  1. It was a nice run. My first 21k and first time to run in Commonwealth. I did not have any hard time parking. Gun start was on time. The route was a nice one specially the LaMesa Dam part.

The weather made things even better as the sun never shined and just when I was about to cross the finish line, it rained. :)

Owning Commonwealth for a few hours in indeed a priceless experience.

Two things though I did not like.

    1. Warm Maynilad Water
    2. Not enough Gatorade :P

I wonder who is the lucky winner of the Condo unit?

  2. racer # 13693 won the condo unit. first name is joey from vasra, qc.

will they publish race results? i’d like to see my finish time because i didn’t get to time my self.

  3. nice running weather, everything was spot on except for some few things like:

*the giveaway section was a total disaster ( totally the crowd was not controlled)
*I had a difficult time gulping the water cause I saw maynilad trucks parked near the main station ( was thinking that it wasn’t really safe to drink)
*where have all the sports drink(Gatorade) gone? Maybe in someone’s closet?

the raffle part was exciting and fun, twas nice to see someone actually winning a raffle prize or should I say not just a prize but a ” condo unit ” congrats to the first timer guy :)

Route was nice, very technical with silent killers, loved the slopes…

Just didn’t like the hydration, few electrolyte drinks…

  5. i agree on the silent killer thing.. parang nakakaloko ung daan, akala mo pantay paahon pla hehe..

  6. Loved the shirt and finishers medal, Saturday night xmas party + no breakfast + less than 2hrs of sleep = no pr. Glad to finish 21k though. Bawi nalang sa milo next week. Buti din pala may saging somewhere 10th km. Thanks for the experience. Hope next time there’ll be ice sa hydration booth para lumamig naman ung tubig :)

  7. Just finished 42k @ QCIM. clocked in @ 4hrs 22mins ^_^

Of course Thank you very much to the organizers of
Quezon City International Marathon, for a very organized and successful event!
Thank you Lord, for giving us a very good weather!

  8. my first marathon!
    cant believe it!
i just started to join fun runs mostly 5k,
    just this year!
    and cant believe it that
i’ve also completed my first marathon at the same year!!!
sobrang astig pala talaga tumakbo sa eco park! first time ko makapunta dun, tinakbo ko lang.,.,
at sa bandang huli, parang himala talaga
    na pagdating ko ng 40km,
    malakas pa rin ako!
panalong panalo ang QCIM para sakin the best experience!!! ^_^

  9. Positive sides:
    1. Maganda yung route. Simple. Nagkakakitaan ang mga runners.
    2. Walang chance na mandaya
    3. May saging
    4. Maganda yung weather. Sa finish line lang umulan.
5.Maganda yung medal. Pang collector’s item
    6. May marshalls every Km.
    7. Maayos ang baggage counter. Nakuha ko kaagad bag ko.

    Negative sides:
    1. Mainit yung shirt pag pinangtakbo.
    2. Yung mga hydartion drinks, kahit Gatorade or water, hindi malamig.
    3. Ang loot bag, plain bag.
    4. Yung timer, nasa gilid. Hindi nakikita ng runners sa malayo.

Definitely, sobrang maayos compared sa Manila International Marathon! Congrats organizers.

  10. it’s kinda dissapointed.. i run my first full marathon here so far so good naman kaso prang nawala n yun mga tao nag guide sa mga runners, kelangan ko p magtanong kung san yun way.. and the loop bags, as in wala na “HINDE BA DAPAT 1 is to 1 ” yun??? kawawa naman yun mga tumakbo ng 42k… parang katulad lang sa nike run, puro pangako…

  11. Congratulations @ ian carlo rinosa. Truly, “we are able to do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us”.
    Keep running safely:)

  12. Yeah very few loot bags were available. When I arrived to get mine, the 21k table was empty and I saw people lining up at the 42k table. When I got the kit, only a handful were left so I guess many 42k runners did not get theirs anymore.

I guess all runs have their pros and cons.

Ian – congrats. You are fast for a first time marathoner and to think na this year ka pa lang nag start. :)

  13. just finish my 1st 42k, i was aiming for 4:15 to 4:45, i finished 4:40….
it got very challenging after 30km mark, is it true na nakaka cramps ang Milk shake?? gusto ko sisihin ang milk shake thenight before ng race

  14. it was a good event, organized na rin, except sa hydration , medyo nakaka dighay sa init ng tubig,

ang ganda ng La Mesa Dam…

    nakisama din ang weather…

  15. …the clean, cool air on the way to La Mesa Dam was awesome.. as soon as i saw the dam, Boyz II Men’s WATER RUNS DRY played on my iPhone…

the traffic jam, giveaways and hydration were just hiccups in a nice race… i expect this race get better next year…

  17. Very mixed emotion on this one. The UP and La Mesa routes were great. The commonwealth route was a disaster.

I was among the few who started late for my 42km. On our way back via commonwealth, obvious na galit ang mga motorist sa marathoners because of the traffic it caused. Compared to the usual smiles I got from Nathan Ridge Run, dito sisigawin ka pa “Hoy Wag kang maglakad at nakakatrapik kayo!’.

We have to WALK back safely the commonwealth route with all those fast vehicles on head on collision. That was around 9ish on Kilometer 25 to 30.

The marshals? Hardly in sight. Someone even said, “ser hatid na namin kayo para makauwi na kami”.

The worst part, fumes from dumptrucks enroute to Payatas. As if keeping up with an international standard.

We felt very safe upon entering UP. I will never join a race with a commonwealth route.

  18. my first 21k. i started running less than a month and nathan ridge was my first. my standard of a race is that of nathan ridge. this qcim is 4/10 compared to 10/10 of nathan.

    4 pluses
    1. the route
    2. the medal
    3. the weather
    4. the singlet

    6 minuses
    1. the finisher’s kit (1 red sling bag and 2 pcs walter bread inside)
    2. the maynilad water (was it safe)
    3. the hydration stations (no gatorade/powerade?)
    4. the garbage (something has to be done :)
    5. the organizers (well, the dis organizers – they were very disorganized)
    6. the timer on the start/finish line (why too small and on the side???)

pero i enjoyed naman my first 21k. sana ang runnex (organizer) ay naging mas focused s atrabaho nila :)

  19. And yes, after 42km – no loot bag for me. I need to hold on to some well deserved reward with my finisher medal. If this is to suggest zero premium on your long and hard races, please rethink on using the word ‘international’ in your billings.

  20. sana yung mga give aways pinagsama-sama nlang lahat sa iisang bigayan n lang. para namn hndi ngmukhang tanga sa pagpila ang mga participants. naggagulo tuloy at nag-agawan sa pag kuha ng give-aways mula sa mga hindi nman nakapila. it’s waste of time para pumila p ng pumila para kumuha ng drinking water para sa pagod na runner. sana isinama nlang ang water at sandwich n walang palaman sa isang bigayan ng give aways. he,he,he.

  21. i saw the run this morning to support my brothers full marathon. sa finish line, ang dming tarpaulin ng sponsors na nagsupport ng run like meralco, hyundai, isuzu etc. nakita ko un loot bag, wow! wlang laman. how come namn na ganun and di pa maganda ang shirt.. what happen? is there some corrupion happen? wla freebies n gatorade upon finishing the race? ganun din last year wlang loot bag. kawawa namn ang ng full marathon. be considerate sana ang organizer dito, international pa namn ang tawag dba!

  22. This run can be improved pa sana given na the route is very nice, wide and challenging. La Mesa Dam view was picturesque. So many nice things about the run. Sana ayusin nila yun hydration next year, gatorade galore sana since very crucial ang sports drink lalo na sa mga long distance ang tatakbuhin. Or if mag serve ng water sana man lang chilled.

  23. From 1-10 I rate QCIM @ 6.

Here are the positive and negative comments:

    Positive:
    1. Weather is o.k.
    2. Gun start exactly.
    3. Route is challenging.

    Negative:
    1. Gumagamit pa din ng straw.Parang di gumagana magnetic mat.
    2. Lack of energy drinks.
    4. No street lights inside Lamesa dam.Di ba nila expect na 5am andun na 21k runners.
    5. No Gatorade sa finishline and kahit sa loot bag.
    6. No CERTIFICATE.
    8. TIMER nasa right side! Nakatago. This is not the standard for international marathon.

“bad/insufficient hydration”. even in the finish line wala talaga. Route lang ang maganda.

the giveaways is just an empty bag. the bread is coming still in transit.

  26. Good thing, the sun didn’t shine, kundi toasted 42K runners, and worse, dehydrated upon reaching the finish line. Unlike last year’s event, hindi pa man start overflowing na gatorade. Ngayon, between 12th & 13th KM mark lang start magkaroon gatorade. BTW, many thanks to Sir Jonel Mendoza, somehow i managed to pace along with him. I lost him though on the way back before we reached UP. Hehe.

  27. Thanks be to GOD! I finished my 1st ever FM and with a bad lower back. From start to finish wala na ko binanggit kundi si Almighty God, his only begotten son Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy. Surprisingly, I made it at around 5:52hrs. I really wanted to push with the run kahit masakit talaga sa likod, last night iniisip ko na kung kakayanin ko o wag na lang because of the risk, but I took it and surpassed it. Ok din at umulan, cause if naging maaraw, I doubt na makakatapos ako within 7hrs., siguradong titirik ako.
Anyways, congrats sa atin lahat for this event.

  28. Loved the route! As a run, it was good. But people will always remember the empty loot bag, methinks.

I read on the SMDC-QCIM facebook page that there were supposed to be booths where people could get their bags filled? Any truth to it?

    my first QCIM:
    https://wp.me/p1Jdpp-3v

  29. Inggit… Public school teachers were obliged to be at MOA to support the Red Cross “Walk”. But promise that I will not miss the QCIM next year…

  30. My friends and I have joined this run … some to try for the first time their first full marathon, my husband on his favorite 21K, my brother for his 4th 10K.
One thing I like – the traffic enforcers / police officers were good in managing the vehicles along the cirle until the corner of commonwealth they even stopped all vehicles when the gun start for all categories.
I pity the 42K and 21K runners due to a very poor hydration system … they cannot even buy ice cubes for the huge registration fees they were able to accumulate from tens of thousands of runners.
Sad to say it was an “international marathon” but it was a disgrace for Philippines. It will not even get a grade of 4 (scale of 1-10) when you compared this to other international marathons like the one being held in our neighboring countries in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan and Macau. Our is a bigger marathon event (due to number of runners joining for all events) but we had the worst give away at the finish line. In malaysia and Thailand … runner have plenty of food and drinks for the marathoners after finishing. Here … you can only get an empty cheap recylable bag after finishing 42.189K … tsk-tsk… the race organizer did not managed to get enough sponsors to at least cover some freebies and have a VERY visible strategic kilometer markings as well as a satisfiable hydration stations. We will definitely not join again this run organized by RUNNEX

  32. it was great…

    …running in my home city
…conquering the killer hi-way of the phl.
…running/touring inside la mesa eco-park (lalo na crossing the dam area). nice view.
…2nd time supporting QCIM (this time for 21k)

almost surpass my pr (2:18)… naka 2:19 lang ako :(

no problem with hydration coz i got my fuel belt w/ me (just enough for my last 10k)… never rely too much on hydration stations.

i think this is the poorest giveaways of all the running event i’ve joined. pero ok lng… di naman yun ang habol ko.

next stop… corregidor international half mary… will not mind my pr… just enjoy the road and the view there kahit mag 3 hrs pa ako hahaha

  33. i ran 21k n finished in 2:28.my bf ran 42k & finished 3:59….wala man lang kmi nakuha freebies…at ang malala, BINUKSAN ANG CAR NMIN SA PARKING LOT & KINUHA ANG NIKON CAMERA W/ 55-200 LENS W/ SB600 FLASH W/ RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES & 16GB SD, IPHONE,NOKIA C5, IPOD NANO 3G.N MGA PERA NMIN WITH DOLLARS ULTIMO BARYA KINUHA PATI TRIPOD NG FRIEND KO N PERA DIN NILA…NAG PARK KMI SA MY MAX SA CIRCLE…BAD TRIP PAY PARKING PA KMI NAG PARK NANAKAWAN PARIN KAMI.ILANG MORE THAN 10 NA EVENTS NA NPUNTAHAN NMIN NEVER NGYARI TO…NOW LANG SA QC PA TAPAT NG CITY HALL…NAKAKAPANLUMO

  34. The run was OK. ang medyo dissapointing ay yung giveaways. hindi naireserve ang sa 42k at 21k. pag dating namin nilimas na ng mga 5k at 10k runners (the blame is not on them though). Yung ibang 42k wala na ngang naabutang loot bag, tapos nasarhan pa ng photobooth :( The medal was a-ok and there is room for improvement sa hydration.

Next year, sana they aim to ditch disposables. pagdalhin lahat ng runners ng bote.

  36. @el pelipero wla din kming nkuhang give away 10k kmi, ang haba ng pinila nmin pgdating s booth bag nlang bnibigay sakto umulan kya pnang pandong ko nlang s ulo… salamt sa bag hndi aq ngkasipon..lol!

  37. @ 15. passionista
    yep i’m not alone.
although at first i feel that i’m alone,
because majority of the runners i saw
have their running group with them…
i remember that God is with me,
i pray everytime a part of my body
feels pain, and it just disappear after
    few seconds/ minutes.

    @ 16. twentyeleven runner
    thank you… yeah i’m now a marathoner!
although nung bago ako sa running,
marathon din ang tawag ko sa 5k,,, haha
guilty! ^_^ ngaun marathon na talaga!!
and i really feel so proud about my
time, 4:22… kaka start ko lang this yr
di ko akalain malayo ang mararating ko
on the same yr. i’m so proud that i started to run at the age of 21, and completed a marathon at the age of 21..
    hehe ^_^

    @ 22. Elvin –>
ako nga po si dragon ng Titans.
    nakita nio pala ako,
cguro naunahan nio ako! hehe ^_^

to all: may negative sides naman tlga
lahat ng run, but for me, i only look at the positive sides…
    Sobrang ganda ng LaMesa Dam,
i think only QCIM uses that Race route
^_^ The best! and kung icocompare ang QCIM
sa Animo run, mas kulang hydration nila, coz once lang daw nakainom ng tubig ung mga 10k and 21k runners nila, ung iba nga malas, wala tlga, unlike sa QCIM, marami-raming water stations, i always got a refill of water sa tumbler ko.. ^_^
    Congratz to all Finishers!!!

  38. Mga dapat tuusan ng pansin ng Organizer at Nang government ng Q.C dahil itong event na to ay International Marathon (Need Safety and Cleanliness)

    MGA NEGATIVE

    HYDRATION STATION

GATORADE DRINKS (ok sana kaso konti at di malamig).

    ROUTE MARSHAL

    RACE CLOCK
Yung race clock was too small to see (di makita!).

    FREEBIES:

(Nabulsa at Tinipid ).

    MGA POSITIVE:

RACE ROUTE: ok- di nag kakagulo

    WEATHER: fine

(kontrolado)

    CONGRATS TO ALL WINNERS

  40. …@ 15 passionista,
At first I thought I’m alone,
    because I was surrounded by
lots of running group who are
    running together…
    …But I remember that God
is with me, I pray to Him
everytime a part of my body feels pain,
    and the pain don’t last,
so i became strong from start
to the end of the race. God is my pacer!

    …@ 16 twentyeleven runner,
    thank you very much!!!
oonga mejo mabilis na din un,
although after ng dalawang 21k ko,
    which is both sub2
nung d pa ko nag 32k,(3:12)
    sub4 talaga original target ko
    for a marathon… but a time of
(4:22) for a marathon and this is
just my first time, it was really great!

    …@ 22 elvin

    …Congratz to all Finishers!!! ^_^

  41. There must be better information dissemination on this. I was one of those who got stuck in traffic since I had no idea that there was a marathon going on. Left the house somewhere in Commonwealth at 9:30am. Had to turn back when a u-turn slot was opened.
Organizers left a lot to be desired

  42. @leon@40

Kaya nga may bansag silang “Pulis Patola” hahaha

and oo nga, BAKET WALANG GATORADE FOR THE FINISHERS!!! Buti pa yung NatGeo, kahit Powerade at least 2 bote ang binigay. at may 1 bote pa ng 100 plus.

  43. well gaya ng mga naging haka haka ng karamihan ….at in the ang final answer….the race route ok…hydration medyo alanganin ang service availability,sa give awaysss!!! bakit tasty lang????!!!! ang laki pa naman ng lootbag…pero may pakinabang din naman pinangtakip sa ulo para sa ulan je je je!

  44. hays, daming bad comments. can’t please everybody talaga

  45. @ tryx: super agree po sa’yo!

IMO, this run like the MIM should not be dubbed as International run kasi nakakahiya naman po sa mga foreign runners community at lalo na mismo sa ating mga Pilipino.
    https://www.all-athletics.com/en-us/2011-01-19/london-was-nr1-marathon-again-asia-had-best-road-running-races

So far, Cam.

  46. SM has a bad rep in terms of sponsoring run events. Last year, they were the sponsor/organizer of the ACE Fun run. The race distance was inaccurate (10K was only 8.8K) and they never bothered to release the race results.

  47. from the QCIM 2011 facebook page:
“As race organizer , RUNNEX encourages suggestions and recommendations on how we can further improve the QCIM. We believe that the biggest room in this world is the room for self improvement .
In the interest of decency and propriety we shall only entertain formal letters or emails addressed directly to our Race Director or Chairman or blogs written in decent language . Rest assured that RUNNEX will continue to work hard to further improve the QCIM and make it a world class sporting event in the country”

In other words, let us write decent emails of our concerns and send to anthonyalbert.espinola@yahoo.com (contact email at Runnex website). Address it to Gerry Manlapaz (Race Director), Rodolfo Fernandez (Chairman), and Artemio Disini (Chairman Emeritus). Afterwards, post a copy of your email on your blogs, if you have one.

  49. It was my first FM at QCIM3 after almost a year of running half marathons. Didn’t register my target time of sub 5H but a 5:01 finish time is not that bad ;-)

The route was very challenging especially the La Mesa area and inside UP campus, plus the unending rain which was a positive addition to the marathoners.

It’s my second time running at Commonwealth Avenue though I only ran 10K at QCIM2, still no good at freebies and hydration even they have a lot of sponsors compared to last year’s event.

Worst is that the loot bag is literally just a bag, no single item inside :-)

But for the love of running, it was a great first time FM for me.

PS: Thanks for the nice pic Sir Jeff! I am at the centerfold :-) Nice meeting PF peepz again at QCIM. Cheers everyone!!!

  50. You cannot blame people who PAID for the event and expected an international event pero they got less of what they deserved.

The basics need to be covered. Runnex says they are runners for runners but does not really seem like it.

    • Guys! Please maintain constructive feedback and comments, iwasan natin ang mga chismis. The purpose of this is to provide feedback for this event to improve. unnecessary comments will be deleted. Thanks!

  51. hydration was really bad, Maynilad water, of all sponsors pa eh.

Moving forward, as a runner, hindi naman siguro dapat i-asa lahat sa organizer diba, if we really love to have a safe drinking water, bring it for yourself. May mali na nga sila, and ang responsibility natin sa sarili natin eh i-aasa pa ba natin sa iba? And also bring another water, or gatorade or any sports drink that you preferred ilagay/iwan ninyo sa baggage area. (Like this one malayo ang mabilhan ng water, at walang gatorade for the finisher’s.) At least you can still hydrate yourself after the run. Just lucky enough to secure a free rate kit on the last minute, otherwise we will not be joining this one. Nakaka dala kasi from last year, same problem pa rin ang na encounter, although mas nag improve ng konti ngayon re-garding crowd control.

I just loved the route, my first 21k sa QCIM, and the La Mesa Dam, ang ganda, malamig sa pakiramdam.

May this event will serve as our guide in preparing for our next long distance run. :)

  53. saw the long line for the freebies after finishing the run. did not stick around and left immediately. after hearing the comments above, i feel that was a good decision.

  54. with the closure of commonwealth avenue by half, they were probably expecting a huge turnout… traffic was bad near fairview at around 7am… Runnex has a lot of time to evaluate and make adjustments…

  55. QCIM “International Marathon” pa naman he he he from the highest score of 10 i say kapareho din pala kayo ng Manila International Marathon mas maganda pa ang Subic International Marathon. I dont think you deserve to be graded siguro just “REPEAT” na lang and study hard next time.

  56. Had a nice 21K LSD run yesterday at QCIM with running buddy Rose. We used the run-walk method at 3:1 interval we learned at TBR and so far so good, di ganun kasakit sa katawan after. Less injuries.
Thank you to Running Host for greeting me and my fellow runners onstage prior to the gun start. Kakaboost ng energy. :)
Sarap ng takbo lalo na it’s my 1st time to run the Commonwealth route. Lol.
Nakakatuwa din to finally run inside the La Mesa Dam Eco Park. Dami puno. Sarap din to finally get a close glimpse of the La Mesa dam. First time ko kasi. :)
In regards to the hydration, okay lang. Mejo off lang ako dun sa Maynilad water because di na rin ako sanay uminom sa tap water. Pero di nman sumakit tyan ko. Lol.
Buti nlang may Gatorade din. :)
    At may bananas din! :D
I crossed the finish line sabay pumatak yung ulan. Lol.
Fitness magazine w/ Maja Salvador on the cover. Lol. I was looking for the bread na sinasabi nila pero wala ako nakita.
Pero okay lang, I didn’t run for the loot bag anyway. Ganda ng finisher’s medal. :)
Had a good time hanging out and phot-ops with my PF friends at PF’s tent. I git my Puso + pawis shirt! Yay! :)
For me, ang jahe lang s event was the rainy weather. Di na tumigil yung ulan hanggang gabi. :p
Di kami nanalo ng condo pero all in all, i gave the run a 7/10.
Much better than MIM nung September.
Will probably run again next year. :)

:) and i agree with what you said, you can’t please everybody. sana idaan ung mga constructive feedback sa proper channels.

True hindi dapat i asa sa organizers ang hydration mo PERO it was presented as an International marathon, at least taasan ang standards kasi nakaka hiya naman diba?

Tska di lahat ng runners may pambili ng hydration belt or comfortable mag suot ng belt.

but the race route was good, silent killer nga. hindi mo gaano pansin na akyat baba yung takbo. thank you.

  63. finished my 3rd marathon for the year
a few points i wanna make

    the good:
    nice route
    enough hydration
    beautiful medal
    cool weather

    the bad:
traffic control… the run should be renamed BBIM (Buwis Buhay International Marathon)… imagine the feeling of having cars coming from behind you on your way to La Mesa Dam then having to wave cars off the race route going back to UP…biglang nawala ang mga nagbabantay when it rained

giveaway… the main sponsor did not even give a bottle of water let alone a bottle of sports drink after a run… I don’t think it’s too much to ask for that

  65. its quezon city “international” marathon

run and weather was awesome but the way it was organized was not very “internationalish”

wats up with the freebies? honestly sana hindi nalang kayo nag bigay, sana energy drink nalang and finisher’s shirt.

  66. and also ung venue hindi pang fun run, daming sasakyan and walang mapwestuhan pag tapos na lahat ng runners.

    do better next time runnex

  67. yes! the results are fast!!!
    ^_^ good job!
    top 105 lang ako…
    out of 689 marathoners!
    hehe.,., ok na un!
    achievement pa rin!
    Thanks ^_^

  68. bilis talaga ng strider, yan rin ginamit ng run and help. ako lang naman mabagal. dismal 10k result. worst 10k result for me.gud thing – the race kit was free from jazz runner.

  69. Paano malalaman kung pang ilan ka out of the runners? Hehe sorry slow.

Ang nakita ko lang is yun splits and yun how many runners na nasa chip time category pero I cannot see yun pang ilan ka out of the runners sa category. :)

  71. @ian carlo rinosa

mas nauna ka sir. halos kasunod mo lang ako tapos madalas kitang nasasalubong sa u-turns. congats on your first FM @ 04:22!

  72. My 2nd 10K!

    Good weather (not too hot)!

The way back was quite chaotic though because of the motorists — and the pollution!

Good run all in all though.
