    • Ok ung idea/concept kasi may challenge. Great idea!

    • That was a good point raised by adrian. How do you check if a runner did sub 1 upon reaching the finish line? Logically it should be on chip time but that becomes available only after reviewing the results? But since medals would be distributed after the race, it seems you might base it on gun time. Unless you would distribute prizes after reviewing chip time.

      • That’s a very good point you raised. Di ko naisip un ah. Oo nga no. Like you said chip time talaga dapat. One solution is to do it in waves like Condura does para di masyado congested at the start. We still don’t know the mechanism of the race and kung ano ang incentives sa mga makaka-sub1.

I’m not familiar with the system pero how fast can the chip time results come out? Siguro for the top 3 or for the elites gun time sila and awarding can be given after the race. Kung mabilis ma-out ang chip time bka pwedeng hintayin na lang. Kung hindi, come back for a separate claiming which is a hassle.

Or find a place where you can have a wider starting line para di masyado siksikan tapos labo-labo na, matira matibay, first to make it in front. At least pwede base sa gun time.

    • @Hot Siopay – pag sub-1hr e possible pa… pero pag sub 1:20mins in 21k eh suntok sa buwan sa katulad natin… ewan ko lang po ikaw… kasi yung nanalo last sunday sa milo batangas for 21k is 1:21 eh pano kaya tayo dito sa forum na panay kayabangan lang yung iba :-)

      • @edward_1975 i believe he meant 120 minutes not 1:20 minutes… equivalent to 2 hours…

although still… for me… 2 hours for 21k is still very difficult to achieve… unless kasing bilis mo si Mary Grace delos Santos (ba yun??) o kaya yung mga taga Kenya na tumatakbo dito… :)

I’m so excited for this event!

  2. Ayos to.. Sa tulad kong 1 year nang tumatakbo at twice a week lang magtraining dahil sa busy na sched baka mabreak ko to. Last record ko ng 10Km is 1:04. Sana bagong PR to..

  3. This would be great for this challenge! di biro ang sub-1 10k. If may Medal and FS to, worth the challenge talaga hehe :)

  4. with at least 9 weeks to go before race day, it is achievable to break 1hour over 10kms for those whose pr for the same distance is in the vicinity of over an hour to 1:20. The key is correct practice, enough rest in between and sensible diet.

i suggest 3 key workouts/week, say, for example, tuesday for speedwork, thursday for tempo, and sat or sun for long run. Examples of speedwork are hills repeat(sprint uphill 50-100 m, walk downhill, 6x), fartlek(sprint different distances while doing your regular run), 8x200m at a track oval, 200m jog in between, etc.

tempo run is running at your targetted race pace, in this case, at least 6mins/km. Start at 4-5 kms and progressively increase this weekly over 7 weeks until you reach 10 kms.

long run would be at least 15km at a comfortable pace, once a week. Easy runs of 5-10kms or rest can be done between the 3 key workouts. The race week would be all easy runs and lots of rest.

good luck to all and happy running!

    • good pm, thanks for your tips, it helps a lot, hope to apply it on during practice, but it seems hard pag binasa mo lang at walang mag guide on what to do and how to do it………sir, are you within Makati area? baka naman pwede pa train kami sa may Ayala triangle – dyan po kami nag pa practice for marathon after office hour, we also join last Sunday Run fest, pwede po ba sir pa train kami para maka join kami sa SUB-1 and that we can assure to ourselves na kaya namin ang 1hour for 10K?….looking forward for your positive response…… syempre we are open for possible TF po, thanks! :-)

      • attend kayo ng tuesday 7 pm sa ayala triangle. the group name is AYALA TRIAD they are all very friendly and some of them can guide you and give you proper training. most of them are ultra runners and podium finishers.

    • @turtlepace, nice tips…
yes, thrice a week will take you to your target to achieve a sub1 for 10K.

built your own pace and maintain it and gradually increase your distance. on weekends make a point to have atleast a 10~12K distance run continuously no stopping (even a slow-paced) just to cover the whole distance.

additional tip: hydrate a day before you run and the day before you run, lots of liquid (even beer but not drunk….hehehe), no diet but not over-eat. take a 15min to review run-plan, map your route.

      happy running….

  6. Thanks for the tip sir. It’s really important to mix up your training if you really want to improve on your PR. Reading the word ‘fartlek’ brings a smile to my face.

  7. Go ako dito.
