adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5 Arrives in the Philippines: Lighter, Faster, and Built for Your Next PB

adidas is taking its race-day lineup to the next level with the launch of the Adizero Adios Pro 5, bringing technology inspired by its record-breaking Adios Pro Evo 3 into a lighter, more responsive racing shoe.

For runners chasing a new personal best, every gram and every stride matters. That’s exactly what adidas is targeting with the latest addition to its Adizero family.

Weighing an average of just 177 grams, the Adios Pro 5 is 23 grams lighter than its predecessor, the Adios Pro 4. That’s a 12% weight reduction, complemented by a claimed 9% improvement in energy return through upgrades to its cushioning and carbon technology.

What’s New with the Adizero Adios Pro 5?

Rather than simply updating the previous model, adidas has redesigned several key components to deliver a more efficient and comfortable race-day experience.

Here are the biggest upgrades:

  • 23g Lighter Design: At an average of 177g, the shoe is approximately 12% lighter than the Adios Pro 4, helping reduce the weight runners carry over long distances.
  • New ENERGYRIM Technology: Replacing the familiar ENERGYRODS, the new carbon-infused ENERGYRIM construction provides tuned stiffness for stability and propulsion while allowing more cushioning foam directly beneath the foot.
  • More Responsive LIGHTSTRIKE PRO Foam: The latest-generation cushioning works with ENERGYRIM to deliver a claimed 9% increase in energy return compared with the previous model.
  • Improved Grip: The redesigned outsole combines LIGHTTRAXION technology with Continental rubber for lightweight traction, grip, and improved durability.
  • LIGHTLOCK 2.0 Upper: A redesigned upper introduces targeted ventilation, internal support bands, and an updated heel construction for a more secure and comfortable fit.

Inspired by Record-Breaking Technology

One of the most interesting updates is how adidas has brought innovations from its elite Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 into the Adios Pro 5.

The new ENERGYRIM system is a significant departure from the ENERGYRODS used in previous models, designed to balance stiffness, cushioning, and propulsion while keeping the shoe lightweight.

According to adidas, the Adios Pro 5 is also its most extensively tested Adizero shoe to date, with development involving more than 25 athletes across Kenya, Ethiopia, and the United States, alongside long-term wear testing and biomechanical research.

“Every record we’ve helped athletes achieve has taught us more. The Adizero Adios Pro 5 transforms those learnings into our most advanced race-day shoe yet, empowering more runners to chase their own fastest performance,” said Stephan Scholten, VP Product at adidas.

Built for Runners Chasing Their Next PB

While elite athletes continue pushing the limits of what’s possible in distance running, the Adios Pro 5 brings some of those innovations to runners looking for a competitive edge on race day.

Its lighter construction, updated cushioning, and redesigned upper are intended to help runners maintain speed and comfort deeper into their races, particularly when fatigue starts to set in.

Of course, running performance still comes down to training, pacing, and finding the right shoe for your individual needs. But for runners considering a new racing shoe, the Adios Pro 5 introduces some notable changes worth exploring.
