With a great sunshiny December weather, it was sheer delight to witness the 5K and 10K routes predominantly filled up with runners donned in their different PF dri-fit edition shirts and singlets alongside with runners wearing their Run4Change singlets.

The event wouldn’t have been so active and lively many thanks to hosts Patrick Moore, Michelle Estuar and Bearwin Meily who kept the program highly-energized with his non-stop jokes to the delight of the crowd while Iron Mitch went around, used her charm and solicited more funds for the cause and led a physical challenge among fellow runners.

“December is also Eric Pasion’s (President, Run4Change) birthday month and wanted a birthday run and at the same time an opportunity to raise funds in support of the RFC athletes. “shares Pinoyfitness.com founder Jeff Lo.

Among the goals of Run4Change is to provide for athletic scholarships grants for qualified applicants who wish to pursue Masteral or Doctorate degrees in Sports Science or related fields schools and to sponsor uniforms, training equipment and provide meal allowances for numerous Varsity Teams from different schools.

One of the highlights of this event was its being a Green Race run made possibly together with Nathan. No littered plastic nor paper cups scattered along the routes. Only refilling water stations. Right from the start of registration period, runners were informed to bring their own hydration bottles. Participants welcomed this environment-friendly practice and hopefully it continues.

Among the prominent personalities who ran and gave their all-out support were Condura Skyway Marathon organizer Patrick Concepcion, actor/model, Team Soleus barefoot runner Gerard Pizarras with his charming wife Ms. Jan Marini and captain of the National Triathlete Team Nikko Huelgas. Many thanks and see you again in the future races.

A specially-made limited PF Run for Change medal was also the token distributed to early 5K and 10K finishers. According to Mr. PF, the medal is also convertible into a keychain. Ain’t that cool?
The participants of the 1K brisk walk all had fun and were even joined by expert athletes of the said sport.

Finishers were provided with free “taho” as a post-run treat in which the couple of big containers were sold-out in a very short while! More Pick-A-Prize goodies came from L-Timestudio under the supervision of Ms. Judith Staples and her team. A lot took home cellfone cases, notepads, rubber frisbees, ping pong sets, eco-bags and headphones among others.

It showered with lots of raffle prizes from the sponsors/organizers but the most anticipated prize was a race voucher from an upcoming marathon event. Congrats to all raffle winners! Thank you and more power to all sponsors. Before the end of the raffle-giving, a special intermission song number was rendered by PF supporter Supladong Irish runner Jared Baliguat.

This event also marked Pinoy Fitness’ 2nd year Christmas gathering and launching of the solo red and blue PF singlets. The PF Family and Community has indeed expanded and continues to grow big. The debut fun run also wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering love and support of the different running groups. It was a joyous grand reunion graced by PF and RFC’s early and current supporters plus meeting new ones.

A lot of stuff is in store from Pinoy Fitness and Run4Change in 2013. So we better watch out and be on the look out as we anticipate a more and exciting year in running — the sport we are so passionate and crazy about!

Maraming-marami pong salamat!
