Imagine my surprise when I saw the Timex Ironman Run Trainer 2.0 Box in my loot bag after the Blogopolis event a few weeks ago… a gift from Ivy of Timex. Thank you.
So like a kid who just got a new toy, I wasted no time in un-boxing my new gadget and take it for a spin. The Run Trainer 2.0 comes with a Heart Rate Monitor and a USB Connector for charging and interface to a computer to upload your training data to TrainingPeaks.
What’s immediately noticeable when I wore the watch is how light it feels, it’s light that there are moments when you actually forget that you are wearing a GPS watch, it then adds little or almost no extra weight to bother your arm swing.
After a few training sessions with the Run Trainer, it’s time to really put it to the test. I was able to try it out at the recently concluded Sante Barley Domination Run and Nike Run Manila 10K.
The GPS and the HRM is actually very accurate, no complaints there, it’s also paired with a large screen, crisp and east-to-read display that made this watch truly awesome.
The the watch design and the IRONMAN brand is also an eye catcher, got a lot of friends asking me about the watch ever since I started wearing it. So if you’re looking for a new “porma” running watch, then this could be the watch for you.
Besides all of that, the Run Trainer 2.0 is also water resistant up to 50 meters, haven’t tried to swim with it though, and it also provides vibrating alerts for interval training, pace, distance, heart rate and hydration.
Just in case I missed anything, just watch the video below:
