What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?

Do not block runners coming up behind you by swerving needlessly back and forth across the course. ( saw this a lot, swerving from side to side without thinking the safety of others)

Move to the side if someone behind you says “excuse me” or “on you’re your right/left”. The person behind you is giving you a heads up before passing. It’s proper race etiquette to let that person pass you without blocking their effort.

Most important of all Don’t cheat! Don’t cut the course or run with someone else’s number

    My etiquette as a runner:

    - When passing a runner, Say “Excuse me po (Polite mode lang)” to not startle that person/s and avoid not to cut in front of them and slow down passing;
    - I thank pedestrians who move out of the way for me so I can run by;
    - Avoid running in the middle of the road unless SIGA ka talaga and always run facing traffic on the side of the road;
    - Base on my experience lang, if you need to spit, make sure no one is in the line of fire;
    - And lastly, always smile, wave or nod to other runners para everybody HAPPY!!!

    9.)smile.

What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?
Answer: 1st - I think the proper etiquette for runners is being a friendly person by giving a couteous wave, smile and a courteous greeting to other runners as you either pass them or each other. 2nd - Follow the rules and regulation of the Fun run or contest. Don't cheat because you cheat yourself not the contest. 3rd - Joining in a Running contest you need to have determination and believing yourself.

Know your place in the starting line. Fastest runners in front, slower runners at the rear. Always.

    * Line up according to the pace you plan to run. If you are a slower runner, that's ok, just don’t stand right in the front of the pack. Use common sense about where to stand. Don't toe the front line if you can't run the fastest time.

    * If you need to spit, look around before you spit. Nobody wants to be hit by your saliva.

    * If you need to throw plastic cup/banana peel/energy gel wrapper, throw it to the side of the road.

    * Don't cut the course, stay within the cones and designated lanes. Corners are for going around. Lanes are for staying in. Cones are for running between. Cheating is an act of desperation. Trust your training. If you didn't train, don't fake your race time by cutting off yards instead of seconds.

    * Don't Be a Glutton with giveaways. It's not an all-you-can-get event. Don't take more than your fair share of food and drinks at the finish line. The back of the pack runners will appreciate it when there are still enough goodies for them at the end.

Answer: Never bandit in a race. It is not fair for the participants who pay for their spot. Also, it is not safe for the organizers since they plan the race based on the number of registered participants.

Do not stop running at the finish line, there might be runners coming right behind you.

Answer: Show repect to other runners by respecting them like a friend not a competitor, do not spit on the road (if you want to at the gutter), know the rules and regulation of the organizer, when changing lane show some hand siganal so the runners behind you know that you are going in that direction and will slow their pace, do not throw banana peel, cups, gel sachet on the road there are a proper disposal for that, when someone is exhausted you can tell the runners by boosting their moral "YOU CAN DO IT". Help others in need nevermind the PR, Never ever cheat you are just fooling first your self and your entire self...

What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?

"PAY YOUR SPOT" - Running in a race you haven't entered, also called "banditing", is not fair to race organizers, volunteers, and especially the people who have paid to participate. It's also unsafe, since race organizers plan their course amenities, such as water and sports drinks, and medical assistance based on the number of people who have signed up for the race. And overcrowded race conditions can lead to falls and other problems.

GOD BLESS & Good luck to us all! CHEERS... :-)

What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?

Etiquette in running races is essential for everyone competing from the elite runners to those running just for enjoyment. If a runner chooses not to respect other runners this is disappointing and often leads to other runners being distracted from their goal in the race. Not observing running race etiquette can also lead to other runners not having an enjoyable run. That is why all runners need to pay careful attention to running race etiquette. For me here are some proper race etiquette that must be observe.

    - This is i guess the best way, you have to RESPECT your fellow runners and the sport of running. If you do this, running races should be enjoyable for everyone.
    - Don't take shortcuts on the course
    - Follow the rules for your event
    - If you need to stop or stretch move off the course
    - If someone is injured, check to see if they are ok and do anything you can to help them out
    - Most of all, have fun and make sure others have fun too.

What are the proper etiquette for runner?
    - Never run more than two abreast if you are running in a group. Don’t be a road or trail hog.
    - Alert pedestrians when you are passing them – don’t assume they are aware of their surroundings. A simple “on your left” warning will suffice.
    - Be alert on blind curves.
    - Stop at stop signs and ensure oncoming traffic yields to you before proceeding across a road. Don’t assume cars will stop if you are entering a cross walk.
    - Don’t litter. If you can’t find a trash can, carry your trash home.
    - If you drop something as the race starts, don’t stop and pick it up! Wait until almost everyone has crossed the starting line; then retrieve it
    - Do not block runners coming up behind you by swerving needlessly back and forth across the course.
    - If someone in front of you is wearing headphones, and they are blocking, gently touch their elbow or shoulder as you pass to alert them to your presence.
    - Don’t cheat! Don’t cut the course or run with someone else’s number.

Hope its help! GOODLUCK RUNNERS!!! =) KUDOS PF!

What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?
--Proper etiquette for Runners is like following GOD. Doing only Righteous and legal acts not just on Runway but even on the Start and after the Events. Like for instance, Pin your race number on the front of your shirt where it is most visible for photographers and race officials. By this simple manners, you can contribute a Happy and Safer Run for yourself and huge help for Organizer in terms of Safety matter

What do you think is the proper etiquette for runners?

    - Should not lining up at the front of the race and then running slower than a baby can crawl
    - Do not abruptly stop during a race, proper way is to move to the side first.
    - Return greetings or simple nods when passing another runner.
    - If you must spit or blow your nose, do so at the back of the pack.
    - Be humble, don't brag about your pace, you don't know who you might me talking to, elite runners are always the silent type.
    - Should not cutting other runners off & then slowing down
    - Should not throw drinks at the feet of the runners behind you. Act like a grown-up and throw it in the bin a few paces down the road or on the side not at your back.
    - If you use someone’s mp3-player / gps-tracker, recharge the batteries!
    - Don’t group-hog the entire width of the road/trail! Let others pass.
    - When crossing the finish line do not stop immediately, keep going a few meters to get out of the way, there are still other incoming runners
    - Don’t give advice without being asked.
    - Smile, thank and greet the volunteers.
    - If you must, then at least look before you spit.
    - If you have a case of the bad stomach, it’s nice to move to the back of the line as to not poison the rest of the group behind you.
    - Play nice. Follow the track rules, and don’t be arrogant when someone points out those rules.
    - Don’t cheat races. Play fair
    - Inside lanes on tracks are for fast runners.
    - Don’t literally push people forward when the starting gun has fired.
    - If running with someone slower, don’t pressure them to speed up.
    - When you’re running with your dog, clean up its mess.

As with car drivers' road courtesy, runners should also practice race courtesy.
***Runners should literally know their PLACE at the starting line. Do not start at the front just so to have your pictures taken, and could brag about them on your social networks.
***Stay on your side of the road. Slow runners should stay at the outside lane to give the fast ones clear way to run.
***Avoid swerving in front of someone. Make sure you are a couple of meters ahead of someone before doing so.
***Do not block the pathway. If you're going to stop or walk, make sure to go to the outermost lane, so that you will not impede someone's running. Same thing goes to groups. Remember: Race path are not parks to have leisurely walks.
***Avoid being the cause of serious injury of others by not throwing your water cups and banana peels on the race path, look for waste bags, or at least throw them farthest to path.
***Smile at and encourage fellow runners who you are passing. Running races is not always about competition.
***Try to befriend fellow runners at post-race activities. Spread fellowship and camaraderie within the community that's getting bigger and better by the second.

    BOW!

See you all in races, guys! Happy and safe running!
