training I guess.

Seems like more negative comments huh?!

Markers: havent the runners read clearly, it’s stated for 21k and 42k…

    Medals, Certificates, Loot bags:
You’ll be receiving it once you finish within the cut-off time. Lucky those who got it. They worked hard on it.

Baggage counter: what do you expect when the weather is bad?! Last year was even worse, so expect your bag is wet, I guess much better if you put your belongings on a plastic before putting it on the counter.

Problem with us runners is the lack of discipline…

Stop complaining just start training and soon you’ll be getting all those you wanted: medal etc.

After all one reason why we guys joined the run is for their advocacy. To help those less fortunate… more shoes next time!

See you guys on the road.

  51. Finally I made it after 3 years of trying. I’m now qualified for the national finals. I was able to set my new PR for full marathon and qualified for my age group 40-44. When I cross the finish line I cried and embrace my family and friends. They know how much it mean to me. My last 4 weeks of training under the rain and another 12 weeks of hard training paid off. My dream of running the National Finals is now alive.

  52. I made the cutoff time…right on the dot. The rain at the finish line was nice. Giving the runners that moment after crossing the finish line. lol!

On another note, I saw 2 or 3 bandits on my route…I was tempted to take a photo of them and post it here. :) Maybe next time. hehehe

  53. To the Milo and RunRio team

In my opinion, Milo Marathon should not only dwell for the elite runners who can always be at their best during the race. Majority of runners are not like these real runners. It is very important and a great motivation for a runner who can have a medal after more than 2:30 hrs or longer of devastating run and walk. So I believe if these runners didn’t make it to the cut off time, they deserve a medal & certificate. It’s ok even w/o lootbag since the items inside it are consumable. Medal & certificate stands as their proof of finishing the race and that’s the eseence of it.
I hope you’ll consider this on the next races.

    Thank you.

    jgaliano

  54. first milo run ko to and it took me 3 years bago makasali lagi nauudlot and im so happy kasi first milo and first half marathon ko and debut din nang running club namin sa office,,thank you for everyone making it possible for the last 36 years.. makita mo lang yung mga bata from schools and family kahit umuulan na nagsasaya at nageenjoy mapapanigit ka talaga,di lang mga bata pati mga may edad na showing that age is nothing when your running… naiiyak na ako on the last 3km kasi sobrang sakit na nang mga hita at paa ko i wanted to stop na pero may narinig ako brod kaya mo yan malapit na malapit na unting push pa then i saw the finish line then umulan ang saya then i saw may gf naghihintay sa akin hahaha knowing na wala pa siyang tulog galing outbreak run. medals certificate loot bags complaints comments saya at lungkot lahat ata talaga yun part nang running ang pinaka the best yung matawid mo yung finish line na yun and masabi mo sa sarili mo nagawa ko natapos ko..thank you lord :)

  55. Thanks s MILO! 1st tym. I reached the finish line b4 d cut-off time of Half Mary. Khit my cold but the heart and mentally strenght r still der. Ang ganda ng medal pero ang importante ung experience and hard work..Congrats sa’ting lahat…GOD Bless…

  56. had a great run @21K with medal and loot bag, wife and kidz @5K, masaya din sila.

    Congrats to all runners!

    see you next milo run…

konti nga lang laman ng loot bag, accdg. to my kid.

    Thank you MILO!

  57. 1st marathon have nothing to complain exept the blisters I got from my wet shoes :)

    hydrations were plenty…
about the km markers… I really never cared about them until the last 5km …

one of the best events I’ve joined.

  58. @mia comment 39
“According to my friend who ran 42km, route for 21 and 42 km was the same from MOA to Luneta then U-turn going straight to Bayview then U-turn again”

magkaiba po ang route ng 21k at 42k… Yung 42k, kailangan munang mag left turn papuntang edsa bago mag macapagal…

  60. @Roelle: naiyak ako sa part when you crossed the finish line with your two boys, sir hahaha :)) with matching photo pa

good job, ynny, on the shot :)

  61. worst run ever. the 3 heavy downpours ruined my target time for 42K :-( … thanks milo and hope it will not rain next year.

  62. @lonelrunner— mismo. mind set nyo na rain or shine. and try to jog run while raining. para ready kyo anytime. chka mag heat training kyo if u have time.

  63. Tnx s milo and 2 coach Rio…congratz po sa ating lahat na nakatapos sa 42km, and congratz sa lahat ng mga runners… im very happy kc natapos ko ang 42k kahit injured… kita kits ulit nxt year…

  64. @limitEDrunner comment 145

confirmed na sir !!! salamat. Pasok kami ni misis sa finals. 3:43 (PR) ako si misis nag relaxed run sa 4:05 (hindi PR)

magandang regalo ng milo sa birthday ko !

  65. They ranked the 5k runners by Gun Time? Ang daming waves nun so kawawa naman yung mga nasa last wave. Kahit mabilis yung chip time nila eh nasa dulo na sila ng rank. Unfair naman yata yun.

  66. Also, there was nothing in the Handbook that indicates that runners who didn’t meet the cut-off time will not be included in the OFFICIAL RESULTS as if those PAYING RUNNERS didnt not exist at all on the race.

Thats a 1,2,3 and 4 blows on the runners who did not meet the cut-off time.

Malay nyo kayo na maka beat for the first runner who breaks the 2:15:00 invisible time barrier…

  68. @mark congrats – lakas nyo talaga ah… tama nga ako ng hinala kayo yun hindi ako nagkamali ng last name… si mrs mo eh nag podium pa sa greentennial HM last year sa aseana imsure ikaw yung kasama nya nuon…sa greenfield city run this year eh nanduon din kayo kasi nakita ko rin mrs mo eh… at fortunately magkasunod lang tayo natapos sa HM… pero ito ang result ng walang proper training 4:53 ako this milo ikaw 3:43 ang layo…haha btw, congrats sa inyong mag-asawa you deserved it sobra dedication nyo sa running…

pahabol… nag podium yata kayo sa cebu marathon ba yun this year? both kayo ng wife mo… :-)

till next year ulit… hopefully makapag isa pang FM this year yung QCIM… yan eh kung papalarin kung hindi man eh next MILO ulit ang event… goodluck

  69. sino po ang may plans tumakbo sa San Pablo or Lipa? di ako sa umabot sa cut-off, nagka-cramps ako pagka U-turn sa Luneta. Please let me know baka pede makasabay. Thanks so much. :)

  71. its not my first time to run 21K pero first time ko magkaroon ng abdominal and leg cramps. Sa isang event 2 cramps sabay pa kung kailan naghahabol ng cut-off time. Since I know na di ko na kakayanin tapusin inenjoy ko na lang yung route at pati yung ulan. Bawi ako sa December or kung suswertehin makasali sa San Pablo or Lipa leg.

  72. @adizero – just want to challenge myself. Kung may makakasabay lang naman sasali ako. Practice na rin for 32K ng RU3. :) Thanks

  73. wow! soooooooooobraaang higpit ng MILO ngayon compared last year. :D Wala talagang medal, certificate, loot bag at wala pa sa race results ang wala sa cut off time! astig. They are teaching something . . .

  74. guys i had finisher shirt of 42k na 2xl, i want sana xl kung meron man need ng 2xl we can swap it.big size kc un 2xl skin

Tsk. :(

I could see this as a negative experience and not join any MILO races again. Pero I’m beyond that. Although I’m a bit disappointed, I still see the whole thing as a positive experience and I will challenge myself para sa next MILO race na sasalihan ko eh I will make the cut-off time, get a medal, lootbag and certificate! Hehe Just keep running guys! There’s always next time to make up for our failed attempt. :)
