The Brooks Glycerin 13 has finally Philippine hit the market, and I’m super lucky to be one of the first to get to test it out! The Glycerin 13 is the newest neutral running shoe that’s designed to give maximum cushioning, supreme comfort and a smooth ride.

The Glycerin 13 comes with several tech updates starting with what Brooks call the Super DNA Midsole, it’s an adaptable midsole material that combines plushness with adaptability and provides 25% more cushioning compared to standard Brooks DNA, it works by using a material that adapts to the specific force you apply to it, in short, the cushion adapts and reacts to your specific weight, pace or gait, giving you that smooth ride.

Then using a revolutionary technology process, Brooks 3D Fit Printed the shoe upper, I was quite surprised how the upper feels when you started running with the shoe, there seems to be no hotspots, true enough after a half-marathon with the shoe, no blisters whatsoever.

Some other technologies include Ideal Pressure Zones that distribute the pressure evenly under your foot and a segmented crash pad (shaped like a caterpillar) in the midsole that works as an integrated shock absorbers whenever your foot hits the ground.

On the downside, the Glycerin is a bit heavy for a neutral shoe weighing at around 11.3 pounds, compared to the usual 8-9 pounds, probably mainly because of the extra cushioning and the new upper.

I was able to log around 50KM in the Glycerin 13 before I wrote this. One thing I love about any shoe is if I can completely forget about them when running, the Brooks Glycerin 13 gave me that feeling, second is if I unconsciously I find myself lacing up with it again and again run after run, it means i’m quite comfortable and confident about the performance of the shoe. And lastly, did I mention I love the color too?
