  2. CONGRATS to all RU3 finishers especially to the 32k finishers!!!

  3. great event… i finished my 21k pero bkit ako nagcramps both calfs ko masakit during 19k until i reach finishline. anybody can help me about this.thank u.morepower to all runners.

  4. Oh yeah.. During the first kilometer or so I was thinking, sure Men’s Health’s Urbanathlon had those obstacles gimmick, but here, the various smells on the route is the obstacle. Hehe..

  5. YEAH!! first time ko mag 32k grabe sarap sa pakiramdam, from 5k n mga run ko ngskip kgad ako to 32k.. nice RU3.. kaso bakit wlang certificate?? late ko na din kc ntapos 4.57hours ko natapos ..nice T-shirt at medal… nxt year ulit …

  6. first time to experience bonking in a 21km run. i ended up walking the last 11km after a strong start. the heat added to my fatigue, i even felt dizzy during the race.

worst PR at 3 hrs 07 mins.any help from our experts here?

  7. Another well organized race by Runrio. Yun nga lang, I have to admit, walang banana station sa 21K. :( puro powerade and tubig lang.
But i was able to beat my 21K PR ng 9 mins. clocked in at 2:31. :)
thank you rin sa nagpabati sken sa stage prior to the race. sino kaya yun para mpasalamatan ko. :)
i super love the medal and the finisher’s shirt.
congrats sa mga tumakbo sa 32K. galing! :D

  8. RU3 gave me the opportunity to experience for the first time a 32K run. It was meant as a prelude to a full marathon, which I plan to run at next year’s Condura Marathon. Before RU3, I participated in a variety of half-marathons. Running a 32K before a marathon has given me a plethora of lessons (which I blogged about in https://solorunning.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/what-i-learned-from-a-32k/).
I just have two gripes about RU3—one, passing through Buendia caused a huge traffic with buses and jeeps and we probably inhaled a great amount of pollution; and two, towards the end of the race, the hydration stations ran out of water.

  9. it was my first time to join a run……ang saya pala though 5k lang ako but i’m happy with my time…..10k na ako next run.

  10. It was a good Run, I never felt dehydrated!!! The Route was Ok! Overall Perfect!

However, here’s the catch!

We already reported it sa May Police station, and guess what???! hindi lang kmi ung biktima, meron pa din nagreport same case, and Lancer din ang car nila!!!

Security Guards? Konti lng nila para makapag ikot? Like 2 Security guards ang nakita ko that time, and madilim pa siguro nung nangyare yun!! d ko din alam baka pati sila Kasabwat?!

Seriously, sana there are hydrations stations in race sections exclusive to the long distance(s). P.O.Improvement for the next races.
Congrats to RunRio and to all the runners.
Next time! whehehe

  13. lol, there’s no shortcut to success! yung iba naman ata hindi aware na didiretso pa yung mga 32K runners kaya bawi na lang kayo next year…

  14. congrats to all runners specially those who run for 32k..kaso wala nga lang talagang banana during the race..nanlamig ako sa gutom @km 24, buti na lang yung kasama ko may dalang pera, salamat sa nilagang saging sa may roxas, it helps us a lot on surviving the race without injury and pain..:)

  15. thanks to ATC RUNNERS na nagbigay ng water sprays sa may petron BLUEWAVE really helps alot, @bunso love ur comment hahaha Congrats to all runners and thanks to runrio it was a great event and nice route i enjoyed it :)

  16. This is my first official 21K race. I normally do a 21K LSD on weekend, whenever i am in the mood running longer. For this race, my goal is to finish somewhere bet. 2:20 to 2:35 but my position from start of the race does not permit me to do so. I am at the back end of the 21K runners and most of them are wise to start slow. But after the 3km marker the gap among the runners grew larger. At the approach of Buendia flyover the runners seems to compact because of the walkers and same thing again in Edsa/Heritage flyover. Sponges are served near Baclaran hydration area and i keep my used sponges in my pocket in preparation for the hot weather. I increase my pace and was able to break my 16Km PR @ 1:50 and my left knee start to remind me to go slow. I slowed down and take walk breaks and my final 21K result is @ 2:52. Though it is far from my goal i feel contended that i made it through the finish line without any injury. For a guy like me in almost mid 40’s who just recently found the joy of running last Unilab Run Rio leg2 of 2010 what else can i wish. Thank you Unilab and more power to you Rio. I am ready to take your three leg run on 2012, hopefully my first 42K with you guys..who knows. =)

  17. KUDOS to runrio..thats all i can say..this is my 4th run and the best…not to mention the very clean portalet… astig!!!! mabuhay ka coach rio!!! finished 21k…looking forward to a full marathon on my first anniversary for NOT SMOKING..01.13.12…

  18. thanks gilbert..but i ate several bananas 2 days before and an hour before the run…i think the distance is too long for me hehehhe im 47yrs old. Much better ata mag calf training muscle exercise ako parati. what do u think? makkatulong ba? thank ulit sau.

  19. @BTx

you might’ve “hit the wall”. just keep on doing your long runs on weekends and you’ll find yourself a better runner after a couple of weeks. i usually go with 21-23kms.

also keep a slow pace at the start and just stay in the mid/end pack in the assembly area. this way, you won’t be enticed to go faster than usual during the first few kms. this strategy works every time =)

  20. i was late more than 6 min for my 32K. i don’t have time for warm up or even stretching so i decided to cross the starting line following the lead pack of the 21K. i thought i run in the wrong route but when i arrived at 4K i was able to spot the last pack of the 32K. i maintain my slow pace to reserve my strength and to avoid cramps. around 30K i felt the “calvary” of the long distance running. I was to hot and that area (30K) the organizer must provide water station or even a Water Tank Truck from MWSS to refresh the runners. Until next race! thank you

  21. congratulations to all especially us who joined the 32k, it was quite a struggle for me , new shorts were chaffing my singit ( groin) so it was bleeding the whole time. some even said brad may tagos ka hehehe but i went on dehydrated because of insufficient hydration stations for powerade, dapat gatorade na lang ang kinuha tinipid na naman, anyway finished at 3:02 my time sana 2:40 peron thats life anyway congratulations to runrio i know you can out do yourselves next time

  23. runrio website will not respond to runners’ questions or “complaints” because they are afraid to be questioned knowing the fact that they are intentionally robbing people’s pockets.. if I were you, ask coach rio himself personally right after taking a picture with him.. and expect for a lame and irrelevant response. =)

sana may 32k ulet next year try ko mag join.

  25. @RunRiot don’t blame the 15k and 21k runners… kasi wala naman akong nakitang banana station during the whole 21k route at bilang lang talaga ang may powerade sa mga hydration station during the event… buti na lang I brought 5 flat tops and a bottle of water which help me a lot during the last 3km…

    Congrats to all the finishers!

  26. Ok lang ibuhos sa sarili ang tubig. Basta isa o dalawang baso lang. Yung iba nga tinatapon na ang tubig after just a small sip (powerade pa minsan).

  27. Ung limited shirt daw i-ve2rify p daw nla ung mga runners n nktakbo ng trilogy and they send daw via e-mail about the details… According to the runrio staff

  28. first time kong mag 32k.. hmmm so far ok naman kahit 5 hours ko to natapos. haha pagdating ko sa finish line tapos na yung program haha.. then wala na rin small na finisher’s shirt kaya aun.. tama nga yung iba, kulang yung powerade. sayang puro tubig nalang yung iba. pwede na rin..

congats sa lahat ng runrio runners. God bless to all..

    ciao. :)

  29. CONGRATULATIONS runners specially to all the “FINISHER’s” of different distances. Stay fit & healthy for more future running events to come.

    God Bless You All.

  30. dear runrio,

well organized sila sa baggage. divided acc to category. tapos hinati pa per last number of the race bib. no hassle at all nung pagclaim ko nung bag ko. winner! :)

winner din yung carb trim na booth. may libreng refill. pati yung PT station. :D

  32. suffered a knee injury a day before the race but really wanted to join the 21k run, so I did everything I could to lessen the pain, with my last resort I went to nearest church and prayed, thank God and with the help of arcoxia I was able to finished the race…

  33. I love feeling my aching leg muscles and feet… for me theyre battle scars and at the end is victory… all the praise is to our Lord! =)

  34. nasan n ung mga saging?! nagut0m aq s last 3km ng 32k buti nlng my ng mgndang l0ob n ngbigay skin ng energy gel sa last km… salamat s nka black KOTR singlet!

Kadiri pota.. Badtrip.

  36. considering the high reg fee, dapat naman sana may isa man lang na power gel starting w 15k, as we know that those running for more than 1 hour will need it. saka please, portalet naman po along the routes,we all need bio breaks!!!

  39. comment 101 by Dave: hahaha!! jebs! you might have taken fiber (avoid it 2-3 days before the race) or you simply forgot to do a number 2 before your run… hassle ang jebs…

comment 106: you may have cramped up because you started too fast in the first few minutes… try to learn doing negative splits… or maybe you didn’t train well for your category… if you’re doing 21k, train for a 21k… i have already stressed the need to always keep your body at a lower temperature especially when the weather is getting hotter on longer distances… i am a bit guilty since i did use 3-4 cups of water to cool me down.. to each his own… also, take a pack of sport gel every 45 minutes… just make sure your tummy will not act up… ACCEL GELs are lifesavers… cramp busters…

  40. at isa p nadiri ako dun s tubig..may something n lumulutang..hehehe buti n lng hnd ako basta inum ng inum…pero srap maligo ng mineral water..prang asyong aksaya lng e..

  41. we were expecting na me powerade drinks and banana pero wala unlike the leg 2 kahit papaanu me banana and powerade drinks….sana next time meron na ulit.

  42. congrats to all runners.

It was my first 21k run and I exceeded even my goal.

ok naman sa akin ang hydration. as to the powerade. I saw some runners asking for the whole bottle from the staff. I encountered at least two instances. binibigay naman nung staff. mahiya naman kayo sa ibang runners na katulad nyo hehehe…

I almost hit the wall at 19km. my pace fell down to 7.40 km/hr. I decided to walk for about 10 steps and then run again. that did the trick.

I started five mins. late from the gun time. Had to lined up to pee.

I got pressured to catch up with main pack.

It was good. Didn’t suffered any muscle pains the day after.

    Next race is nathan ridge.

  43. @gary_m

    JOKE JOKE JOKE LANG! :)

but the point i’m making is that hydration is more critical for the longer distances. the hydration stations should be set up to better accommodate this.

sige. SISIHIN NA LANG NATIN YUNG MGA 5K at 10K RUNNERS. hehehe

    happy running bro!

  44. 5-7K before the finish line, found a new running buddy/friend. Nung una sabay lng kmi ng pace. I was thinking cguro, na challenge cia sumabay sakin, ayaw paiwan. I told myself, mauna ka na di nman ako nakikipag unahan..When he offered a me sponge tinanggap ko naman. Ayun nagsabay na kmi til the end of 21K run (sharing our running experiences). See you around soon.. ;-)

  45. It was hot but a good run, I missed the bananas. For me, running in BGC is better than MOA.The bridge after exiting MOA stinks a lot, I held my breathe for a while. Anyways after a long run, the smell does not matter anymore :-)

  46. I survive the 32K challenge!!!

    clocked in at 3:12

im curious kung pang ilan kaya ako?

    100+ or 200+ or 300+

dami pa din kc nauna sakin…

my last 2k is so difficult…

i run walk walk walk, run walk walk walk

instead of running my last 2k in 10mins

    para mag sub3…

    my last 2k – it takes 22mins…

    kaya 3:12…. but ok lang,

sbi ng iba, mabilis daw un…

    thanks runrio,,,

it was a very memorable event!!!

  47. The Race Results are taking a while. This is late compared to the past Unilab events.

Anyway, this was my very first 15K run and I just have to say that I had a blast. I performed much better than I anticipated. I’ve nothing to complain about. Kudos to the organizers and participants (especially the 32K runners)!

32K runners, teach me how to train and run the distance like you guys! Haha!

  48. HI guys!..

I prepared long just to finish my 1st 21Km with no time goal set in mind but to finish it just injury free. Thank God kinaya naman. Iba pa rin talaga yun 21Km from the 15km Adobo & 16.8km KOTR na ginawa kong dress rehearsal for this debut. 2kms to go nung KOTR kasi (1st time to venture over 10km), I was confident & laughing that I could finish this 16.8km…Pero dito RU3, I bogged down sa Km 18..I still wanted to run kaso ang bigat na ng legs ko. My heart rate was still ok (never going-over the RED zone)..legs talaga. I stuck to my run-walk schedule from start until Km 18 when I had to ditch my interval timer all together..nabaligtad na talaga yung run-walk ko..hehe more walking na. Managed to run pa the last 200 meters to the finish with ‘pins & needles sensation sa legs at pati sa arms!” hay.. Pero proud to finish my first 21km injury free. Sinunod ko lang po ang training program I got from ADIDAS MICOACH website..ayos naman & very scientific.

Im a doctor who started to join runs middle of last year 2010. But have been running since 2006. When I started training for this 21km, I was 78kgs..on raceday I was 72kgs. In the process of training, I went through (3) 5kms, (7) 10kms, a 15km, a 16.8km…then this 21km.
Thanks to my running bud, my GF…she has beaten me in all our races together. It really helps kung may running buddy ka.

Well done to Runrio. Very well organised.

First time I used the baggage counter. No hassle at all. When I approached to get my bag, the lady was already holding it.

I do hope next time that the water stations would have cold water all the time. Its quite useless to sponge yourself if the water is not cold.It doesn’t help.

Train lang po tayo train guys. Wag bibiglain ang sarili. Run safe everyone.

  49. I have a great run. i have finish my first 21K in 3:06 got cramps on 16K. I didn’t finish my target time of 2:30.
    But i guess not bad for the unilab series. Unilab 1 – 5K; Unilab 2 – 10K, and unilab 3 – 21K.

I need more 21K run to beat my target.

    Great run for the year!!!

    • Omg pareho tyo. Nagkacramps din me sa 16km mark. And struggled towards d finishline. @ KOTR i was 2:26. Was expecting ganun din halos time ko dito. But i ended up at 2:40. Di para sakin ang MOA venue. BGC route tlaga ako sanay

  50. Friends, with all due respect, and at the risk of sounding like I’m laywering for Runrio –

Bananas, energy gels and drinks are actually “nice-to-haves” and not exactly a minimum requirement. I remember during the Runrio races in the past, it’s just water – which I think is fine.

Ultimately, the supplemental nutrition should be our responsibility to ourselves. If we leave these to the organizers, then we are setting ourselves for injury.

    Keep on running everyone! :)

  51. @whit3knight – di ka nagiisa brother. same distance din ako bumigay sa pagod. naka 2:58 ako .. in any case, ayos naman. Ru1 absent ako, Ru2 unang 10K ko, Ru3 unang 21K. many more to come.. praktis praktis pa tayo..apir! Congrats!!!

  52. tama sila
im one of the 32k runners
na isang beses lang nakatikim ng
    powerade sa 32k route.

    bakit ganun 3hrs ako tumakbo
    tapos…. hay…
buti i have a snickers chocolate.
    energy boost na din.

    but overall, it was indeed
    a great experience,
    makes me wanna think if
i’ll step up to 42k sa
    darating na QCIM.
    will i….?

    still thinking.

  53. Attention Runners!!!

    wag tumakbo ng walang tulog!!!
    learn from my experience
nasanay kc ako na puyat or
    walang tulog pag may run,

    but this is 32k.
    its not 21k not 16k not 15k
    not 10k not 5k and not 3k.
    again it is 32k!

at first i run with a stable pace
but when i reached 27th km.
i feel that im becoming slow
    until i reach 30km,
    nagdidilim na paningin ko.
mainit na dat tym, at the same
    tym cramps, puyat, pagod, antok,
hilo, i thought ma-hi-heatstroke na ako.

when i crossed the finish line.
tuwang tuwa ako sa medal, and first
thing na nasa isip ko, i have to lie down to rest. i grab the bouncer and said
    “ambulance! ambulance!”
    inalalayan naman ako…
    nahiya naman ako daming tao…
    sabi ko…
“wag na pala… maglalakad na lang ako.”
    “kaya ko na”

haha.,., funny, but really got to that
    point.

    Lesson learned.
    prepare for your run
    train hard, and rest well.

  54. it was ok… mas matagal ng 6 mins yung 21K run ko dito compared to my 21K in Adidas pero for some reason mas chilax yung Unilab run ko…i like the idea of taking an individual pic when you reached the finish line & get your medal but we had to wait for 3 hours pa to get a hardcopy so we just left na lang… hope the organizers will post the pics so we can download a copy of it…. overall it was OK..

  55. It was my first time to run in Roxas Blvd and I liked the scenery better than BGC, but not the pollution though.

May sumingit na motorcycle sa route dedma lang yung marshals, for quite some time the rider was plying the route when suddenly it stopped, maybe some of the runners took the matter in their own hands.

I saw a fiasco at a water station near PICC. PowerAde drinks were being mixed with the trash para ata maitago and mahorde. Runrio should be more scrutinizing with the help.

Hindi lahat ng Marshals may silbi some are just dead weights and waste of money.

Aside from these isolated cases though my first 21k was a blast. It was a long time since I pushed my body to that certain degree and I savoured the ache. Thanks Runrio!

  56. I got my 1st bottle of powerade on my 1st 10 km. I was planning to have 2 more at 15km and 25km but I think they ran out. I hope the hoarding isn’t true. I finished 32k in 3:10:10 acc to Garmin. The 1st 27km was effortless but I was cramping during the last 5km and I had to walk most of the time. I wonder if I would’ve maintained a 5:30min/pace had I the powerade. I was counting on it! BIG LESSON LEARNED: TRAIN WITH POWERGELS. Also I felt nauseated 20 minutes after the race…I could’ve been hyponatremic coz I was only downing water towards the end of the race.

Anyway, the event was fun! Didn’t know the MOA route would kill the BGC lol

  57. kaka 10k ko lng nung chevy power run a week before runrio3, first race, tapos nung runrio3 21k agad, sana may banana stations din sa runrio parang sa power run, laking tul
    ong din nun…

  58. My first 21k run and im using vff komodo sports, finished at 02:24:27 (finish line time).
I was late at start for about 5-10min, but still able to catch up. Great experience and thanks God for safe and injury free run. Good hydration, but no banana at the finish line. Lucky i brought one. :)
    Congratulations to all finisher!

  59. @RunRIOT: correction lang po sir, 21K runner po ako pero wala akong nakita ni isang piece ng banana all throughout the run. i survived the run with just h20 and powerade sa hydration stations. let’s not blame naman the 15K and 21K runners. i guess hindi lang talaga sapat ung bananas for all runners. peace. :)

  60. I tend to agree that even though Runrio races have usually delivered with adequate hydration needs, it’s still our duties to bring along our water/fluids especially when you are the type who keeps on hydrating. I was like this before, I need to keep on drinking.

For this event, I ran the 21km. I brought along 2 8oz plastic vials (with Gatorade) on my belt, a powergel, 6 pcs Herseys nuggets, & several salt tablets and was holding a banana on the first 6 km.hehe.
I would usually take a sip still at the waterstations but just in case the sports drink ran out, I would still have my back-up. When I’ve consumed my Gatorade, I would refill this with water or whatever sports drink in the waterstations. Remember the rule, Nothing new on raceday.

Last race, I consumed my gatorade, just 2 pcs of Herseys, 1 tab of salt tablet at yung baon ko na banana (yung banana wala pa sa 5km!). The salt tablet, I just tried on race day. Mali ito, dapat natest ko na sya before race day.

Again, better na ready tayo, just in case ganun nga na medyo inadequate yung supplies ng organiser (or worse naipuslit ng iba yung supplies, though I hope this is not true). Thanks!

  62. @FAST 32K runner: Correct mamen, dapat complete tulog. Ako Hirap talaga makakuha ng tulog kahit mahiga early, plus distractions, i.e. makukulit at maiingay na pamangkins kasi wala ako own room.
Lost my pace din after 22 or 23km. Good thing walang feeling heat stroke, and I finished safe at around 4:06hrs. Not bad for an old dude. Yari ako nito sa QCIM, kelangan pa ng practice and proper nutrition.

  63. Had a great run last sunday! Hydration (water + powerade) was overflowing. Pinarerefill ko yung water bottle ko kay Ate watergirl and even offered me to have the entire bottle pero sabi ko half lang nung bottle ko yung e-refill. Mas maraming sponge ngayon kaysa nung RU2. Marami rin ice. Very organize and friendly ng staff sa baggage. I did not stay long for the post race activities. Overall, satified.

Walk for pasig river next sunday or not?

What did I got: Very nice medal. Loot bag. Most important: the experience. Not to mention, nangitim loob ng ilong ko sa usok.

i saw the ATC Runner team (with tarp) have their pics taken with Coach Rio after the awarding ceremonies. tuwang-tuwa rin si Rio sa kanila.
sayang i didnt notice meron pla silang mga dalang mist sprays.

  65. @justrunning
congrats on finishing your distance! same distance pla tayo. altho it was my 3rd half mary, 1st ko ito sa MOA route. i enjoyed the 2 flyovers and our friends and fellow runners all enjoyed our Angry Bird balloon!

ive always been in praise with RunRio events but for this one, i also agree with you that some, just some Marshalls were just like statues and deadma. konti lang talaga at bilang ung mga nag “good morning” and nag “kaya nyo yan” morale boost.

if that Powerade fiasco/hoarding was true, so sad, and very bad naman. coz a lot of runners were really looking for it.

  66. @FAST 32K runner
very true! korek ka dyan. hindi talaga maganda pag kulang sa tulog and pahinga tapos tatakbo ng 21K or 32K?

most impt, in any mileage, aside from proper training, adequate rest talaga kelangan ng mga katawan natin to avoid feeling a lot of physical inconveniences and challenges esp on race day.

    congrats for conquering your distance!
see you po sa next event.

  67. @whit3knight & @pyxcel

sirs, same progression ang tinahak natin..even though absent ako nung RU1..I was doing my preparatory 5km & 10km nun, 10Km sa RU 2, tapos ito 21Km sa RU3. I finished somewhere between 2:59 to 3:01. hehe. Tayo siguro po yung mga sabay sabay na ‘Alay lakad’ na nung mainit na sa Macapagal ave at yung last 500m to the finish! hehe.
