  1. I’m dissapointed with the medal last year it’s made of wood, I hope the medal this time will be made from metal

Medals only for 21K without finishers shirts as well.

  3. sana may medal for all finishers … not just the 21K finishers. It will inspire the beginners and start their medal collection/souvenir.

  4. on the positive point of view, last year medal can be use as patungan ng cold drinks and the story about it will start if your visitor/friend got their attention to it di ba?

  5. Why do you run? For medals? For Finisher’s shirt? For singlet? Or to have fun? Mga runners nga naman ngayon… tsk tsk, they’re missing the point of why do people run… People who asks this kind of stuffs are not RUNNERS, they are BRAGGERS! collecting souvenirs to have something to brag about… wake-up runners!

  6. pwede po bang maglabas din ng iba pang color ng singlet na maganda naman tignan para sa lalake, tnx very much

  7. @Born to Run

I agree even though I did not experience your time. Most ‘runners’ today are just bragging their medals, finish time, pictures, videos, etc… Some would even fight just to brag their finish time. Pampered too much.

You are just wasting your time in running. Lol! You cannot beat Kenyans for all the glory you have for material things.

THE REAL GLORY IS WHEN YOU BEAT KENYAN RUNNERS.

  8. @born to run

  12. perhaps, the runners are ASKING about singlets, medals, etc. because the prices have skyrocketed, too! Di naman kasi negosyo ang running events dati kaya itlog at asin lang… if you want the runners to change their mindset about these things.. then ALL current organizers should go back to the way the former organizers handle running events. Murahan nila, around P50 for 10K or even 21K.. :)

I think it will be cool kung ganun ang mangyari.. ang tanong, gagawin ba ‘yan ng organizer for the sake na gusto nilang maraming maging physically fit? :)

  13. For me, aside for the love of running, it’s the medals that keep me motivated. I think it’s a great reminder of one’s accomplishment. Whatever works for you right?

Singlets and finisher’s shirts eventually fade. More often than not, they have poor designs and like comment #13 said, they are usually made to look good on the ladies. Pero masarap syang pantulog.lol

A runner who brags is still a runner. And hey, I think we can brag once in a while, right? :D But to diss on other runners in the process, now that’s a different thing. Unacceptable even.

  14. @Born to run, munich, etal

I agree to your sentiments, though it ain’t wrong to ask if there are any inclusions or freebies. What’s wrong is when runners whine when there isn’t any.

FYI I have already beaten a Kenyan runner, but not at running. ;)

Kung tutuusin, you don’t need to join these events just to run. You can run anytime you want. So why join these events kung takbo lang pala ang habol mo?

Let’s be realistic. Running events is no longer cheap nowadays. And we also have to acccept that such events are money making businesses. So why don’t we get what we paid for? Pero kung run for a cause, then it’s acceptable not to expect much from the event so that more proceeds will be given sa beneficiary.

  17. @ Born to run, Please let us know when is your next run. I presumed you were now running long distances. pagdating mo sa finished line, wag mo tanggapin whatever offers ng event ha, (i.e. freebies, medal, shirt) dalhan kita ng asin at itlog.

Tip lang mga dodong e2 totoo na to para ma beat natin cla Ang mga kenyan runners kc tirik ang araw or tanghaling tapat ang praktis time nila kaya kung if you have all the guts and determination do what the kenyans do….

  20. IMO aA, Vertical finisher and twistedhalo are right…Iba pala talaga yung tumatakbo ng na may gusto kang makuha…Wala naman masama mangulekta ng medal or finisher shirt dahil pinaghirapan naman yun as long as na hindi nandaya(nagshort-cut)..

  21. Ako hinahanap ko din ang medals sa mga Runs but I’m only running 21K and up para sure na may medal talaga…Ibig sabihin hindi na rin ako runner kahit na nakatapos nko ng ULTRAMARATHON????

  22. hey!!..when i did my 16k run and rciv my medal ma22wa ka pla it means they appreciate d long distance uve worked for and imagine d hardship anu bang gsto nyu dedmahin kau ng organizers? kng wla man lng appreciation s pinaghirapan natin.. we worked for this and we desrve this…:)

  23. TO ALL READERS/RUNNERS

  24. Maybe this is just me.

Perhaps the reason why runners are being too concerned about the quality of singlets, medals etc, is the rising cost of the registration fees.
This is just from a cheap-ass runner ok.
Come to think of it, when I helped stage a MOA run 2 years ago, even the Kenyan winners made comments about the items that were given away.

We all know that the glory of running is much more simpler. It is just the fact that we can transport ourselves and slice through the air with just our feet. But since we are being asked to pay for this otherwise free sport, well then, maybe it is understandable that we ask to get something in return.

  25. hay wag n kc mgreact pg may nghanap ng-ask ng medal….aminin nio man o hindi gusto nio rin yan…heheheheh
to the organizers, kalabisan po b kung mg-ask ng medal for all categories?

  28. Hi.

I see 8 major sponsors in their poster.

I see a not so nice singlet.

No Finisher’s Shirt for 21k finishers.
No Medals and Finisher’s Shirt for 6k and 12k runners.

Php 500 min. fee and Php 750 max. fee.

Is this run all about profit? There’s no VALUE FOR MONEY here. Hmmmmmm. :(

  29. why bother about the purpose why one runs? respect. its not your money. it is not you who will bring themselves to the finish line. it is themselves! if your standard of running differs from them, so what? would that make you a less runner? if their purpose is same as you, would that make you a great runner? slow or fast, both are runners. when has the purpose of running been not personal? people run for a personal purpose. why bother? just run and do your stuff. respect. period.

  30. It is simple as this: if you think runners that the organizer of an event will give medals or shirts for the finishers or top finishers, go ahead, register and run…But if they don’t, look for the other running event…Always read on the datails of the event first, before you ask….Coz sometimes nakasulat na nga tinatanong pa….

Wala naman masama sa pag-ask if there is a medals or shirts waiting for the runners at the finishline.

  32. Saw this on runner’s world:
“I often hear people say, ‘I’m not a real runner.’ We are all runners, some just run faster than others, that’s all. I have never met a fake runner.” – Bart Yasso, Runner’s World Chief Running Officer

  33. @mike: can you elaborate what do you mean by palpak? this is to guide those who will join this race for the first time.

  34. I respect those who really look forward for freebies, shirt, medal and other stuff (of course bec. you pay, it’s your right). But, would it be better if we do a self-check first if the purpose of each run being held is aligned with our purposes/objectives for running (may it be for a cause, or for fun, or commercialism, etc.)

    SIMPLE RULE OF THUMB.
-It’s ok to ask about things, but don’t be sarcastic.
-It’s ok to provide feedback, but be at least constructive and consider the effort of people organizing these kind of events.
-If you think you’re not or never been satisfied by how they organize the events, GO! ORGANIZE your own run events.
-But most importantly…if the real purpose, either yours or of the organizers will be just defeated…don’t run, or more right to say…don’t even register.

  35. IMHO i do not care about a runner purpose in running. what i care about is his behavior while running. as long as a runner respect other runners along his way then no problem.

GOdbless to all runners, stay positive!

  37. i saw the the first brooks run post race review thread in another forum and im surprised that it was 95% negative! now im having second thoughts if this second brooks run is worth joining.

i hope that the sponsors and organizers will be proactive and vindicate themselves so as not to make brooks a negative brandname.

  38. I still joined inspite the fact that they have negative feedback last year. Iba naman na ang organizer ngayon and I believe, everyone deserves a second chance.

  39. Mabuhay ang Brooks! All you need for running is Glycerin for road and Cascadia for trail at okay sa alright ka na forevah!

  40. i contacted brooks and the good news is the race organizer will be different from last year. this was in response to runners concerns who had been complaining of disorganized race support. at least we have something positive to look forward to make this run happy. :-)

  41. Missing my point, when you try to look for a race what is your standard? Yun lang un… And when you see an advocacy run mag mamatter pb kung magkano registration fee, or kung merong medal, energy drinks, fisher’s shirt?

Yes, I’m a long distance runner, and I’m wise runner. Hindi ba kayo nagtataka, weekly may running events dito? Clearly it’s becoming a business here in PH… Tapos yung iba magrereklamo pag fail yung nagorganize nun event. Another point, hindi organizers and magaadjust sa runners, it’s the other way around. Kaya nga may waiver eh, Tip lang, try to read it when you’re signing-up for an event.

I’ve been running for 20years, and mostly advocacy run, I joined Marathons abroad… (unfortunately havent beaten Kenyans)

My purpose here is to wake you up guys. In London you can’t just join in a marathon if you don’t have an sponsor, take for example NIKE, you can acquire their sponsorship if you have an organization to represent, a beneficiary…

    Be a wise runner… That’s it!

    My work here is done…

  42. I suggest, join race events with advocacies, kahit anong distance pa yan, you run for whatever purposes you have, you run for the benefit of others… yung freebies, secondary na’yon, anong feeling when you read articles about the success of that event? Join World Vision Run, You’ll see eating my nilagang itlog at asin while striding, i could even share it, just ask for my itlog nicely.

  43. Just signed up.

Pag mahal ang registration fee, dapat me medal at finishers shirt. Lahat tayo gusto yun.

Tayung mga pinoy, nagtatyaga kahet mahal dahil masayang tumakbo, first timer, etc. Maraming rason kung baket.

Kaya wag magagalit kung me gusto ng medal o finishers shirt. Lahat tayu deserve nun. At ok lang magreklamo. Para satin din lahat yun!

  44. we have all our reasons for running..wala na sanang makikialam kung ano man rason mo,diba??kahit na for BRAGGING,FUN,COMPETITION,etc purposes, bayad naman tinakbo ah..chill…

  46. how would runners encourage a newbie runner like me pag gusto kong magcollect ng medals for souvenir especially if you’re in your 50’s and just started to run. Thanks sa mga nag-comment like Vertical Runner and Running Wild. Do Born to Run think that even a 50+ year old like me would brag a collection of medals as souvenir. It is something that inspire me to run at my golden age. Gone were the days na Php 100 lang ang registration fee and no medals and freebies that the the running generation now are enjoying (though i admit na di ako tumatakbo that time). I just started to run when a 10K runner of one event that I watched have encouraged me to start running and I can start at 3K (incidentally the first run that i did is the 3K brooks fun run last year na mukhang kulang pa ang distance but with wooden medal and that was my first souvenir). Then i ran other 3K and moved up to 5K and it just inspire a grandma like me to have some reward (like medal) that i was able to reach the finish line after climbing the next longer category with a medal. If it is bragging …. it just disappointing to read or hear that from a runner na matagal nang tumatakbo na sa halip na maka-inspire like Ms. Mars will brand us “braggers”. We admire and respect runners that go long distances but sana pls do have some respect for those runners who are just running for “fun”. After all short-distance runners also pay the hefty registration fees that I believed part of it are covering for the expenses of the longer distance categories.

  47. @ Mars … it’s always encouraging to read your positive comments in every results discussion. You are truly an inspiration to newbie runners like me.

  48. Brooks Run Happy 2

organizer: without limits and pro active

singlet: Brooks limited edition(original) available on May 16.

    21k finishers medal

beneficiaries: foundation for the Philippine environment

  49. let us accept the plain and simple truth that most runners join races because there are finisher shirt, medal and related freebies upon reaching the finish line. without these items running will not be a robust business as it is now.

as the saying goes different folks, different strokes and i dont care about a runners purpose in running as long as he is not a bandit and he practice basic road running courtesy such as no spitting and no sudden stops.

  50. Everyone has their own reason why they run. Neither of you is wrong nor right in your comments.

  51. PASS ang mahal grabe!! hindi sulit ang ibabayad ko dito.. yayaman lang ang organizer nito! tsk tsk IISAHAN nyo nanaman mga runners….. its not even for a cause.. ISIP-ISIP

  52. IMHO brooks run deserve a second chance considering that they changed the race organizer/director as mentioned earlier to make sure that previous miscues will not happen again.

in fairness the race organizer/director have a legitimate website https://www.withoutlimits.ph that runners can use to verify their profile, projects and achievements.

  55. Astig mo punksnotdead.. :)

Medals are just a token that you have finished the race. at least masasabi mo na natapos at pinapaguran mo ang isang race!

  56. TrOLL ALert na naman!

ano ba to? this site getting crappier each day.

    To the SITEOWNERS,

please take measures to lessen trolling here.

  57. yung mga nakukuha natin na mga item after nang run is something na we deserve after our run short man o long distance,,kung maalala niyo nung mga kids pa kayo diba sa school pag may nakukuha tayong something like star sa kamay, smile sa notebook very good mula kay teacher o medal sa graduation diba ang saya saya natin mas nagiging masipag tayo,,so its not just souvenir or item to collect its something na we deserve,di man tayo elit gaya nang mga kenyan atleast alam natin sa sarili natin natapos natin at may reward tayo… :)

  58. registered for the run kya lang i noticed na walang timing device na binigay sa registration so how they will time the run???

  59. @Lance A:

it is unfortunate that there will always be trolls whether we like it or not. irrelevant or provocative comments will always be posted here and there. just focus on the worth reading comments and ignore the rest.
