It’s a common notion that when you hear the brand skechers you immediately picture hip-hop, dance, casual athletics… but not immediately running, but did you know that there’s actually an entire performance line from skechers that’s designed for us runners? It’s the skechers GORun 2.

skechers GOrun is featuring their M-Strike™ technology that fosters a mid-foot strike specially designed for heel strikers, runners who are transitioning from heel to forefoot strike or runners who have the tendency to heel strike like me when I get a bit tired.

Right after wearing the GOrun 2, I can immediately notice its difference from other shoes… I can’t feel my heels on the ground while standing, the heel part of the skechers GOrun 2 is slightly curved positioning the body for an efficient mid-foot strike in order to run faster, stronger, and longer.

It’s also very light at only 6.6oz, allowing the wearer to run faster and more efficiently.

After my first trial run, you’ll immediately notice that the concentration of my running strike is at the forefoot and mid-foot area, the heel area was still clean. So, hey! it works!

Did a quick 10KM and a few sprints with the GORun 2 Nite Owl, great cushioning, no blisters and very comfortable, I was a bit skeptical at first, but after a few more rounds, I’m convinced that the skechers performance line is really well designed for running.

But what’s so special about the Nite Owl?… It GLOWS! :)

Just simply charge it up for a while under any light source and see it GLOW when you run at night. A great way to grab some attention… from passing vehicles, and for safety ofcourse :)

I’ve always been a forefoot/midfoot runner, but I also heel strike specially when the distance i’m covering is much more than what I have trained for, I can imagine how the skechers GOrun 2 can help me when I’m at that state.

However, I would love to hear from heel strikers who are actually using the skechers GOrun 2. How is this pair working for you?

  1. Can you wash it with soap and water? I was supposed to buy another GORUN series but the salesclerk told me that it should not only be wiped when cleaning…. a bit of a turn off for a running shoe…

  2. Really? Haven’t tried cleaning it yet. Will do some reading about it. Generally I think it should be ok, the mesh fabric i think is washable, not sure how it’s gonna affect the glow in the dark material.

  3. Been using the Skechers Go Run 2 for the past half year. Similar to the author, I was skeptical with the Skechers running line at first. But now, all my other running shoes are stuck in my shoe cabinet. And the Go Run 2 has been my constant companion in all my runs.

It is very flexible, true to size and has just the right amount of cushioning without sacrificing road feel. I dare say that It is one of the best shoes for mid-forefoot strikers. One advice – ditch the removable insole as it has a tendency to move around and ride up the back. It is designed to be used without the thin insole anyway.

    • I solved the in-sole problem by having it permanently glued to the shoe. Now I have no issue with it moving around and riding to the back!
