  1. The notorious Nat Geo Run. Hahaha. Hehehe. O kaya may discount kapag may dalang water bottles and hydration belts.

  2. Finishers Medal!

  5. sino po organizer nito ngayon? kung same pa rin as last year, walk away runners, walk away! sayang pera. let’s help save mother earth through other means

  6. So anlaki niyong kawalan kung mag-pass kayo at kailangan niyo pang mag-comment na hindi kayo sasali dahil same ang organizer?

  8. Register na kami officemates ko this is my first 21k game on, for mother nature… :) Ayoko isipin yng bad comments since for a cause naman eto at gusto ko lang tumakbo. :)

  9. What’s with all the bad comments? I run NG Earth Day 2011 and 2012 as well, wala naman akong nakitang glaring problems except sa garbage disposal.

On that topic, I’m not so sure about the water bottle, although I think it is a solution, just not the best one. I think the solution would be to have longer waste boxes instead of cylindrical bins, located 50-100 meters away from the hydration stations so runners have time to drink properly, as well as proper announcement of this mechanism. But still, there is the issue of plastic cups. What about change the material to biodegradable cups, like the small ones they use on coffee and juice promos.

Having a belt is optimal, but I understand not everyone has or needs them. I do only because when I run beyond 10k I need to hydrate and I want to pace and avoid unnecessary stress in the possible failures by the organizers.

Anyway, design for the Finisher’s shirt please? I registered online and I’m waiting for my package, but would it be possible to have a white singlet instead even if I’m running 21k?

  10. I agree with #45, waste baskets must be situated strategically and longer. Siyempre, runners tendencies to continue moving even with cups on hand, if they’ve passed the baskets, do you really think the runner will back pedal to throw into the waste located just after the hydration tables? nah…

  11. registered online! This will be my 2nd Pikermi! excited na sa Finisher shirt… mataas expectation ko since walang medal so dapat maganda yung finisher shirt :-)

  12. Exaggerated naman ‘yung ibang negative comments dito. Come on. Be objective. Paanong naging worst fun run ‘to sige nga? Sobrang late ba ng gun start? Walang hydration? Walang marshals? Pangit ba ang ruta? Kulang ang distance? Walang results after ng race? Justify your comments.

  13. Looks like the organizer listened to and addressed the issues raised by the runners from last year’s event.

First, reg fee is lower compared to last year. P150 decrease for both 3k and 5k, and a P250 decrease for both 10K and 21K.

Second, singlet design looks way better than last year’s T-shirt, though I have yet to see the actual material used. I’m hoping the fabric is lighter and more breathable (ang init nung tela ng T-shirt last year).

Third, the infamous paper cups issue will hopefully be avoided with use of water bottles.

Fourth, we now know that part of the reg fee will actually go to a good cause (3 trees/runner). I still don’t know what last year’s advocacy was apart from celebrating earth day.

I’m seriously considering taking this run off my “blacklist” of events. Everyone deserves a second chance, ika nga. :D

  14. maganda ang quality ng singlet or di lang ako maselan…. black para sa 21k at white sa lower category….. kahapon ako nag paregister kahapon ginamit ko na dit yung singlet.. parang size sya ng RU 1 2013 Singlet. my 1st NATGEO RUN i hope natuto na ang organizer kung meron naging problema last year… maybe my 6th
    21k…

  15. why? we dont have the voice to be heared? to this running event last year was all in a mess, the organizer not even bother to apologize of what messed they have done, the singlet also was poorly done, di ko na sinuot after the run, sana it would compensate sa mahal na registration fee. di naman porket may beneficiaries then pangit yung singlet, at pag handle ng event, take a look of runrio, runners are willing to pay high because it was properly organized.

  16. If you ran 21k last year, you’ll know why this is a bad idea.
Last year, registration fee was P1,150 and all I got was a finisher’s medal and 1 bottled water. No freebies and no finisher’s shirt.
    Now, there’s a finisher’s shirt, but no mention of a medal….
    Pass!

  17. sana medal na lang instead of finisher’s shirt.. it lasts longer compared to a printed shirt. saka para lang yun sa mga nagyayabang na nakatakbo sila ng 21kms..

  18. If their are problems in the previous editions, I guess eventking will not allow it to happen again. Eventking is part of organizing committee that gave us Condura 2013 that’s why reg venue is still in Greenbelt. Be positive guys babawi naman siguro sila this year

  19. Wow, I was not aware there was such ruckus at last year’s NG Run. I was angry at the plastic cups incident but that was it. I loved and still love the shirt. I knew there was no medal or freebies or anything, and I finished 21k barely below 01:35:00 so I knew I won’t be part of the awarding ceremony and there was no need to linger post event, except look-see here and there.

  20. Pass din ako dito at di na uulit. Ito lang ang natakbuhan ko na Sobrang mahal na nga ang reg fee eh wala pang loot bag at energy drinks last year.

anyways takbo ako dito after merrel.. basagan ng tuhod…

  22. Ubos na raw ang loot bag last year. Me my wife and kid did not get any loot bag. Ubos na raw. Pagot na pagot na kami ubos pa. The site was too small to accomodate the runners, sik-sik-kan. Kawawa ang maga newbie and slow runners.Na bulsa siguro nang maga tao niyo. Family runner will not run this event.I’ll just watch na lang Nat Geo sa T.V. with my family.Poorly Organized last year.

  23. #67, see you all weekend then.

re: shirt/medal, in the 3 odd years i have been regularly running, I used to prefer medals as well. But with these runs getting more and more expensive, I joined less and less, and my biggest motivations to join runs now is that it has to be for a good cause and maganda ang singlet or finishers shirt that I can wear on a daily practical basis.

It is your business whether you prefer the medal or the shirt, but do not presume that your preference is the right one or the best one, AND, force it on others.

  24. I think I’m glad I didn’t joint 2012 edition considering that many were “scandalized ” by the plastic cup litter and by how expensive the reg fees were. The water bottle as part of the race kit is a noble idea. Pero BPA free ba yang water bottle? If its not it will just pollute our bodies and end up yet as another trash very, very soon. BPA or Bisphenol A is an organic compound with the chemical formula that’s used to make certain plastics and epoxy resins (according to wikipedia). Imagine that – which poses another question, would this trash end up in the belly of some sea animal?

Anyway, everyone deserves a second chance. i will register but if the water bottle isn’t BPA free i will really be very disappointed and will rethink about joining.

  25. last year tap water lang kami sa run na ito, kahit gatorade wala man lang, hahhhaahaha. baka ngayon mag hire sila ng tangke ng maynilad water. so disgusting organizer, ito na naman sila!!!!!

  28. guys if you just read their infos above you’ll see and realize that they are trying to prevent the problem last time…syempre mas aayusin na nila yun.No matter what, its your choice to run here or not. They are not forcing anyone.smile!

  29. I did not run NatGeo 2012 but read the negative comments, highlighted by the media flak it picked from a snapshot on one of the water station. But that photo was both runner’s and organizer’s fault, I think. But organizer’s seems to have picked a good lesson’s learned there. Give them a second chance folks, it’s good for Mother Nature and you’d benefit health wise. Forget about the loots, shirt or medals. Like Red, my personal time is all that matters and I need not compare it with anyone. I compete with myself only. And if you believe in the cause of the organizer, all the better! Support them and give constructive criticism. They are professionals. They will listen. I think they heard you from last year.

  30. matter of fact lang yung mention ko ng time, to point out na malayo ako sa cut off time hence no reason to hang around. although I admit after hitting “post” na it sounds tasteless, but I can’t edit. Like I said earlier, practical ang reason ko why I now prefer shirts over medals.

  32. Not advisable for a first 21k. Peak of summer to. If you’re not used to running more than two hours lalo na ganun kainit tapos 5 AM gunstart. Try your first 21k on the cooler months (ber months) or before summer months

  33. we all have our own preference… finisher’s medal or finisher’s shirt… either way naman kase, aminin man o hindi, sa laki din ng investments nating mga runners kada run event, we expect to get something after finishing each run on top of our PRs.

we also are entitled to our own opinions kaya wag na lang tayong magbasagan dito…

last year’s NG run has it’s flaws… pero hindi naman solely to blame ang organizers especially for the plastic cups issue na nagkalat sa kalye…

if you don’t feel like joining this event, then don’t… wala namang pumupilit sa atin… wag na lang siraan… we can never can tell if the NG Run 2013 will be better or worst than the 2012 right?

comment lang siguro sa organizers, medyo late na po ata yung 5AM na gun time for 21K…

  34. Commuter ako… How do i get there if edsa daan ko? or any other suggested routes na pwede ko daanan early in the morning…? paranaque area po..thank you!

  35. To clarify, and my last word on this issue:
Writing that time thing was a horrible idea, one I really regret. But the context there is to state that there was no reason for me to linger after the event for some loots or something. Moreover, as many can attest, it is not even a good time for regular runners.

Now, if you equate educational achievement to running (something that I consider a form of exercise and, if at all an achievement, one that is purely personal), there is something wrong with your priorities.

On topic, can NG move the gunstart earlier, maybe 4:00 or 4:30?
