      • i dont agree with your point…kahit anong tulin mu, medyo mahihirapan ka na maiwasan ang mga walkers dahil sa mga sumusunod.
        1. there are a few waves on the gun start.
        2. 10k merges with 21k @ 5K 10k-u-turn
        3. 5K runner merges with 10k and 21k runner 2Kms to the finish line..

        gaya ng mga nasasabi rito, walang issue kung walker ka..to each his own. you pay for the registration, you decide on how you finish the event.. ang siste lang, alamin mu ang simple rule na walkers should be on the right side para di nakakaabala..

        Yung iba, biglang hihinto pa..hayyyyy makakadisgrasya!

      • yap i also observed pag ganitong mga running or marathon events be courteous nman or diplomatic sa right side kau maglakad wag sa gitna or inner lane kc nkka-apekto sa mga ibang runners bear in mind wag hhrang sa mga tumatakbo pa di yung nasa gitna or inner lane just an opinion dont be pasaway my fellow runners ok.thx

  1. Had a great run. Very well organized. Rio brought halogen lamps along Roxas because the road wasn’t well lit. It shows that he preps his races well. The water stations were also very sufficient.

    Nope… not going to complain about the walkers. To each his own. They didn’t bother me and I got a new PB.

    Also, if anybody here is willing to donate their Large singlet to me, I am willing to buy them — kahit used. Need to give something to my gf’s father. He asked for it a few days ago when the reg was already closed. Please help a brother out. 0932 666 1801

  2. i have no issue with walkers..i mean those walkers who walk on the right sde..for those who walk on the left side…get out of my way!!!!!

  3. i have no problem sa mga 21k walkers (ang dami nga walkers… training sana bago dumating race day)… ang layo ko naman sa kanila… effective yun ginawa ng marshalls sa flyovers… marshalls holding plastic straw line para ma-separate yun papunta sa baclaran and yun papunta na sa luneta. na beat ko yun personal’s best ko by 4 mins pero mas mababa pa sana time ko kundi lang masyado crowded yun last 1.5km… 5k 10k runners tumatawid sa lane ng 21k… lalo na sa last waterstation positioned sa lane ng 21k… nag warning, nag excuse na ako that i will pass thru (kasi hindi ako iinom sa last waterstation) pero mga walang pakelam sa pagtawid kaya ayun nagka banggaan kami….dalawa sila… nag sorry naman ako kahit papano

  4. hindi q man na beat PR ko.nakasabay q naman asawa ko b4 mgfinish line hehe :) yun lang sobrang daming walker and daming tao. hirap sumingit. kya ang tgal makalabas…anyway good job RU1..see you next run. 32km! :)

  5. I don’t get this thread. Before the race, everybody is scrutinizing me because of how I classify walkers from runners. Post race, meron din nagrereklamo sa mga walkers. Ang point ko lang naman is, kung sumali ka sa isang running event, di ba dapat magtraining ka? Parang school exam yan eh. Pero eto hindi mo to madadaya. And your performance will definitely show on Race Day. Kung nagbayad ka ng mahal for this race, dapat you should give this race a priority. Hindi yung tatakbo ka lang pag race day na. Tapos hindi pa marurunong tumabi ung mga naglalakad. Nakakainis diba?

    • pano isa ka pang makupad! dinidiscriminate mo sila on ur posts!iba na pinaglalaban mo ehh!sige give them tips pero ung mang discourage ka?para kang di nang galing sa paglalakad..well if from the start na mahook ka sa running ehh di ka naging walker good for you…pero looking at ur sentiments seems like you still have more training to do din…so sakin pards better focus on training pra mapabilis mo pa sarili mo and mapalakas endurance ng sa ganun matigil na nguynguy mo with walkers..*tap tap

    Well organized, walang hassle ang claiming ng fshirt, apaw hydration at sponges (kaya lang andami yatang unggoy at di ako nakakuha ng saging hehe)

    At may “Parokya Ni Edgar” live performance pa!

    Two thumbs up, wala na akong masabi.

    I will be looking forward to the next event of this series!!!

  7. I enjoyed the run…overall it was a well organized run. I have nothing againts walkers since this is called a “Fun” run. This event encourages health awareness and develop an active lifestyle. I’m not sure why other people are complaining about walkers. I understand that walkers sometimes are unaware of marathon/ running courtesy. It’s part of it anyway, the important thing is we all had a fun and healthy Run United 1 Run. :)

    I got my PR record yesterday though…I finished the 21k below 2 hours. :)

    • Ang nagyayari kasi…yung mga walkers e bigla na Lang hihinto without considering na may runners pa sa likod nila. Ang hirap na tumatakbo at a certain pace tapos biglang hihinto yung nasa harap para Mag-selfie. Dahil jan, Hindi na nage-enjoy yung iba.

      Sa akin, ok lang mga walkers pero be considerate naman sa ibang runners. Kung maglalakad o Magee-selfie, pwede namang gumilid para Hindi makaistorbo sa iba. :)

    • Well said.:D siguro dapat included yung running ethics sa race kit. Mahirap nga lalo na kung mabilis ka kung crowded. congrats fellow sub-2 runner! :D

  8. I think I saw Rio on a bike guiding the 5k and 10k runners, or it could someone else. If its him, then its good to have the top man being on the street seeing the action.

    • i believe it’s Rio.. nakita ko rin yata sya nung ru3 last year na naka bike na nag guide sa runners ng 42k sa bgc…

  9. Thank you Runrio, I do not have any issues with walkers I support them :) sana lang po they just have the courtesy to walk on side of the road and give way to the joggers/runners. Yes, runrio event becomes overcrowded, but we still choose to join because it’s FUN. Request lang po sana, if the RUPM2 32K starts at 3am, hopefully the RUPM3 42K will start as early as 2am, please lang po Rio. You can do it in Cebu and for Condura, I believe Makati/Taguig and Paranaque/Pasay/Manila will support you :) Thank you and may God bless you more.   10. As usual for Runrio events, RU1 was organized. But there are some things to improve on sana for their next event.

    1.) Lights in the flyover in Roxas BLVD. – It was pretty dark when the 21km event started and there were no lights in the flyovers of Roxas Blvd. Meron pa silang itim na lubid which I think caused somebody to trip dahil hindi makita.

    2.) Bananas – Naubos ang bananas kasi naging free for all. Ang pwesto kasi niya pwede makunan ng 10km runners. I think mas makakatulong sana siya for the 21km runners. If ever meant to be for all ang bananas, sana niramihan nila.

    3.) Finisher shirt claiming – Grabe ang pila for the X-XS claiming ng shirts. Parang pila sa MRT. Sana dinagdagan nila tao dun kasi most of the runners, dun talaga pumipila.

    Yun lang po! Congrats to all finishers!

    • uu pati nga hndi kasali binibigyan ng drinks at bananas, wala naman masama sana kung nabibigyan at hindi nahuhuli bigyan ang mga participants. hayst

  11. It was a good run. Well sana intindihin natin yung mga walkers naglalakad sila kasi hindi na kaya ng mga paa nila. Kumbaga some of them can’t afford or muster enough strength to move aside or the walker zone or whatever you call it. Cause if they have, they could’ve observed the runners etiquette. So dun sa mga mabibilis dyan paki-unawa na lang isipin nyo nagsimula din kayo sa ganyan.

    Yung mga walkers makikita mo sila sa bandang likuran, if you are really fast or you are really jogging/ running your way to the finish then chances are you have small probabilities of encountering these people.

      Gaya ng mga walkers, nagbayad din yung mga gustong tumakbo, but the difference is that they are not able to finish the event the way they want it because of those walkers and stoppers on the wrong place..

      • Ganto lang yan pag nagdadrive ka.
        Hindi sa akin o sayo ang kalsada.
        Hindi ka at hindi din ako hari ng daan.
        Kung gusto mo humarurot gawin mo kasi malawak ang kalsada maghanap ka ng dadaanan mo kasi may lakas ka pa na gawin yun kasi ang iba sa kanila wala ng lakas na katulad mo para tumabi sa daan at obserbahan ang running etiquette mo.

        Do not make an excuse kung pangit ang PR mo.
        Wag mo idahilan ang walkers kung bakit bumagal ka.
        Im in defense with these walkers kasi at one point of my running life i had to slow down and had to take a walk kasi i pushed myself to the limits. dude you should understand that some of them are not athletes or regular runners like us.

        Lastly without Walkers malamang wala din mga Running Events one must accept the fact na mas marami talaga ang walkers kumpara sa runners.

        Running etiquette only makes the world small it doesn’t even make you fast.
        Understanding your fellow runner and aspiring runner will make the running world a better place.

  12. another suggestion to stay on pace while running is to place time markers at the start such as elite runners, sub 2, sub 2:30 or 3 hours where runners will know their pace. Ginawa na to sa QCIM before. yes, I practice courtesy when I do walking breaks and stay at the right side of the road. I did trained hard for this run suggestion ko for newbies dalasan nyo yung long runs when training. I ran 10k & 16k every weekend with 1 min walking break every kilometer. beat my PR improve to 2:35

  13. Kudos Runrio for an awesome event yesterday! Saw Coach Rio at the Buendia Flyover intructing the runners. Nagkaubusan nga lang ng saging. Sana dinamihan nila since yung location is nasa dadaanan ng 10k and 21k runners. Yun lang poh, regarding sa Walkers Issues, no comment na lang poh since nung mapost pa lang yung event na to sa PF issue na sya. Bsta ako sa right side ako nag iistay when walking. Start with ourselves first… :)

  14. TO: The Shield, Tau_runnr, Rvn & kakatakbo… Huwag kasi kayong natutulog sa pansitan. Agahan niyo pa-register next leg. Kasi di niyo na makukumpleto yung trilogy, panu ba yan? Abang na lang next year ulit pag may time.

    • as i said earlier…wala akong issue with walkers. jan ako nagsimula e. ang mahirap lang kasi sa ibang walkers at yung mga nagse-selfie (Hindi ko nilalahat), hindi nila nai-isip o iniisip na may mga tao sa likod nila at pwedeng magkaroon ng disgrasya kung bigla na lang silang hihinto para magpahinga o mag selfie. kung gusto nila gawin yung ok lang pero tumabi sana para hindi sila naka harang at para makaiwas sa disgrasya.

    • Tama ka chrizcruz… sana before sumali sa mga ganitong event eh dapat may plan sa training (kilala nyo naman siguro si google diba?).. at higit sa lahat mag practice din kahit 3 times a week lang.. … proud ka nga na suot mo ang 21k finisher pero halos half ng distance e nilakad naman… e-respito nyo rin ang distance at mag-practice din pag-may time.. peace :)

      • sa tingin ko di yan sa lakas ng loob gusto lang nilang maging IN…kahit kulang sa practice magpapareg pa din kasi wala naman cut off kung gagawin tulad ng MILO yan malamang kalahati ang uurong dyan..dapat ipromote yung tamang DISIPLINA sa pagtakbo di yun takbo lang ng takbo.. sana sa RU 2 lagyan na ng cut off ang 21 at 32k. Kung nahihirapan sa actual run mas mahirap ang magtraining dahil wala kang ibang aasahan kung hindi sarili mo. After a year of running dadating ka sa point na magsasawa na sa patakbo ni RIO…. bibilib ako siguro kay coach kung magpapatakbo sya ng SUB2 sa 21k….at dun sana sa mga nag RU 1 alamin natin yun totoong meaning bakit yan ginawang trilogy.. di yan sa MEDAL o sa FS kung hindi preparation yan sa FM sa loob ng isang taon. tnx

  15. Sa mga kasamahan natin mga runners/walkers,

    ok lang naman po maglakad basta nasa tabi po ng daan at nakasingle file. Lalo na doon sa fly-over, alam naman natin na maliit lang ang daan sana lang po magbigay tayo ng daan sa mga tumatakbo. Respeto lang po sa kapwa natin runner/walker. I don’t have anything against sa mga walkers kasi naglalakad din ako ng nagsisimula pa lang ako sumasali sa mga fun runs.

    marunong po sana tayo magtapon ng cups sa basurahan. Di lang po tayo ang dumadaan sa rota. Isipin po natin na marami pa sumusunod sa atin. Marami po plastic at paper cups nagkalat sa rota. If di kayo marunong magtapon, magdala na lang kayo ng hydration bottle/belt at magrefill na lang sa mga hydration station.

    For RunRio,

    Sana next time po pag-aralan yung rota and anticipate yung possible bottlenecks. Sa naobserbahan ko po nagkabottle-neck sa flyovers dahil sa liit ng daan at dami ng walkers na ayaw tumabi. Mas mabuti sana kung doon muna papuntang KM0(Luneta) yung rota para mapahaba yung gap ng faster runners, slower runners at walkers, in that way, di na masyado crowded doon sa 2 fly-over. (Sana lang walang sumabit doon sa nakausling metal reflector sa may fly-over. Muntikan na ako doon.)

    Maganda din po sana yung may target finish time markers. Para guided yung mga runners saan pwepwesto. At saka ayusin yung starting area, nasa gitna ang entrance, nagsisikan mga runners sa gitna at harap samantalang ang luwag sa likod. Sana doon sa likod nilagay ang entrance.

    Just my 2 cents.

  16. Bkit ba kayo affected ng mga Walker?
    1. Di kayo nakapagregister dahil naunahan kayo ng mga walker sa registration?
    2. Late kayo dumating sa venue kaya sa dulong wave kayo at feeling nyo elite kayo na nagmamadali at haharang harang ang mga walker?
    3. 4hours ang cut-off so hindi bawal ang maglakad.
    4. Wag kayo mag malaki baka di nyo pa nagagawa ang sub-1 (10K) or sub-2 (21k).
    5. yung mga elite nga at podium finisher eh hindi ganyan ugali kayo pang nagiging mabilis lang dahil may walker..baka kayo ang tawagin slow runner pag walang nakasaling walker..

    importante as long as pasok ka sa cut-off deserve ka sa medal at fs. pero kung mabilis ka dahil shortcutter ka ikaw ang di deserving… yan ang dapat bantayan..

    • wala naman po problema sa pagiging walker, ang problema yung road etiquette. Magbigay po tayo ng daan sa mga tumatakbo. Sa nakikita ko kahapon, may mga naglalakad na nagkwekwentuhan. Buti sana kung 2 lang magkatabi, meron 3-4 ka tao, lalo na doon sa 2 fly-over. Di naman siguro ganun kahirap tumabi. At di din rason na wala na energy para tumabi. Isipin mo you can step forward towards the finish line(for your glory, fs and medal) pero for a few steps sideward(para sa ibang runners), di mo magawa. di ba?

      • i am happy that you sympathize with walkers as I myself is also a walker.When i bonked, when the distance is just simply too far to run all the way based on my capability..I also walk, but i observe that simple rule that i should walk on the right side..

        Parang pag dadrive din yan..hindi komo nobody owns the road eh you can just drive without following the traffic rules.You cannot just drive your vehicle @20kph on the left side of the road or you cannot just swerve anytime you want because you want to overtake..

    • Agree ako ky AJ part na talaga yan ng fun run yung mga walkers hayaan nyo na sila ksi ng bayad din sila at FUN RUN naman ksi eto kaya enjoyin na lng natin dun naman sa mga gusto talaga beat PR nila agahan na lng at dun sila pumwesto sa 1st wave ako mismo na iinis din ksi naharang talaga mga mga ng lalakad at sabay hinto pero wala ka magagawa isipin nyo na lng na challenge na rin yan, mga KENYAN nga di naman ng rereklamo basta takbo lng ng takbo… kahit na madaming walker naka set ako baong PR :) tyaga lang talaga until the next run…

      • ang mga kenyan kasi may mga escort na yan kaya hindi nagrereklamo. may kenyan bang pumupwesto sa huli. try mo papwestuhin sa dulo mga yan ewan ko lang kung hindi magreklamo din ang mga yan.

  17. tama c AJ kng runner ka d mo problema ang mga walker kz mabilis mo sila malalgpasan at baka nga late kayo sa start kng ayaw mo maharangan ng mga naglalakad d dapat sa harap kau d ung marmi kaung cnasabi at cncc ang mga walker dahil d kau naka PR hello bka nga kz mabagal din ung takbo nyo ako nga kahapon 2nd wave ako pero nasa top 100 ako dahil nalagpasan ko ung mga naglalakad ng mabilis kaya lang prob ang naglalakad sarili nyo na lng ung prob nyo minsan tingin2x din sa salamin tgnan kung wala kayong mali..ok doki..God bless

  18. ehh ano bang pinag mamalaki nung mga nanddiscriminate sa mga walkers? pag nalampasan mo nman sila dba tapos na?un lang nman un eh…if they wanna walk let them…just pass through waves of walkers pero hndi dapat cla idiscriminate..nsa kanila un if gsto nila seryosohin ang run o just run for the sake of fun… sakin mas challenging ung mananahi ka ng mga walkers kse sakin mas nkakabuild up xa ng endurance and it doubles my effort.. and it adds the twist on running na 1 straight motion lang… BUT!

    sa mga selfiemon nman utang na loob naman!wahaahhahahahaha dami ko nakikitang nag sselfie ehhh pero d ko nman cla naging problem since im in front..:)

    un lang nman…train hard to be in front of the pack…then your walker problem will be solved..;)

  19. I dont mind the walkers since kung mabilis ka talaga, maover take mo naman sila for sure. If you’re gunning for sub 2 alam mo na dapat ang pwesto mo ay sa harap talaga dahil anticipated mo na sa lahat ng run na may naglalakad. I blame my self for not meeting my goal na sub 2, not beating my pr na 2:03 dahil na rin sa kulang sa preparation like more long run mileage. What a difference 30secs/per km makes. Nasa 2:13 lang this run base sa runtastic apps ko. Looking forward sa leg 2 for my first 32k.

  20. My hats off to Runners na binebenta nila race kit nila kasi alam nila wala sila training. Iba talaga pag may training. Whats the point of paying 900 pesos just to WALK, and I mean WALK half of your run. Sana give yourself some time to train, hindi ung tumatakbo ka lang para sa MEDALYA. Para ipagyabang sa Sugar Mommies at Daddies.

  21. Wala naman problema kung nagwawalk sila, ang mahalaga nagenjoy sila at kinaya nila matapos ang race. Lalo na sa mga couples, like me. I’m with my boyfriend who really is a runner. He can finish the race less than 2hours dahil kasama niya ako we finish the race almost 2 and a half. Nagenjoy kami together and that is my first run ever! :) 21K. We practiced together before the race. And happy ako nareach ko yung goal ko na matapos ang run.

  22. Walkers don’t even bother us. Umiwas ka na lang at magenjoy. Enjoy yourself! :D We also walk kapag nasa water station na. Hindi naman ako elite runner. Why not try mo na mapunta sa unahan kung nasaan ang mga totoong elite runners na hindi naman nagrereklamo like you. Sana sabihin na lang ng maayos hindi yung nagccriticize pa kala mo kung sinong magaling diba. :) Yun lang.

  23. Marami din kse sumasali para masabi lang na sumali sila, yun lang. walang training training. basta magkamedal at FS at selfie masaya na sila dun.

  24. Diba sa expressway meron nakalagay na “mabagal na sasakyan manatili sa kanan” kahit nga sa escalator ng MRT meron din signage. parang ganun din yan sa pagtakbo. giveway to others lalo na sa mga gustong mabeat ang kanilang PR.

    • kaya nga sa unahan ka pumwesto at wag kukupad2…un lang naman un ehh… gusto mo pala pumr ppwesto ka sa buntot or sa gitna knowing na run united trilogy ito at madaming tao….minsan kasi pra mapagtakpan nyo pagkukulang nyo ibblame nyo pa sa iba para d kayo maging kapuna2…

    • The Shied, hindi lang naman ikaw ang masama ang loob sa mga walkers. Kungdi pati mga taong nagbabasa ng thread na to eh mas masama ang loob dahil sa mga sinasabi mo. GO i-push mo yan. Sa madaling salita, mag taxi ka kung ayaw mo ng siksikan sa pampublikong sakayan :D

Ang mahirap kasi sa iba nilalahat yung mga WALKERS eh, may mga WALKERS naman na marunong sumenyas na tatabi na sya or tumatabi naman talaga pag maglalakad na, pero ayun nga nahahaluan kasi ng mga WALKERS na bigla na lang humihinto sa gitna na hindi iniisip kung may mga parating na tao sa likod nila, tapos makikita mo mag SESELFIE lang pala kaya huminto, haha.

    Anyways, move on na tayo guys… Isipin na lang natin ang parating na RU2 at RU3. Mahaba pa ang panahon para makapagtraining tayo para hindi tayo mabansagang WALKERS or kung maglalakad man eh observe the proper running etiquete na lang poh. Syempre wag papahuli sa pagregister.   31. Wala akong problema sa mga walkers kasi darating din ang panahon na matututo din ang mga yan ng tamang running courtesy.

    Ang isyu ko ay sa isang taong palagi kong napapansin sa lahat ng thread ng PF, sobrang arogante…animo ang tingin sa sarili ay napaka elite, ang nakaklungkot lang ay malabo na magbago ang ugali nito.

    Sir napakalaki ng galit mo sa mga walkers, ano bang meron?
    Naagrabyado ka ba nila?

    Baka naman pwede mo rin i-consider ang posibility na aasenso din ang mga performance ng mga wlakers, please lang kasi nakakasawa na ang pagiging arogante mo.

Wag nyo na pakialaman ung mga walkers,d nman kyo ngbayad ng reg.fee nila kya wla kyong krapatan na sbihan sila ng ggawin nila..kung mkareact nman ung iba prang magpopodium..wla rin cut off..sa dami nila pg pinatabi mo yan mga yan eh d ngdikit2 na sila ngkapatiran na yan.prang d nyo nman alam kung gano krami pg RU..unawain nyo na lng PWEDE! wag ng gawing issue…diskarte na lng nxt tym..ako sa bangketa dadaan he he,lalo na dun sa seaside..so,sa june 1 uli, kitakits!   33. Kahit madaming walkers/slow runners, I was able to beat my PR. galing pa ako dulo ng 2nd wave. sa side walk ako nagoovertake. Let’s be honest, half of the fun ay galing sa pag oovertake.:D

    ok lang na may walker basta hindi sila humihelera at naka block na yung buong daan saka sana ggilid sila.

    • @running_arkitek: Meron kasi mga runners Sir na sa likod pumipwesto para ma-pace nila ang sarili nila(slow start – strong finish). Unlike kung nasa middle or front pack ka na madadala ka sa adrenaline at excitement ng ibang runners, di mo namamalayan na napabilis ang takbo mo. In the end, mauubosan ka ng lakas at mawawasak(bonked) bago mag-finish line. That could be one of the reason. (This is part of race planning and strategy)

      Another reason could be marami “early puffers”(mostly newbies and beginners) na nakapwesto sa front pack and middle pack or doon sa first wave. Upon gunstart sinasabayan ang pace ng mga malalakas. Ayun, after 3 – 5KMs nawasak at naglakad na lang. At yun ang mga naabutan ng runners metioned above.

      Again, I dont have anything against walkers, kasi dyan din ako nagsimula. Yung running etiquette lang yung point ko. I’m sorry kung I’ve pointed out walkers on my previous post. Mahirap kasi magselfie(most of the time groupie) at makipagchikahan kung tumatakbo ka.

      Mapa4hrs man o sub2 yung finish time mo, you are deserved to be called finisher. Kasi pare-pareho lang tayo dinadaanan na rota, same distance covered, unless kung nagshort cut. Pare-pareho lang din tayo ng natanggap at the finish line, unless, kung nakapodium na may extra award na natanggap. Mas bugbog pa nga at nabilad sa araw yung late natapos. Kaya saludo ako sa inyo for finishing the race.

  35. i finished strong for 21k…i beat my pr, 2hr 15mins, then i went back to join my wife w/c some of our fellow runners say as walkers..but i’m proud of her, i ran back to meet her and we walked all the way to the finish line..

  37. nagtataka lang ako sa mga nagrereklamo sa mga slow runners at walkers, kung fast runners kayo pano nangyari na nasa unahan niyo ang mga slow runners at walkers, kasi kung hindi ka naman elite at fast runner dapat ang pr mo ay nasa 1:30 to 1:50, wala kang aabutan na slow runners at walkers sa daan, let’s say na 21k ka tumakbo definitely iiwanan mo yung mga slow runners at walkers ng 21k after 1 hr ng release ng 10k dapat nasa star city ka na puntang luneta at kung abutan ka man ng 10k runners sa loop nila yung mga elite at fast runners din aabutan mo, same kung abutan mo 5k runners sa loop nila sa star city. kaya baka naman 2:30 hinahabol ni kuya na PR kung makapanlait sa slow runners at walkers eh wagas, kuya training ka pang maiigi para mag PR ka ng 1:50, walang sagabal na walkers at slow runners pag ganon ka kabilis.

  38. lol, ang haba ng usapan about sa walkers.. well, tanggapin natin na hindi na mawawala yan, though tama rin na dapat alam nila o natin kung saan sila/tayo pupwesto kung titigil o maglalakad sa daan… if were aiming for a good or new PR, train hard and prepare also for those walkers, isipin na lang na additional obstacles sila, wag sobrang seryoso, enjoy the run, and keep in mind, ma-pa walkers, joggers or runners, lahat tayo ay part ng running community, if u can’t accept that fact, well organize your own running event where you can scrutinize all the participants, lol.

    • I agree with dencio47. I’m not against those walkers. Lahat tayo dumaan dyan. We start running by merely walk and run until we have achieve our goal.

      Even I got a knee injury, dahil sa pag-iiwas sa mga walkers. Inisip ko na lang na obstacle sila at di ko sila sinisisi. Kahit masakit na, pinilit ko pa din makatapos ang kauna-unang 21K run ko.

      This is a fun run where everybody SHOULD enjoy and have fun. This is not an Olympic competition where every athlete should follow the rules and regulation.

  40. Hey kids, lets accept na may mga taong hindi talaga maka move on (e.g. The Shield) tapos magsosour graping dito sa forum dahil lang sa hindi nakakuha ng 21K slot sa Run United Leg 1.
    Masyadong makitid ang ganitong pag-iisip kung tutuusin at idadamay pa ang mga so called “walkers”. Parang bata na inagawan ng kendi tapos magngangangawa. Maski ako man hindi nakakuha for this category (21K) pero nagregs pa din ako sa 10K category.
    I set my mind na ibebeat ko na lang ang current record ko for me to prove to myself that I can excel for this category. I finished 57 minutes according to my gps watch and feel proud to myself na nagawa ko yun.
    Let’s closed this chapter and look forward for the next leg. I’m definitely eeying for the 32K distance and make sure na hindi na ako mauubusan for the slot. See you on the road!!

  41. Ako po 52 years old na walker. I run the first km walked 3km and run the last km. Sana po wala akong naabala na 10k at 21 k na elite runner kasi po aa bangketa lang ako. Pero i will train harder so I can run the full 5 km next time. Sa milo po kasi i walked 5km for 57 mins. Sa united 1 43 minutes na po. Paaensya na po kung may bumagal pr nila sa 5k dahil sa mga walkers. Pero sa bangketa lang po ako.

Late po ako sa event ng almost 15min, kaya di ko naabutan yung announcement before magstart ang 21k… I think yung host ng event dapat magbigay info sa runners kung saan dapat sila maglakad… running 101 while hindi nagstart… since late ako, ang dami ko po naabutan na walker at nahirapan ako dumaan… mind setting na lang na i should enjoy the event… :)

  44. ,,,next time dapat lagyan na ng cutoff yung 21k & up, yung time na considerable na runner talaga. 21k run is no joke, and if you really plan to join on that category, proper training should really be done prior the run. OK lang naman ang mag-walk, like 4-1 or 5-2, pero yung iba kasi, 2-5 or 3-6 na pacing, walker na talaga ang category nila. To most of the participants, let’s be honest here, ang habol lang talaga eh yung Medal at FS. Subukan kaya natin tanggalin yun pag di umabot sa cutoff, i would think kokonti ang sasali, 50% to 70% i’m sure!

  47. Hinay hinay lang kasi sa pagsasalita about “Walkers”. The race wasn’t organized for you alone. Don’t be a discouragement to newbie runners, di lalaki running community pag ganyan attitude mo. If discrimination is your forte, aside from running of course, why not try to bring a bell or kahit anong busina on your next run so that those “Walkers” as you fondly call them will know na may “Elite” runner na dadaan para gumilid sila. Sabi nga “Exceed yourself”, ang point is, nakatapos sila. Kung naglakad man sila, why not? Sila naman nag bayad eh. Mag reklamo ka kung sagot mo fees nila. Courtesy ba kamo na gumilid? Ikaw na lang kaya ang umiwas sa kanila, magaling ka naman eh. ;)

  51. I envy the podiumers…unlike the rest of us who have to wait for eons for our results, theirs are instantaneous like in Triathlon events. Come to think of it, this is just a simple point to point running event!!!!

  52. I still don’t understand bakit sa walkers napupunta ang sisi ng mga “elite runners” dyan… kung 21k walkers ang sinisisi… Bakit nakasunod ang “elite runner” sa walker? Either late sya dumating sa starting line at naghahabol sya OR sya mismo ay naglalakad din? Kung sa 10km at 5km u-turn nagkakaroon ng road jam, yung organizer ang sisihin at next time i-suggest nyo na ibang route ang mga lower category runners nang di naaabala ang mga “elite runners” ng 21km (kuno)… And sa race etiquette, we can all do so much… Asa tao yan, kahit anong reminder,pangaral, o pagsita mo… Kung di sya susunod, wala ka magagawa. respect lang din sa mga newbies and gusto maachieve ang narating ng mga “elite runners” dyan… Just my two cents about this topic.

  53. I just wanted to ask, Coach Rio DOES NOT post pics of the runners anymore? Before, he used to have this site wherein you type in your bib number and photos of the runner will come out. Now, you have to browse through so many pics and you are not even sure if your picture was taken. Are runs like this now?

    • I asked the same question not only to RunRio, but to some of the event photographers. The technology is there already so why just do mass upload of thousands of pictures and not have a facility for search by “bib”? Imagine going through each and every album of each and every event photographer to get say 4-5 pictures of you!!! Argh!!! One replied to me that they were too poor to do that! Then could they not try to commercialize it aka “Candy Crush” where you pay by your cell phone number say 20 peso and application searches for your pictures or something like that!!! If say 3000 of the 12000 use it you have a cool 60K which can cover your “meals”!

    • Wag naman agad mag accuse na nandaya ang may blank na time. I ran 21k with a buddy. Complete chip times nya, sa akin may bungi kahit di ako nag short cut. It already happened to me before sa runrio event din, kaya I always make sure inaapakan ko talaga yan chip reader (or whatever it is called).

  55. haha basta ako ok lang sakin yung mga nag walk/run or totally walker, nilagpasan ko sila at na beat ko yung PR ko ng 1hr. i am not elite runner but nag practice ako and na achieve ko tapusin 21k nang d nag lalakad, except syempre pag mag kukuha ka ng hydration, PR ko sa sante barley is 21k – 3:49 run walk yun and almost walk lahat pabalik after ng 15k first time kong sumali nun sa mga event tulad nito, and na challenge ako kaya sumali ako sa RU1 and ngayon and PR ko is 21k – 3:48, sa RU2 ibebeat ko ulit PR ko sana matapos ko 21k ng 2hours :D

  56. Oh, and another thing. Have you heard about RESPECTING THE DISTANCE? Because I do. Kaya nga matagal na preparation ang ginagawa para makatakbo ng 21k. Kasi kung idadaan nyo lang sa pera at medalya ang pagtakbo nyo, aba ingat ingat din pag may time. Baka madale kayo ng heart attack. Magiging problema pa kayo ng Race Organizers.

  57. sa 21 km runners malamang bungi ang results niyo kung bandang kanan kayo dumaan sa may tapat ng 10km.u-turn. kalahati lang kasi ng daan ang may sensor. sinwerte lang ako.na nasa kaliwa ako banda. halos sa dulo.na ako ng sensor nakaapak.

    wala naman akong naging problema sa walkers. sa likod ako ng wave 2 nagsimula. slow start dahil masikip. nakatulong ito dahil naka-strong finish ako. madalas kasi pag mabilis simula ko ay napapagod kaagad ako.

    This running event is should be fun for all walks of life and we shld. All enjoy it so we could achieve better and healthy life style…

    This is the solution for 21k runners and 32k runners in the future…
    5k & 10k runners should have their own Routes like what Standard Chartered Marathon did here in Hong Kong and in 10k event there are 7 runs meaning
    10k Challenge 1 hr. Below time record then Run 1, 2…6 Etc. defending what time you registered each run has 30 mins gap meaning Hindi magkakaroon Ng congestion in one point like what happened here.
    5 & 10k have different route Kasi ang dami na Ng mga runners in this way yung runners will be well distributed sa 10k roads…
    Now for 21k and 42k dapat iba rin ang route Nila para Hindi sila mag mix sa 5k or 10k Kasi ang problema maraming runners.

    In HK SC had 75,000 registered runners but only 66,000 ran but the flow of the runners running was smoothed due to flow of traffic among the runners are well distributed by doing 30 mins. gun start defending your time registered in all the events.

    Even 42k & 21k they have Challenge Run, 21k Run 1 and 21k Run 2. Ex. 21k Challenge start at 8 am ang start dito Kasi malamig dito last Feb. 16 weather was 12 degrees and it’s cloudy Praise the LORD no sun, then 21k Run 1 starts 8:30 am this is my run then the 21k Run 2 starts at 9 am….in this way you run better coz most of you are in the same category of time PR.

    I hope we can do these in our future United Runs and whoever in the planning let me know I got the Standard Chartered brochure and we can follow and copy it…
    Even in prizes SC gave incentive if you finished your PR registered category…
