  1. @Ms_Mars: nagiisip padin po kung 21k or 42k. kasi pag nag 42k ako first time ko eh. tska kulang ako sa practice.pero gusto ko lang talaga mag 42k, wala ako pakialam kung hindi ako umabot sa cut-off time, basta gusto ko siya matapos.hehehe

  2. Hi, mangjose!

Something to do with your running (gait) pati na rin ang sapatos.

    HTH

  3. @ mangjose

Better pa-check up mo sa ortho, sir. I have been diagnosed with ITBS sa left knee ko after nag-lock yung tuhod ko on the 13K mark ng half-mary ko last RU2. Sa outside ng tuhod yung pain. Hindi rin sya lumalabas on shorter distances.

Am undergoing therapy now and hopefully kayanin ang MILO 21K (otherwise have to sell my racekit).

  4. @mark:

i agree with you and im convinced that online mapping services are just estimates. we can use them for directional reference but never for accurate measurement.

  5. @matabil; Comment No. 202

I have the same sentiments, still unresolved, pero this weekend I would really have to decide…

I am just a recreational runner but thankfully, so far I am able to finish my 21K runs unscathed. Sa akin lang, my interest is actually less on the medals, PR, Finisher Shirts (naka-tambak lang yun sa closet)etc… but more on wanting to see how my spirit, mind and body reacts to the rigors of training and the run itself…., yun tipo ba na after setting your sights on something and preparing, training to give it all you’ve got, is my best good enough?

no need to further wax philosophical because all of us have our personal reasons why we go through all this.. :) So whether Half or Full Mary, well, good luck na lang to all of us… :)

  6. @ ryan,

sir i’m from caloocan, ako din mag isa tatakbo 5k nga lng.. sabay na tayo pumunta ng MOA, wala kasi ako kasabay pumunta. saan ba daan natin? di ko kasi alam kng pano pupunta ng MOA pag wlang LRT eh.

good luck sa lahat nang tatakbo,,enjoy and be safe…

  8. go to moa toby’s guys!, 3 days na ako nagpaparegister 21 k and 42 k with all the sizes for me and my friends..anytime ako pumunta meron. i know subject for availability lahat ng sizes kaya better punta na lang dun. mahirap macontact yung hotline nila, sa trinoma naman sobra talaga bilis maubos because of the easy access ng toby’s dun.

goodluck sa mga 42km runners, i did registered na wooot!, last year pa last 42 km run ko, sana makayanan 6 hrs na cut-off, i just dont like the idea ng pipick up-in pag di umabot sa cut off time sa specific distance, it beats the purpose of pushing ur self to the limit.

  9. @Mang Jose: the ortho dr will refer you to rehab med. I am involve in the medical field you can go directly to the Rehab Dr. Para you will not pay the Ortho Dr anymore. Just an advice.

    God bless us all runners!

  10. @detectiveconan:

sad to say that b-tag are sensitive device and must never be folded. otherwise it will adversely affect your time assuming the timing mat will detect it even if folded.

  11. Great things start from small beginning….3k – 5k – 10..Growing-up 21 – 42 k… GOD Bless us All! Thank you NESTLE COMPANY!

  12. @detectiveconan:

registration fees including the contents are “non-transferable and non-refundable”.

i suggest that you just time yourself since your b-tag may not work as expected.

  13. @mangjose : i experienced thattoo,.. nagpatingin akosa orto and he advice me to undergo therapy,.. i ddint complete the session, but i continue the routine excercise and the exact streching specialised for itbs before running,.. and i bougt a new pair of shoes,.. the appropriate soes for me ( having foot analysis ),.. and it all works,.. since then i never incounter that unplaesant condition,..

just search on the net about the proper guidance,..

    thanx!

  14. QP,

I registered sometime end of May and received the race kit 3rd week of June. So that makes about 3 to 4 weeks.

I remember texting them in early June (if I remember right, it’s 2nd week of June) and they told me that the race kits had just arrived at their headquarters.

  15. hi pipz… i’ve ran in 3 half marathons pa lang. in merrell2 i timed 3:08, in merrell3 i timed 4:20, and recently sa frontrunner trail challenge2 (25k+5k) i timed roughly 4:05. you might have noticed all were in trails. i fear running in concretes. in fact i’ve never ran longer than 10k in roads in my past fun runs. i fear that the straight and leveled concrete might tell my brain to keep running. unlike in trails, you’re forced to stop at some parts of the course due to inclined trails, river crossing, etc, which you can take advantage of to catch your breath. i don’t know if i’ve just created this ghost or there is really a physiological explanation to this like my body really knows its limit so it tells my “laid-back” part of the brain to stay away from the concrete if i dont like the other “adrenalin-pumped” part of my brain to tell me to keep running until i collapse ~~’ …something like that. any word of wisdom from you pipz?

  16. @toots

this is a first. well at least the first time ive heard about your story. im no doctor so i cant shell out any scientific explanation about your situation

imho, its just you. you simply told yourself about this many many times which in return created this kind of ‘fear’. not unless you seek professional help no one else can help you except those who are in similar field

  17. @ QP,

I messaged Milo in their FB page, and they replied several hours later regarding your query, which was the same as mine. They said it would take between 5 to 7 days. I guess because the singlets were already available for distribution… =)

Mine is xl (2 pcs). One is for my friend. Baka may kakilala kayo. 09178316699. Makati area. Thanks!

keep on running guys! GODBLESSUS ALL :-)

  20. @toots

hahaha… ikaw siguro yun “adrenalin-pumped runner” sa last 3k concrete road ng 25k+6k valley trail challenge sa nuvali last sunday… muntik mo na kami ma-sweep sa road ah ü… hahaha just kidding

i hope you can overcome your “fear”, man. have you tried training for more than 10k run sa road? if not, try mo muna. much better kung may companion ka.

    sana makatulong ü

  21. Hi all,

    thanks a lot..

  22. this gonna be my first half marathon, actually hanggang 10k lang ako for the last 3 races na sinalihan ko first yung 10Km Discovery Trail Run sa Tanay then yung 10Km sa Petron Lakbay Alalay then recently yung Robinsons Fit and Fun Buddy Run yung last 2 Races ko ay below 1 hour ako but yung first trail run ko ay 1:22 whew iba talaga pag first time mo sa trail run but it worth it naman sa challenge kaya after the discovery Trail Run I switch back to 5km but there are a lot of youngsters out there I can’t out run them hahahaha more practice to me hehehehe

  23. just a gentle reminder to all concerned. it was raining during the milo marathon 2011 edition so it will be best to expect a wet run on race date considering the rainy season. include a wet run during your training so your body can adapt to wet condition.

  24. @SoloRunner – hi! how many days from the time you registered online to the day your race kit and singlet got delivered at your address?

  25. kita kits, i received my singlet through online registration for about 6 days (air21)…. first time to run 42k…. sana madagdagan pa ang magiging ka buddy run ko.

Itong last 10k run ko last sun sa BGC, mas nahirapan ako maglakad for 2days. After 4 days okay na ko maglakad. Pls advise what to do para di ko maexperience ulit yung pain. Okay lang di ba mg10k run ako sa July 29, milo? Thanks.

  31. @Maria Avendano: Do warm ups and light jogging before the race, that’s what am doing kasi.

Kung yong pain persists, better consult a theraphy doctor sabi sa mga posts earlier on this thread.

    Have a fun-filled injury-free run!

Disclaimer: Not a doctor nor connected in any manner to medical field.

  32. Hi!

Got mine yesterday via Air21 after 7 days from registering. Hindi na tinanggal yung Reebok price tag (P595.00) ;)

  33. @Maria Avendano masama din po ung over train, u have to take a 4 or 3 days rest bago ung mismong race pag short run,. pero pag long run 21k and up atlis 5days po ang rest nya. pag wla kse rest ung muscle sa araw ng race mas malaki tendency mag cramps kya nananakit eun.

  34. @mommy_runner,

I registered sometime end of May and received the race kit 3rd week of June. So that makes about 3 to 4 weeks.

I remember texting them in early June (if I remember right, it’s 2nd week of June) and they told me that the race kits had just arrived at their headquarters.

  35. kailangan po ba na 220 grms each ang bawat registry. sasali po kasi kami ng family ko.. and were 5 in the member. Ako will be running 42K, my wife and 3 kids will be joining the 3K. Big pouch po kasi ang meron kami. mga 1kg ng milo ang meron kami….could anybody answer my inqerry./?

Hehehe. Try nyo muna tumawag sa mga hotlines ng registration sites before kayo pumunta and dapat maaga talaga para di maabala sa mahabang pila. Hehehe. :D Happy Running sir.

  37. @Maria Avendano, baka iliotibial band syndrome. maraming causes if you check in wiki. if you suspect it’s the shoes then probably it is. baka nabago ng shoes mo yung running form mo.

yung experience ko before, my shoes was nike air pegasus. i was ok. i thought adding a silicon sole roughly 2mm thick will put more comfort while running but i discovered it’s causing pains at the side of my knees beginning at the 2nd kilometer of my run.

most of the time it’s really the shoes that change our physiology which in turn affects our body one way or the other.

check your running form here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ5u1FYgFAs&feature=related

  38. Hello, Bolt, thanks for your response. But I don’t have proper training, may be it’s one of the reasons kaya nakakaexperience ako ng so much pain.
Toots, thanks sa reply. I hope I can do proper training before the race. I jst registered 10k sa Milo Marathon.

Grabe mgparegister ngayon sa Milo, unlike last year, just submit the form, and pay the corresponding amount, bigay na agad ang racekit. I was there for 2 1/2 hours. Wow pahirapan! Pls organizer do something about this. Thanks for all your efforts….

  39. grabe malapit na malapit na to..good luck sa lahat..first 21k ko to and still on training mode and shit ang hirap talaga,,kalaban mo sarili mo dahil may times na sobrang pagod ka na at parang gusto mo na magstop but then ipupush mo sarili mo talaga. good luck to all and have a safe training guys,, train wisely and proper rest and food po for recovery…

  40. Was in tobys MOA yesterday to check on registration. There was a long line! The two girls on the counter looked confused. With all these events happening, organizers have to step up already when it comes to registration. Simplify please.

  41. @ jajaboy,

As per handbook, “Special drinks are available at every 2km mark exclusive for 10k, 21k and 42k runners.”

‘wag nga lang sana may halong tubig at ulan… ;D

  44. Dear Milo organizers,

This will officially be my first full marathon. I am confident that I may not be able to meet the 6 hour cut-off. If I get lucky, I might just barely make it. Still, I intend to finish it no matter what. My friends will be there and who knows, my mom too.

This is personal to me and so I only ask one request from you….never mind if I don’t get a medal or a finisher’s shirt…just let me finish. I will do my best to reach before the 7th hour or perhaps 30 minutes after the 6th hour cut-off time….but just let me finish the race. I don’t want no vehicle picking me up or some marshall not letting me go through because I intend to finish it no matter what.

I hope and pray you will they this into consideration. Thank you and God speed!

  45. Woooooh! Sa wakas nakaregister din, sana nga lang makaya ko at matapos itong 1st 42km ko, at tulad din ng ibang runner, i’m praying and wishing it to finish with no pain or any minor or major strain. Huh! So for all of us Good Luck…Go go go go….

  46. @angel.d.saint
salamat hehehe okey lang kahit may halong ulan kesa walang laman hehehehe
    @batabatuta
good luck kung panu man at kung anung oras mo yan matapos for sure worth it yan sabi nang milo KAYA MO YAN!

  47. I can see disaster in this event. Honestly, i don’t think most of those who registered here can beat the cut off time. most of the runners would like to finish the race decently – so if i get approached by a marshall asking me to leave the course ‘dahil tapos na ang race’ or ‘wala ng tubig at nag pack up na’ – baka makakasapak ako ng tao at mamura ang organizers. Doing long distance running like 21 and 42 need all the logistic support, security and ample time we can get.

Don’t race me just to leave me.

  49. Tsk tsk tsk!

I can sense some people who don’t understand the rules of the run.

There’s a lot of fun runs out there who DO NOT establish cut-off times, so why not join those run?! So you can run and finish whatever time you want.

Why would someone register for a longer distance if he/she thinks he can’t beat the given cut-off time?! Isn’t that pathetic?! You better train for it.

“Eliminations” that’s the word! Hope that fellow runners would understand that.

Organizers still have the choice to implement its rules. You join their event and as a runner, you should as well follow those.

  50. @lonerunner:

i agree with you! i guess most novice/newbie runners wanna join this race due to herd mentality. uso kasi eh kaya sali lang kahit imposible tutal puede namang maglakad kahit mukhang tanga basta marami sila.

and yes you are right and they are “pathetic”!

  51. Simply put, basahing mabuti ang Milo Handbook. Malinaw naman ang nakasulat don. Assuming the Organizer will strictly implement the rules, those still running beyond the cut-off must stop and leave the route immediately. This is for our own safety.

    Let’s train hard and have a fun-filled injury-free run!

  52. @iamnoel:

That’s what I’ve noticed here. But I guess those who doesn’t understand are those “wanna be” runners. Seems like, masabing tumakbo… or should I say, makapagsuot ng singlet, makakuha ng pictures for them to post on their FB account or whatever social networking sites they have. LOL. If you get what I mean.

I guess the cut-off time is given to everybody whatever distance you will be running. That’s a challenge to yourself and say “kaya ko ‘to” or for the others to say “kaya mo ‘yan” so you’ll push yourself to finish the race within the cut-off time.

  53. ..went to MOA to register, the 5K is sold out na daw and for the 3k and 5K student run cut off age is 12 yrs old and below..didnt know this.. kala ko the special student rate is for students to avail the run..we will not go for 10K.
.. therefore we are not joining! very disappointing..

  54. @elaine:

just learn from it and charge it to experience. remember what our old folks taught us? “early bird catches the worm.”

  55. @Maria Avendano

Ma’am the best way is to see orthopedic or rehab doc to find out whats really the problem po, ako ITBS nga akin so undergo ako ngayon ng therapy, hope makatabko sa 29 =((
