  1. SA DINAMI DAMI NG EVENT NA PAGREREKLAMUHAN NG ACCURACY NG DISTANCE. ETO PANG MILO?! WTH!? SERIOUSLY? MALAMANG FIRST TIME SUMALI NG MILO MARATHON NETONG MGA TO NA NAGREREKLAMO.

SIGE IPAGLABAN MO YANG SINASABI NG GPS WATCH MO. SIGE PUSH MO YAN

    • Exactly my point! Heheh I ran 42k, did not break my PR and felt that the last 5km were longer. But when I saw in the finisher shirt that its course is IAAF/AIMS certified, naisip ko un ang saktong 42.195km at ung feeling and GPS ko ang mali. Heheh happy running! ;)

  2. First time to run 21K tapos sa MILO pa…Im very happy with my performance..1st time to have a medal, nagpapasalamat ako sa Milo dahil ang nilagay nila sa likod ng Singlet ay “KAYA MO YAN”, everytime na tumitingin ako sa mga co-runner ko yun ang binabasa ko..kaya ayun na inspire ako i beat the cut off 2:23….Thanks talaga sa MILO………..

  3. Huli kayo mga balbon… Hehehe… Galing nyo talaga dayain sarili nyo… Hehehe…

  4. mabait ngayon ah… merong results yung lagpas cutoff. Marami kasi nalungkot last year dahil yung lagpas cutoff wala sa results.

    42k statistics

    2013
    2268 runners
2079 finishers pasok sa 6:00 na cutoff
    156 qualifiers (7.5% sa finishers)

    2012
    1619 finishers
    127 qualifiers (7.84%)

nice to know ang dami na ring nag 42 k this year. mas maraming nagtratrain at lumalakas. hehe

  5. bakit ang daming “NAME FOR VERIFICATION”? isa na ako doon. Nag fill-up naman ako ng registration form.
    Papa ano maaayos ito?

  6. It was my fourth 42K. Everything was great. I salute MILO and the organizers who ensured that all runners will have a safe and enjoyable run. Great work guys!

    • ows ?

  7. Sadly, I didn’t get a medal for my first 21k which i finished around 2:51H, but that will never gonna discourage me for running another half this October. Running without sleep, lunch, very little dinner not even a sip of coffee for a jump start, and just got out of 12 hours duty = physical strain to maximum level not to mention mentally…

    how’d i got the go…

“I WILL NEVER GONNA QUIT THIS GOOD RACE”

    Thank You MILO!

and to the good friend who beat me in this race we will meet again in october!

  8. For everyone’s motivation: ‘Super Human’ Mr. Orlando Payumo, Gun time = 04:13:27, Chip time = 04:13:24, Age Group = 65-69, Qualified for the December Finals = Yes na Yes na Yes!!! Kayo na po Itay! :)

  9. Hi everyone..ask ko lang base on ur experience, possible bang magkaroon ng machine error ang MILO chip reader kasi may kakilala ako na suspicious talaga nakakuha siya ng medal at na beat niya yung cutoff time tapos nagyayabang pa eh nung nakita naman yung result may bungi yung record niya..hahaha…defensive pa masyado…ang malupit nun wala siyang practice then 1st time to run 21K pa.

  10. Probably a cheater. Let him brag. Nasesense ko na that someone is an under achiever kaya pati yun gustong ipagmayabang.

  11. @Mark – RunnerPh
yes bro 2,530 as mention bago mag start yung race… tama ka minimal lang yung hindi nagamit yung bib, yung iba nga pinapatakbo pa sa iba or binebenta pag hindi sila makakatakbo kaya malamang eh almost 100% yung nagamit…

oo nga generous na ang milo for 6hrs cutoff :-)

  12. Hindi talaga ganun kadali ang maqualify sa milo marathon, kung makasma ka man duon na pinaghirapan mo talaga ay isang napakalaking achievement na yun, marami rin kasi na tumatakbo sa finals eh talagang hindi karapat-dapat na nanduon one reason is hindi sila ang tumakbo para ma qualify nagreregister ng name nila tapos pinapatakbo sa malalakas na kayang iqualify yung age category nila most of them sa provincial pero ngayon since meron na rin sa metro qualifying for 21k eh duon pwede rin…well nasa kanila pa rin yun… 
sa mga gusting mag qualify give your time atleast a year maybe 1,2,3,4 or 5 with continuous regular running 1-3yrs is a good base foundation in general na hindi naman pinanganak na talagang stronger individual (isa na ako duon) meron kasi iba na unang takbo pa lang e qualified na agad kahit hindi gaano tumatakbo…malalakas talga ang katawan…pero bihira lang po yun…
ako naman in 3yrs of running 3times na rin sumusubok sa milo to qualify eh hindi pa rin makapasok pero ayos lang no excuses just enjoy the run pag hindi talaga kaya mkapasok… 2011 4:14 2012 4:24 2013 4:17 at ang target time ko is 3:50 at my age 37… pero sa tingin ko at pakiramdam ko eh nag-uumpisa pa lang ako sa sports na ito at nagbubuild pa lang ng foundation… basically I have 2times running a week minsan nakaka tatlo…mostly after my graveyard shift… but this time maybe it’s about time to make some twist at tapos na yata ang experimenting ko about kung ano ang bagay na training na kaya… and hopefully the good one comes…
thanks and kita-kit’s ulit next year sa event na ito…

gandang article nga pala about building running foundation by Arthur Lydiard… 

  15. My colleague, a cpa-lawyer, 41 years old, has two houses, 3 cars, a super-beautiful big bike, good-looking, hits the gym everyday, and lives with a really pretty partner, isnt a fast runner. His PR for 10K is 1 hour and 4 mins, while in the 21k, 2 hours and 22 mins. He has been running for 4 yrs now, not once that he excelled, oftentimes he really has a bad finish time. But he keeps running because of the need for cardio-workout. Yet, he even runs in provincial runs and marathons abroad.

Buti na lang he has little time to devote in reading these discussions, kasi busy nga sya, otherwise, baka isipin niya under achiever sya, as others put it. Kasi bakit ba parang sa iba running fast makes one a better person than another. Bakit nga ba ganun? Dont these people realize that we all run for different reasons? Some people devote so much time in running and in following discussions like these, yet they seem not to realize that maybe other runners like them are just too embroiled in their high-paying jobs, na after they run in the weekend, they do not bother to line up and get the loot bags and medals anymore, and certainly not the time to make “babad” sa internet and follow these discussions. Kaya naman ako na mayroong time, would be the one to visit the discussions to check on our (gun/chip) times, and pictures, then simply inform him about it.

Natatawa ako, After every run, this friend of mine, and his girl would go to the carpark to get their really nice car to proceed to the nearby hotel to have breakfast. Meanwhile, they would pass by the hordes of runners who proudly display their medals while awaiting for public transport. Now tell me, do these medals make them better persons than my friend?

What is my point? We run the 21k last Sunday, all four of us friends. We all finished within regulation time, did the U-turn and consequently had to be awarded for finishing. Uuulitin ko, sabay-sabay kami. But when I checked our times, my friend’s name did not appear. Isa sya siguro dun sa Name for Verification. But if we are to follow someone else’s contention, ito daw yung mga madadaya, mga under achievers. To cheat in order to get a medal isnt his style.

Running is something, but it is not everything. You may find your worth in running but that doesnt make you a better person in totality with someone else. At the end of the day, you cannot sell your medals, the prints on your shirts would fade but someone who is an overachiever, in some other aspects of life would have a better life or is living a better life than someone who runs faster than him. Wag sanang OA yung iba. Peace!!

    • The only person overreacting here is you. Never have I seen someone who claims to be confident in who he is devote such a lengthy post to stroke their e-penis.
You are participating in the “Milo Marathon (Manila) 2013 RESULTS DISCUSSION”, therefore be freaking prepared to talk about the results, the event, the race. Not post some non-related tidbit about yourselves that only serves to stroke your online manhood.

Be prepared to read people bitch about their “Soleus watches” recording an incorrect distance, people saddened that they didn’t make the cutoff, people saying hydration wasn’t enough or even people parading their banner and mock those who didn’t finish or those whom they finished faster against. Yes there will be people who will cry “cheating” of all sorts too.

THAT’S OK. THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT THE MILO MARATHON.

Now if you want to discuss something else, create a thread entitled “Affluence, good looks and my monthly payroll and why it’s better to be a mediocre runner”. Then add a subtitle that says “No mocking of my PR’s please or I will put up a 10-pager discussing why I am a better person than you internet warriors”.

      Sheesh.

Some people paid dividends of blood, sweat and tears just to wear those medals proudly. Something tells me you do not understand the heart of an athlete at all. And until you do, you will never understand why those people wore their medals proudly on that day but wasn’t bothered one tiny bit that they were riding a jeepney on their way home.

FYI I sub-2hr’d this race, I’m on the upper 5% of the finishers too and no, I didn’t wear my medal as proudly — it went straight to my loot bag then on the trunk of my car after the photo-ops. It’s perfectly OK to see those people who worked hard for this to parade their achievement. A little trashtalking won’t hurt too. They deserved it. In the same way that you and your friend deserve accolades for your affluence and good life — but not here, not now.
The only thing that matters in this thread is the Milo Marathon.

“If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

      • Mr. Joel,

We practice almost daily for several months for this event to meet the cut-off time for 42k or 21k. (we deserve to be proud that we made it and wore the medal). Do you think it’s fair that some runner/s got their medal by means of cheating? While other trained hard but failed because of injury/cramps and other unfortunate circumstances?

This MILO Marathon is the prestigious event run here in the Philippines. All finishers should be proud that atleast once in their lifetime they get this medal.

Cheaters not only disrespect themselves but the entire running community. Other People may think that that Milo medals is no different with other running medals since everyone can get it even without or totally no training by means of cheating.
I hope that the organizer of Milo should take action with this.

Below Names with Bib number are with QUESTIONABLE Chip-time Record. While others are totally not event step in the starting line and join the race later on near the finish line. You can only find their pictures almost at less than 3km near the FL not even tired while their photo’s had been taken together with the elite runners. That too obvious!!!

Hoping that Milo organizer BAN them (atleast several years) if proven guilty without reasonable doubt.

      • i think it’s okay to wear the medal after you finish the race since that’s the only time you can wear them and not look weird.

      • To Joel,

        From my point of view.

The main course of your comment is that your colleague, cpa-lawyer, 41 years old, with two houses, 3 cars, a super-beautiful big bike, good-looking, hits the gym everyday, and lives with a really pretty partner didn’t even take you to ride with his nice car and share their breakfast in the hotel while you run with them. After the race, you see yourself alone walking home not even able to eat at Mcdo or jolibee and with no change to take a ride.

I have been an avid 10k runner. I envy those who can run more because i never envisioned myself duplicating their feat. My husband is one of those addicts, as i fondly call them. But when he was sidelined with a hip injury last year, his return to running was limited to the 3k for 6 months. Each time i waited for him at the finish line, i frown at the sight of “some” runners who mock at those running the lower categories. I overheard one even say “joke lang daw ang 3k”. Im sure the sentiments above were directed towards these kinds of people. And let us face it, because of our humanity, we cant help but defend those who we care about.

    • I understand that. And dare I say that I am confident that you will make it in the 21K, and maybe, just maybe, should your hubby heal quickly, you will be joining hands when you cross that finish line. :) (Seen couples do this, it was such a heartwarming sight to behold)

No harm in trying to defend those people. I will personally do. Well, I am doing it actually. No such thing as “joke distance” when the person participating poured out his heart onto it. People run for different reasons — maybe battling a serious disease, running for a loved one, running for redemption, etc.
These are all admirable, if not noteworthy at the least.
But I won’t attack their lack of money to bring cars nor try to put myself up on a pedestal by citing non-related info about the marathon.
      But hey that’s just me.
There are rude people out there, sure that’s true.
But they can’t take away that fulfillment that you and your hubby feels whenever you cross that finish line.
      Nobody can.

May I suggest trying for the RUPM 21K event by the way. It’s still a good 3 months away, being a mere-7Ker myself (you were running longer distances actually) and having done 21K in a pretty good time, I have reasons to believe that you will best me. :)

See you at the finish line!

    • those who mock lower distance runners do not have the athlete’s heart. Ask them to do a sub 9 minute 3k. a sub 20 minute 5k and a sub 30 min 10k.

      • Can’t agree more sir!

It’s not always about the distance. Being able to do an ultramarathon doesn’t guarantee a podium finish in a 5K event.

  17. MAY MALI PO SA RACE RESULT KO :( 49MINS LATE YUNG NASA RESULT :( MALI PA SPELLING NG PANGALAN KO :( SAN PO KAYA PWEDENG MAG INQUIRE?

Sablay naman performancesa work.
As usual namimintas. kahit work hours babad sya dito.

Maraming di qualify although mas mabilis sila dun sa ibang qualified at the same age bracket????

    • Chimicon,

As i understand it. Time/Age/Gender are the factors. 3 top Male and 3 Top Female with “yes*” mark. I dont know exactly the specific time for each of qualification.
      Hope it helps :)

    • There are events who ban this type of behavior actually.
Sa multi-sport events for instance, there’s an unwritten rule against this.
Yung iba kasi wala pang 3KM ino the race at napakadilim pa feeling Adonis na kaagad e. HAHAHA!

  20. there are a lot of runners who are not wearing Milo singlet.. It clearly states in the rules and regulations that runners who are not wearing the Milo singlet will not be allowed to run..

      • Mr. Backslash,

Yes, i agree with you. Anyway some runners use their sponsor uniform but i think it should be first approved by the organizing team. Runners with no singlet at all should be definitely remove from the race as this is “clearly” violate the rules and regulations that runners who are not wearing the Milo singlet will not be allowed to run.

  21. bakit ganun hindi ako nka pasok for the finals….ano ba pinagkukunan nila ng basi……sa man tlang 1:40 min ang tym ko…anu ba yan

    • @mj… time and age bracket sa 42k category ang basehan… sa 42k category lang pwede mag qualify sa finals and by invitation only… sigurado ako hindi 42k tinakbo mo kasi 1:40 time mo, ikaw na dapat ang champion kung nag 42k ikaw and 1h40m time mo hehehe..
