Last month, Asics, one of the leading shoe brand in the Philippines, announced that they are releasing their first GPS Running Watch, and we’re actually very excited to be one of the first to test and play around with this new gear.
Out-of-the-Box the Asics AG01 comes with the GPS Watch and an Interface Cord for charging and also serves as an interface to sync your watch analytics to the Asics Data Management Application.
Specifically designed for running, the Asics GPS Running Watch can monitor your running distance, speed, pace, calorie consumption, lap distance, lap time, split time and time of day, and since most of us are now running longer and longer distances, the AG01 boasts about its 10 hours operating time while using GPS (enough time to finish an ultra-marathon without a need to recharge).
The running watch also has 5 modes of operation, Active Time so you can use it as your every day watch, Chrono Graph Mode used when you want to go for a run, Run Data if you want to review your workout history, plus a simple Timer and Alarm.
Took the Asics AG01 out for a spin when I was in Cebu running about 5KM from our hotel to Shangri-la Mactan, stopped and took a quick snap at the GPS reading and an good view of the new Mactan Newtown in Mactan.
Good points are, GPS locked in pretty quick and measured the distance accurately, plus the large LCD display makes it easy to monitor your run progress.
At a price point of P7,950 the Asics AG01 comes in 4 colors, White, Blue, Pink and Black. No paired Heart Rate monitor for this model yet.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a value GPS watch, the Asics AG01 GPS Running watch is a good option to consider, the 10 hour battery life can make this watch a “sure buy” for ultra-marathoners. The Asics AG01 GPS Running watch is now available in all L-TimeStudio stores nationwide.
