The 4th Quezon City International Marathon fires off on Dec. 2 with the race route covering a major portion of Commonwealth Avenue and La Mesa Eco-Park.

The Executive Runners Club of the Philippines, the country’s oldest executive running club, has managed the race since 2009 for the Quezon City Local Government, under Mayor Herbert Bautista in coordination with the Office of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Runnex expects to attract more than 10,000 runners in the 2012 QCIM, which has SM Development Corporation as co-presentor for the second year. Attractive cash prizes and giveaways are up for grabs in the 5-, 10-,21- and 42-K runs.

A free running clinic is also held every Sunday at the University of the Philippines Academic Oval in Diliman, Quezon City to help prepare runners for the basic and longer distances.

  1. wala nanamang finisher’s shirt :( as usual SMDC nanaman yun sponsor sana wala ng pa raffle na condo para mas madameng feebies

  2. I’m waiting for this but surprisingly tapat sa Nike We Run di naman pwede mag refund..kung sana sabay na yung finisher shirt sa singlet kahit di nako takbo sa Nike dito nko sasali dream marathon debut for 42k sana..hayysss

  3. way back in 2010 QCIM napaka ganda ng quality ng singlet and may distance pa nakalagay side ng singlet. and last year nakita ko un QCIM 2011, mukhang substandard ang shirt pero may pa reaffle namn ng condo.

  4. Wow! Gusto ko to…! Even though wala pang training… Meron pang more than one month for my first full marathon…… Sakto lang ang price… Nike we run manila?.. Pano na? Gud luck sa mga organizers ng nike… Walang lipatan ng date… =] Let see…? See u mga runners sa quezon city… =]]]]]

  5. I wish the singlets are like the 2010 QCIM, they are really cool. Astig ung may distance on it’s side. Anyways i hope more freebies and much organized than last year. I’ll be looking forward to this. Calendar marked. God bless us runners. See u on the road.

  6. @limitEDrunner
Same here Sir Ed, last salvo for the year…

Sana nde wasak sa RUPM para makatakbo dito, I’ll register after RUPM to see if possible pa ba makatakbo dito…

    He he he…

    Happy Running… =)

    See you on the road…

    Takbo-takbo lang… (“,)

  7. Without Limits is handling the technical aspect of SMDC-QCIM. :)

This event may not be the grandest (no expensive performers, etc) and singlets may not be as perfect as the imported ones, but the price and the experience will be worth it :)

  8. waaaahhh sana may finisher shirt!planning on running my first full marathon kase..hello there Team WithoutLimits Phil..sana meron =)

  9. I just registered llast nyt at Chris Aports megamall.
    Im intersted here:
“A free running clinic is also held every Sunday at the University of the Philippines Academic Oval in Diliman, Quezon City to help prepare runners for the basic and longer distances.”

Pano magjoin or any contact details from the organizers?

  10. Without Limits was the organizer of the Brooks 2012 run and St. Lukes Eye Run. All I can say is they are good organizers! I will join this race! :)

Pero sana, maganda yung singlet this year. Ang pangit talaga nung last year, to think na may Accel pang logo yun…

  12. @Verticalfinisher
I checked last wednesday sa SM Fairview, okay naman yung singlet nya maganda ang texture ng tela nya, kaso mejo maliit ang sizing nila. Sa mga RU runs kasi Medium ako pero I tried the Large size halos pareho lang lang ang fitting sa akin.

Try to go to the registration sites first to check the singlet.

    Happy Running… =)

    See you on the road…

    Takbo-takbo lang… (“,)

  13. 4:00Am ang gun start ng FM??? Ouch,,, sunugan ng balat ito…. Im working hard for my 1st FM… Additional challenge and maabutan ng sikat ng araw…

  14. Good run, cheap rates, kaya lang di masyado accomodating mga organizer. Sana ma – improve din track, more prone to injury ang concrete cement.. But anyway this is a good run.

  15. Running in a polluted environment is like smoking 5 packs of cigarette. Concrete is the least ankle-friendly surface. I believe that the organizers will somehow be able to address this problem, as the MILO National Finals Organizers did.

    A good event though..

  16. We had the worst experience of running at this run QCIM 2011 … the worst hydration we’ve ever attended …. direct from the tank ang water na mainit (not mineral) and ni walang ice.

  17. If you have nothing to say good about this race and no plan of joining it, just please reserve your comments to yourselves. It’s a different organizer this time, at least give them the chance. And whether it’s smog or heat that I would be dealing with en route to 42K, it’s fine. Where can you fine a smog-free road in Metro Manila?

Just please let the organizers move the gun start a bit earlier, and my suggestion is make it 2 AM. Hope this suggestion makes sense to them.

  18. mas maganda na yung nag-bibigay tayo ng mga na-experience natin about dun sa last year na patakbo.para din naman sa mga runners yun.tsaka maganda na yung nag-sasabi ng totoo.

  19. comment # 47 has a point. There’s no place in metro manila where we could run with a clean air not unless its a Trail Run where you could breath some fresh air. IMHO, there is no perfect or hassle-free runs kaya nga palaging sinasabing “there’s always room for improvement”. Besides, madaming event na pagpipilian that suits our taste. Choose the best for you and run happy! Kitakits sa daan.

  20. @yuri 48 i agree. all pros and cons should be voiced out and to let the old organizers know what they did wrong and for the new organizers to take notes. kaya nga forum eh. parang martial law naman pag bawal yun mga negative comments. at the end of the day kahit na 1 million comments na toh or isa lang, the person reading this thread will decide for himself whether to join or not. bow.

PS you are running for those who cant

  22. I’m on the verge of joining my 3rd 42k for 2012….no pressure….matapos ko lang ang primary objective ko, oks na….sana more than 7 hours yung cutoff at sana agahan nila….yung sa RUPM nagstart ng 3am….pagdating ng 8AM masakit na ang init ng araw. Since Without Limits ang organizers, kampante na ako….hope they continue the tradition of organized races with this one.

  23. @masakittuhod,minsan kasi kaya against sila sa mga negative comment sila yung organizer o kaya friend nila.gusto ata nila kahit may palpak kang observation purihin mo pa yung organizer.di magiging reliable yung mga comment natin.pag-ganun ayaw nila ng improvement,

  24. I agree sana magawan ng paraan ng organizers na mamove ang gunstart total d mas eralier pa dn naman sa oras na nagigising mga runners and para kahit long distance d gaanong nakakapagod.

  25. Sali…hinde? Sali….hinde? Sali…hinde?

  26. A comment is still a comment whether it’s negative or positive and I agree 101% @Yuri’s observation for the last year’s event. We were almost playing hide & seek w/buses since the road was opened to all types of vehicles @ around 9am…imagine masakit ang busina ng bus pag malapitan ha. also wala man lang hydration upon crossing the finishline kaya tuloy kahit pipilay-pilay ay naghanap kami ng kasama ko ng mabibilhan ng inumin…may pa raffle ng condo nun yet most 42K finisher’s got nothing after finishing the race kht pa may stub sa bib na giveaways…these are just comments for the new organizer to take note para di na maulit ang palpak nung last year. Buti na lang may La Mesa and UP route na dinaanan na sobrang namimiss kong takbuhan. Happy Running!

Oha oha…

Additional wish: Sana i- brief man lang mga marshalls at mag conduct ng good moral seminar. =)

Sana ok na this Dec.2.

  31. @takbolero..last year pag-dating mo dun sa may batasan mu murahin ka dun ng mga tambay, tapos may humuhiga sa karsada na bata.kaya sana naman pag-nag-patakbo ang QCIM lagyan nyo ng police man lang sa may batasan.maraming harungas dun.si chief PNP tumakbo last year,sa dami ng body guard.di kayang kursanadahin.

  32. hopefully may malaking changes ngayon in terms of organizing (hydration, marshall) last 2yrs kasi eh yung runnex ang nag organized palpak talaga sa maraming bagay… pero ngayon eh withoutlimits.ph na at maganda rin naman ang mga results ng mga events nila very organized… imsure mageenjoy tayong lahat dito 99% sure ako dito… kita-kit’s sa huling HURRAH for 2012 :-)

UP lang yata ang flat for 42 km. So pwedeng sakop mo buong lane. =) Imagine mo yung edsa na walang sasakyan, parang ganun. Cool no? Hahaha

  34. @john… mostly “silentkillerhills”…. takbo ka nang takbo akala mo flat yun daan yun pala pataas na… yan ang napansin ko sa last 2 QCIMs ko… be aware para di ma-zapped yun endurance mo… one can still run pero bawasan ng konti yun speed :)

  35. A hint of good news. I just called Without Limits the other day and they gave me an unofficial advise that the gun start would be moved at 3am. Although I prefer it at 2am, 3am is already a welcome development. Announcement will be made soon. Singlet’s fabric and design is good. Way better than last year’s.

gonna be my first full marathon… aiming to nail it in at most 5:30:00 ^___^

  37. This is one of the most awaited races Philippines.

And this would be the best venue for you guys to do a PR or simple just enjoy the whole route and run the distance with a pace youre comfortable with, the pace you’ve all trained for.

With this we can help. Let us know your target time and we’ll map out which times you need to be there per kilometer. All you have to do is stick our tattoo on your arm, and just stick to your pace. And in no time, you wont notice youre already crossing the Finish Line. Strong!

For just p80, you guys can sport this cool looking functional tattoo and finish your 21k realy strong!

  38. i hope that this year’s edition will be better….. hydration was good last year so keep it up… just a reminder regarding race marshals not vanishing just in case it will rain on race day… para naman ma control ang traffic flow para sa kaligtasan ng mga runners… good luck sa mga tatakbo… run strong & run safe

  39. Hi po. Will you be closing the jeepney routes in Elliptical road? I’m commuting from Bulacan kasi eh. I was worried the jeep in North EDSA infront of Trinoma may not be able to get close to the venue…
