SILAKBO (Sikad-Lakad-Takbo), now on its 6th year, is a fund-raising activity for Save Silang-Santa Rosa River Foundation (S3R2), a non-profit organization and partner of the City Government of Santa Rosa, Laguna in the protection and rehabilitation of the Santa Rosa Watershed that covers the cities of Santa Rosa, Biñan and Cabuyao.

With this year’s theme, SILAKBO Goes Beyond the Distance – Run and Plant a Tree, SILAKBO aims not only to lessen our GHG emissions but also to enhance the carbon sink capacity of our City by planting trees. If there will be more runners and bikers to support this advocacy, more trees will be planted, more carbon will be inhibited from emission in the atmosphere, lesser greenhouse gas emission, a worthy fight against climate change.

For every seedling that will be planted, an estimated of 8 tons carbon dioxide (tCO2) per year will be sequestered from emission.

Join us in our continuous fight against the effects of climate change! See you on April 27, 2014 at The Field NUVALI, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna

    • iniwanan yata sila nung kinuha nila event organizer last year di ko lng sure, pero kung malapit lang din naman sa area okey na to, maganda pa yung venue nila :)

  1. For the e-runner, sorry if you had bad experience on our last run, but it’s true we got an organizer that leave us on the night before the run. But our objective is beyond running or fitness its a contribution to mitigate climate change. Hope you’re one of us…..

  2. I agree with you linda, I’m not running after an organizer, I am running your fun run because I am a supporter of your climate change mitigation advocacy. That’s beyond fitness and competence.

    • @wards and @linda,

Just like in every run or marathon where i joined, I have 2 main goals. Fitness/health and support the advocacy.

Just like your objectives to mitigate climate change. This is also for our health.

I understand your objectives and I support that. However, you have to ensure the safety of the runners. This is where you need a competent and experienced organizer. Perhaps this was one reason why there is no more 21K for this year.

If you like to have your advocacy without the possible safety risk, then do not choose to organize running events.

      • Well I surely understand your point e-runners however me being a runner who joined this event 5 times and chose to join a Silakbo event again I already foreseen that point “silakbo” is a government project for the people so do not expect so much from our government who is in fact raising fund for a “cause” and take note this is not just a simpler advocacy everyone of us could benefit from these,

Then if you’re truly a runner you should be ready and expect some flaws on the organizer handling the event because at first you know they are not a professional on this field. I ran the race of most known event organizer and there’s always unsafe acts and conditions exist during the event.

Please may I suggest rather than campaigning not to join this meaningful event, could you just inform every runners to join the event and give them a suggestion how they can enjoy the event given some shortcomings from the organizer?

To all since we are a runner, we all know how can we ensure our safety during the race we can bring our own safety measure while enjoying the race. There’s a lot of way we can support this event without compromising the safety that we are all definitely utmost considered.

  3. i hope you can ensure our safety during the race, yan ang importante kaya minsan tinitingnan namin ang organizer pag mag join kami nang race.

    • @slowpace

Honestly, your comment has little sense.

Running should always be coupled with safety. I support the advocacy. However, if a safe run cannot be organized, then find other ways to support the advocacy.

  4. Tumakbo ako dito last time…sana iconsider nila safety ng runners dagdagan nila marshalls. True nkakadismaya nga patakbo na ito last timepero im sure babawi sila ngaun. we will register tonight.

  5. Nice yong advocy , but you need to consult the expert lalo na sa hydration para safe mga runners para ma invite naman namin mga friends namin and family.

  6. Silakbo organizers our group regester your run last year nagkaligaw ligaw kami tapos yong hydration sobrang layo. But still sasali kami this year para sa advocay i hope this time e improve nyo na. See you

  7. I share the same comments of other runners.
Your objective should go beyond your advocay but including the safety of all the participants.

  8. Selling one race kit (small) for this run.

Reason: Conflict of schedule with urgent activity on the same day. Reply to this post if interested. Thank you.

  9. Sarap talaga tumakbo sa Nuvali…very challenging ang route. Nice run knina..everything is fine unlike last years run
