The Masungi Georeserve Trail in Rizal
By some random twist of fate, I found myself in a van towards Masungi Georeserve with celebrity nutritionist Nadine Tengco, plant based wholefoods expert Weizel Gulfan, hydration specialist (VitaCoco) Sheena Gabaldon, mountain man Jacob Gabriel V. Sarreal and the crazy bunch from Trail Adventours – Cathy Hermogenes and JP Yu
I’ve been hearing about Masungi Georeserve since late last year, since then a lot of photos has been popping out about the place, one of which is the famous web-style viewing platform that gives a spectacular view of Laguna de Bay.
Since the georeserve is by by reservation only, I heard it’s hard to set an appointment nowadays, especially on weekends, Masungi only accepts 3-4 groups per day of around 7-10 persons.
Masungi originated from the word “masungki”, which means “spiked” referring to the natural rock formations around the georeserve. Masungi features a unique trail experience, rope and hanging bridges and a spectacular view.
For those interested to visit Masungi Georeserve, here’s a quick guide.
1. Masungi Georeserve is located at the Garden Cottages, Kilometer 45 Marcos Highway, about 1 1/2 hour drive from Manila. It’s an easy drive, but make sure you reserve in advance, no walk-ins allowed. To reserve your slot, visit the Masungi Georeserve website at www.masungigeoreserve.com
2. Good Cardio + expect a lot of Photo Stops. From hanging bridges to rope ladders, expect a lot of Instagrammable locations. The trail is just about 4-5 kilometers and it usually would only take around 3-4 hours to complete, unless you stop and take a lot of photos.
3. Afraid of heights? Be prepared to conquer your fear. There will be a lot of hanging bridged and man made structures where you will definitely need to conquer your fear of heights.
4. Expect Breathtaking Views.
