  1. feeling q anlayo ng 10K? my usual runs in practice is around 45min-50mins…but this time i clocked 56mins…anyway i still had fun running :-)

  2. First time to run in Milo, indeed a fun run! Kahit nkklerkei ang mga pasaway na estudyante. Best of all, it was fun running in the rain!!! Thanks Milo!

  3. wasn’t able to beat the qualifying time of 4hrs sa age group ng 45-49 yrs old. Nsa 4hr-04min ang time ko.
sana they could consider my time para mapasama sa finals,
    P L E E E E E E E A S E . . . .

  4. Experience from a 21K disqualified runner (di umabot sa cut-off time):

    – The run was fun in the first 10km. After that, hindi nakakatuwa. The KM Marker were confusing.

Suggestion: please accurately designate the KM Markers. Madali lang naman yun even if you will placing it even before the day of the run. Have it stand securely kasi may mga tumbang KM Markers na on the route.

    – The guys on the hydration stations were slow.

Suggestion: this is a no-brainer. no need for suggestions.

    – running in the rain is nice. running on a heavy downpour is definitely not enjoyable. mahirap tumakbo kapag punong puno na ng tubig ang sapatos mo.

    Suggestion: i dont really know.

    – the Baggage Area was flooded. My friend’s bag was filled with floodwater. Saya diba.

Overall: Disappointed. Hindi umabot sa cut-off time. Konting minutes lang ang pagitan. Basa pa ang gamit at walang pamalit. Saya talaga.

  5. kudos milo! and runrio na rin… ngayon lang nag sink in sakin ang “cause” ng event na ito… ang ganda ng medal at singlet inspite of the cheap reg fee pero ang dami palang beneficiary na schools.

on the other hand, nakaka asar lang yung mga marker. hindi ko malaman kung ano na ba talaga distance ko =P tagal rin bago ko nakuha yung bag ko sa counter.

overall, i enjoyed! first time ko tumakbo ng 21k sa semento, hindi pala sya ganon kahirap. buraot lang nung nagopen na yung kabilang kalsada sa sasakyan, hirap huminga dahil sa usok =P

  6. @comment # 10
Di ba same U-turn ang 42K and 21k based sa race route along Roxas Boulevard and Bay View, ba’t mas ahead ng 1km ang 42K marker? Nakakalito talaga.

at that point, naisip ko na na screwed up ang mga marker. i suspect tama yung position nila pero they were facing the wrong direction.

    i smelled sabotage =P

  8. My first ever Marathon..I literally broke in to tears when I crossed the line. hardwork and discipline really pays. Thank you Milo for the experience.

  10. i was a bit disappointed..
i thought, all participants of 21K will automatically receive a LOOT BAG..

but reaching the finish line, no LOOT BAG was given coz according to them,
it has also a CUT-OFF TIME of 2 hours and 30 minutes..

hhmm.. i’m not aware of that..

    anyways, THANKS and GOD BLESS..

The thing that disappointed me was the paper cups strewn across the road. I Ran a few weeks ago sa MBC run and napakalinis nun vs Milo. Hopefully the can improve this by providing more garbage bags for runners to throw the cups/trash. Nakakatakot din kasi baka madulas sa cups or Banana Peels. I’m also happy since I broke my PR sa 21K at nakakuha pa ng Medal. All that training paid off.

  12. So happy with my first FM :-) didnt finish as expected, walked n jogged thru craps starting at the 35th, but all worth it :-)

  13. So happy with my first FM :-) didnt finish as expected, walked n jogged thru cramps starting at around km35, but its all worth it

  14. wl pring tatalo s UNILAB maayos lahat pti s baggage di mababasa nkpatong s paleta at ang mga marker by K nk lagay, crowded sobra dami ng tao pg MILO pr s lahat kc 2,any way congratulation MILO nice job see u s finals…

  15. baggage area was a disaster. anybody have a gps measurement of the 21k route. seems longer to me. anyway got my first milo medal and that’s the fun part of it :)

  16. thosw complaining about plastic cups, FYI, there were 37000+ participants, and it doesnt makes sense kung pupulutin habang may mga runners, they collected naman after the race.

  17. @ pure love, ako ang time ko, 2:37. May medal at loot bag ako. Kaya di ako naniniwalang may cut off time ang loot bag. Baka palusot na lang nila yun… =)

  18. Milo Marathon was alot of fun. Well, first of all the weather was great. I’ve always avoided running in the rain, but as I was less than a kilometer away from the finishline it rained and it like a encouragement pouring on me saying “you’re almost there.”

The Milo Song- I love hearing their theme songs along the route, I’m still humming it as I write my comment.

The route- Out&back route makes it easier for a runner to pace himself but it can be discouraging if one lacks training.

The Hydration- The supply on all the stations was sufficient. The white paper cups makes the literring move obvious, but I think this is more like the responsibility of the runners, I saw large net-trash-catch on most stations (good thiking to RunRio Hydration Team).

Kilometer Markers- The organizing team can definitely improve the placement.

Distance- RunRio is always known for their close to accurate distance.

The Medal- I love the 21K medal (its my new favorite!)

The lootbag- I love Milo products, so seeing a belt of Milo sache and Milo breakfast cereal was the best loot bag for me. I started eating my Milo as soon as I opened my bag- and yes the Milo power didn’t even make it to the activity area (Try Milo with Banana-sarap!).

The gunstart- It was right according to schedule. I love that they set an early gun starts for 21K- Thank you!

Parking- Well, I was ecpecting over 40,000 participants so me and my friend decided to come early, I advice runners to always come as early possible, this give you time to do warm-up exercises. I even had a chance to take a second nap.

Overall, this is a memorable race, I love it. The rain just gave a renewed hope to runners like me (just trying to enjoy the event and finish a 21K) but to others it meant wetbags, either-or blame it on the rain.

Kudos once again to the entire RunRio Team and Milo team for giving us a memorable experience- til next year.

  19. According to my friend who ran 42km, route for 21 and 42 km was the same from MOA to Luneta then U-turn going straight to Bayview then U-turn again. Markers should have just indicated both for 21 and 42 km distance to avoid confusion (only to that area).

With regards to the medals/finisher certificates and lootbags. If you will look in the Handbook, Runners who crossed the finish line within the time limit, will receive a certificate . Upon completion of the race, runners in 21 and 42 km distance will receive a finishers medal.Finishers in 21 and 42 k race will also receive a special lootbags. This is what is stated in the Handbook. What I understood for as long as runners had crossed the finish line, they will receive medals but if not within the time limit, they will not be able to receive a finisher’s certificate. But when the rules were announced prior to the 21 and 42 km race this morning, it seems that they were different from what was stated in the Handbook. Maybe next time, organizers should be consistent also in the Rules and Regulations to avoid confusion.

But overall, it was a great run and Kudoz again to Coach Rio and his staff for all the efforts they have poured out in this race.

  20. Second running event ko pa lang tong Milo Marathon after the MBC proud to say na di ako umabot ng 1 hour almost kundi sa konting kalitohan gaya ng sinasabi ng ibang runner about the marker siguro i take the Milo run for 40minute but still i take it 58 minutes not bad for beginner more practice and discipline now i appreciate running, continue hobby na to, next event run800 21k entry Milo marathon level..see you guys…Congrats to all runners.. :)

  21. I was right, the race route for 10K and 21K that they published on the website was wrong. Thankfully they did not go with that one.

  22. Salamat po milo!!! Waiting for official results.

  23. as regards km markers, malilito ka talaga if you were not able to read the upper portion of the markers. for me ayos lang yun, nabasa ko naman ang itaas na bahagi ng markers so i know na hindi para sa akin na isang 21k runner. madami naman may gamit na gps watch. so sila ang tinatanong ko sa distance at oras. overall, wala akong negative experience sa run na ito. i had my PR for 21k and a medal too. negative comment yata ay yung sa baggage booth that according to a friend eh ang tagal bago maibigay. i heard din na may mga nabasang bag. anyway, it was a great event and majority had fun running.

  24. finished 21k at 2hours 2minutes. i can almost see the finish line when i got cramps. sayang talaga, should’ve finished it in less than 2 hours. nweiz, Congratulations sa lahat ng nag.qualify. see you all this december. sa mga hndi naman umabot, may next time p naman. train lang tayo guys. :D

  25. It is a good run kaso disappointing.

Sana hindi sya worth ng 500 php for the 21k next year, kahit wala ng advertisement(May nabasa kasi ako All 21K finishers will get a medal) at handbook na lahat makakakuha ng medal, lootbag at certificate. Ok lang kung we are expecting 500php for nothing after ng race, Kaso hindi worth yong mag expect na wala naman pala.

I am so disappointed, uminum nalang ako ng 2 cup ng milo.

Baka un ang consequence ng slow runner.

My 500php will go to the good hands naman eh.

    I enjoyed the run anyways.

  26. Well so far okay naman ang run my 1st Half Mary and got a medal …

    Whhewww…

Ang saya my last 500 meters bigla umulan kaya refereshing…

Nagbunga naman ang training kahit papaano, will comeback next year for my 1st Full Marathon!

    See you next year runners!

  27. The Run, I think it was great generally for all the runners. For me, without the blisters and some cramps I’ve had, it was a pretty nice run..not bad as my 1st full marathon. The Medal, I love it! My biggest and grandest so far…All praises and glory almighty Father. And to Milo/Coach Rio, thanks…keep it up

  28. Great FM run with MILO powered by Runrio @ 4:11:13. Need more time for practice. Hoping to improve my new PR by next year. Just I enjoyed the run since this is my first time in 42.195km. Congratulations MILO, Runrio & to all Runners in all categories.
See u all again next year.

Above all, thanks to our Almighty GOD.

  29. ..this is my personal observation and opinion..i think the organizer underestimated the turn outs of runners specially in the 21k category..akala kasi nila konti lang ang makakatapos ng 21k within the cut off time..kaya naubusan sila ng medal, certificate at loot bag kaya ginawa nilang excuse na may cut off time…so sad..sayang naman kasi this is one of the most awaited marathon kahit qualifying/elimination..sana they give even a little of consideration to all 21k runners…agree ako sa comment ni ms mia #39…last year they even extended the the cut off time to dispose all the medals, certificate and loot bag..i hope rio will realize, because of his almost every two weeks of marathon (21k)..e marami na talagang makakatapos ng 21k in the most ideal time…

sana they will take sometime to reevaluate everything and give consideration regarding medal and certificate..pede namang ihabol eh…

claiming of baggage..DISASTER!!!..last year ganun din ang nangyari..nabasa, nalubog sa tubig, at nakababad ang mga paa ng runners habang hinahanap ung baggage nila…wala bang effort to remove ung tubig????..

overall it was fun and enjoyable..ikaw ba naman tumakbo ng biglang nagbabago ang distance..waaaahhhhhh…

    congrats to all runners!!!!!!!

    • I agree dito. E nasa likod kami ng gunstart so technically that is few more minutes pa before our time start kasi inde pa kami nag-cross ng starting point. Sana magawan nila ng paraan yung mga ganun next time.

salamat at umulan. nakaka- in love ang medal.

i enjoyed the event dahil sa mga friends na nakasama ko kanina. aun lang. still congrats to Milo and RunRio

  31. Grabe,di ko to malilimutan,
    may first full marathon,
though i dont have much time for training
i still made it to finish line

the best ang milo and runrio

  32. Congratulation Coach Rio & Milo Organizer job well done. my 1st 42k at sobrang hirap pero sulit yung pagod once i get my Medal & finisher shirt. till next year ulit & definitely improve my PR.

  33. also a half-mary runner-just had to watch it at the stations that offered bananas, seeing as there were banana peels all over the place…

BUT it was still an awesome run :D crossed the finish line just as it started to pour, which made for a great finish to a long-a** run :D see you all at the finals!

  34. @basuraboy now im respecting the distance bro.. Didnt get my sub-4 (4:20) but i got a fiancee which really made my first fm a life changing experience ;)

  35. It’s worth all the hard early morning training. Best and biggest medal.I got the junior size last year when i ran half mary. Ngayon father and son na sila.

  37. sir, pakitupad lang yung nakastate sa handbook na all finishers of 21k and 42k will get a medal and a loot bag.. wala namang sinasabi dun na di bibigyan ng medal ang di umabot sa cut off time.. nakakadisappoint yan sa mga first time runner ng 21k.. salamat

  38. finished my first 42K after a year of running. thanks Milo for this event.

may i also say “thank you” sa mga groups along buendia and roxas blvd na nagche-cheer at nag aalok ng banana etc….. that’s just great. i want to meet you and be my friends.

  39. Runner’s Handbook for 42k / 21k / 10k

    pp 9. Runners’ Entitlement
CERTIFICATES: “Runners in all categories who cross the finish line WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT will receive a finisher’s certificate.”

LOOTBAGS: “Finishers in the 21K and 42K WILL ALSO RECEIVE LOOTBAGS from MILO.”

FINISHER’S MEDALS: “UPON COMPLETION of the race, runners in the 21k and 42k category WILL RECEIVE A FINISHER’S MEDAL.”

Im no lawyer but, the organizers can go to court for breaching their own rules which they were trying to revise during GUNSTART. WTF

  40. Im so thankful because I finished the 21k. Its my first. I have have prepared for this for almost 2 Years gradually. I will keep on running sa milo for the rest of my life.

  41. @Ely. it’s true nasa handbook nila na me loot bags lahat ng finishers sa 21K and 42K. ung medal me cut-off kaya kung lagpas ka ng 2:30 wala na talaga. pero dapat me lootbags at least. last time (december 2011) meron lootbags lahat ng finishers sa 21K. dapat same din ngaun kasi same din naman ang hirap at binayad natin di ba?

  42. para tuloy ako naaawa sa sarili ko kahapon. nagtanong tanong ako sa ibang 21K finishers and obviously they are very disappointed. pero ok lang in the end kasi medals or lootbags won’t define us as true runners. but i won’t stop til i get that very elusive medal. so continue running till there is no more road to run.

  43. and to those complaining km markers, di ba ang importante naman eh ung finish line? the route is no brainer at all, straight-forward, i just dont see why this is so much of an issue. Beside, the route was provided in advance so may time to familiarize. peace and conrgats to all finishers.

  44. Runner’s Handbook for 42k / 21k / 10k

    page 13

#25. The race organizer may change without prior notice any of the rules and regulations that they deem necessary to ensure the success of the race. The race organizer’s decision is final.

siguro para sa success kaya wlang lootbag

  45. @bsp Tama ka nga sir. Dapat may asterisk yung sa handbook tapos sisingitan nila ng “subject to last minute changes”. May kuya akong narinig kahapon, magdedemanda raw. :D

  46. Milo is my first marathon. I hit the 35k mark in 4:45 so I knew I had time to make the cut-off. Finally did it in 5:36. It was fun!

  47. .. bkit wla energy drink after run unlike last year Dec 2011 anu purpose nun redemption booth n nkalagay dun… hehehe’ anyway i enjoy running nman yesterday and challenge sa akin ung takbo kc mas bumilis ako pra hindi abutan ng ulan sa pagtakbo..

  48. thanks sa group sa may area ng 42k on last 2km for helping to relief my pain… laking tulong to finished my first full mary.. thanks guys..

  49. My first FM … It was indeed a great experienced.

Your the best guys!

  50. @Verticalrunner (post #34)…with all due respect sir, I wished you hadn’t bragged about you getting the medal pa after missing the cut-off time of 2:30. I have a friend who even finished ahead of you (2:35) but missed the cut-off pero hindi na binigyan ng medal. Just my opinion. Peace.

  51. ok na sana ung run ko nag cramps after BGC…still finish within the cutoff time =) congrats sa lahat ng finisher

  52. congrats to MILO & Runrio. kudos to all finishers and winners. very proud sa mga kakilala and friends who debuted in their 1st marathon. you guys are so inspiring.

sorry to hear sa mga runners with issues about their medals & lootbags. some rules shld be clearer and more specific next time.

im very proud of my sister Micmic for her debut sa MILO events. had fun doing our 5K! nagulat si coach Rio how come short distance lang ako yday, hehe.

overall, marami ulet taung natulungang mga bata. more shoes for them!

  53. kudos to MILO and Runrio. congrats to all finishers and winners esp 1st time marathoners.

congrats to my sister Micmic for her debut 5K here sa MILO. sa wakas!

congrats to RedCapGuy (and fiancee Abby) who not only did his 1st marathon but also got engaged and im happy and lucky to have witnessed it too.

nagulat si Coach Rio how come short distance lang ako yday. Hehe, don’t worry po, balik 21K ulet me this Dec Finals. Have a score to settle. Yayy!

  54. didn’t make it sa cutoff time

but honestly, i enjoyed the Milo race. 1st time ko pa lang sumali ng may cutoff time. missed it by few minutes. sa 2013.. kuha ko yan!! ;)

congrats to all who qualified sa finals!

Same price, same race kit, same rewards. Online registration na lang para mas madali. Hehehe. I will be joining the San Pablo leg kasi di ako umabot sa cut-off time ng Manila Eliminations due to unforeseen events. Hahaha. Poor me. Hahaha. I will try again this San Pablo Leg.

sarap ng unlimited malamig na milo :) new route at new PR for my 10K yeah! :D

sayang lang mga 20min after kong makarating ng finish line dun lang umulan.. heheheh.. see yah at Finals :)

  56. @vicoy (comment73): I agree with you. Maraming runners na madi-disappoint who finished beyond the cut-off and were not given medals/lootbag. Malinaw naman ang sinasabi sa handbook. Milo Marathon is already on its 36th year, and am pretty sure that it has perfected its rules and regulations.

Para naman don sa clamor about km markers, e siguro dapat na set na natin sa ating mga sarili na kelangan natin matapos before cut-off. I don’t have a gps-enabled watch, what I got and brought with me is simply a cheap digital watch, which very well served its purpose.

Wala akong complaint about the race. In fact, masaya ako dahil natapos ko ang first HM ko within the cut-off and of course got my medal, certificate and a lootbag.

    Just my opinion… :)

  57. hmm… no lootbags for those who didn’t make the cut-off time even though the handbook says they will get lootbags… what happened?

…and the baggage? Let’s just say di mo pwede ipagmalaki pag may nakasabay kang foreigner na runner… ikakahiya mo pa nga LOL

  58. It’s so unfair for those 21k runners who were unable to get their loot bags and medals..Kahit pa sabihin ninyo na di sila umabot sa cut-off time. Also, you did not even made it clear sa handbook na walang makukuha yung di makaka-abot sa cut-off time..Add to that na inabutan na kami ng ulan tapos at the end of it wala man lang consideration..?? It’s just not right. MILO pa naman ang kumpanya so we’re expecting na maganda ang kalalabasan..It’s so disappointing. Sa ibang runs di naman ganito, dito pa sa MILO ko naranasan yung ganyan…TSK TSK….What’s the use na nagbayad pa kami ng P500? Just for nothing??

  59. i survived my first 21K and and happy to finish it way beyond the cut-off time and got my medal and certificate kahit nabasa. THANKS ANR FAMILY! SUPER HAPPY!!! Kahit kasinglaki ng piso mga paltos.

  60. It was great and fun. I finished my first 10K run in 58 minutes kahit na akoy inuubo at kulang sa tulog. Supposedly 50 minutes was my estimated time. Hopefully next year okey ang condition ko because i am looking forward joining half marathon/marathon here in MILO. :-)

  61. ako din wala nakuha medal at lootbag sa first 21k run kaso nung nagtanong ako sa mga marshals (walang silbi ang iba di well informed)) kung saan saang booth ako tinuro at sa finish line pa rin bagsak ko para lang sabihin na di umabot sa cut off time… medyo disappointed pero masaya pa din naman.

  62. @takbo lang ng takbp
ganun talaga sa Milo Marathon may cut off nasa rules nila yun. Last year di din ako umabot sa cut off and that was also my first half marathon. Masakit pero tanggap ko kasi alam ko naman na wala na akong aabutan and I dont deserve it. Kaya I really strive hard to get the medal this time and luckily I got mine kahit lumaspas ako ng 1 minute. :). The sad thing is that I was not able to beat my PR for 21K.

  63. guys, the following can also be found on page 6 of the handbook:

Note: All 21-K finishers within the cut-off time will receive a finisher’s medal and loot bag.
Note: All 42.195K finishers within the cut-off time will receive a finisher’s medal, a loot bag, and an exclusive finisher’s shirt.

sa mga hindi po naka abot ng cutoff, at least ngaun alam natin anong push pa kailangan natin gawin. there will be other races. and there will be a next milo marathon :)

    congrats to all finishers! :)

  64. @notsooldrunner
galing mo naman, Congrats! Ako hindi maganda result ko. Though I got my medal, I am not really happy. I was not able to beat my PR. See you on Thursday sa ANR.:)

  65. talagang ganyan.. pag mabagal, indi aabot sa cut-off at walang maaabutan. leason learned? magpraktis at magpraktis.
