  1. i like the event set-up. ganda kung paano nila na-transform yung qc hall into a great marathon event venue. keep it up organizers! galing! the best set-up so far ng qcim! :-)

  2. had a good run on this one, its my 2nd time joining fun run and ranked 227 on 21k category.. Route was really nice, gusto ko ung pataas and pababa na daan. The best rin ung weather. pero nakakadismaya ung giveaways, halos walang laman. Poor hydration, Few portalets..

will think twice joining this race again in the future!!

  3. congrats to all of us finishers in this latest intl marathon! my first time to run for QCIM and i felt proud kc im a QC resident myself and sa wakas, nkatakbo sa event in my own neighborhood. yehey! thank u Lord.

very happy to see all of our PF friends and supporters. glad to have shared Commnwealth Ave with all our friends from the diff running teams and even individual associates. ganda ng medals natin db?

ang ganda ng mga pics! maraming salamat sa mga friends with cameras. i enjoyed the tags.

congrats Runnex/QCAdmin/SMDC and rest of organizers and other sponsors. next year po ulit!

Mr JazzRunner – thank u for ur kindness.

gud thing may booth ang TPWS @Mr PF

  4. Check this out prior to race….”Organized by the Quezon City local government, the QCIM is managed by the Executive Runners of the Philippines (Runnex), one of the country’s oldest and most organized running clubs.
“We are elated with the sustained confidence of the QC government in our capability to manage this race,” lawyer Rodolfo Fernandez, Runnex chair, said. “We are confident we can increase yearly the number of participants and improve our level of performance.”

  6. twas my some sort of dream to run at commonwealth the run was just fine i passed by at this place where i lived balak ko sana umidlip muna tapos takbo nalang ulit haha.. congrats to all runners :)

  8. My first 42K run International pa ha!!!
Tsk! tsk! No offense pero totoo, Malulugi ba kyo kung lagyan man lang nyo ng ICE yung 2big? sna yung ibinigay nyo kape nalang. Yung race marshall nman sa 35K mark, sitting pretty pa, kung hindi pla ako ngtanong kung diretso or turn right. maliligaw na ako. tsk! tsk! ulit.. I will never-EVER!!! join this event again!!!! masisira ang kidney’s ng mga runners sainyo.

  9. First time to run in Commonwealth and my first 42k full marathon :) Isa ako sa mga last nag start, sumabay na lang ako sa mga 21k nag start. But im happy, coz i finished it without any injury or accident @ 6hrs & 7mins

  10. @khalbz,i agree w/u.race route lang ang maganda nothing else.di na rin namin tatakbuhan ulit to.tama camsur na lang tayo mag-full marathon.

  11. I cannot blame the people who complains about the freebies kasi QCIM posted sa wall nila this:

“Claim your SMDC bags at the redemption booths and fill them up with free goodies from SMDC’s 8 booths…Join the fun games and trivia and ‘katuwaan’ singing contests before the main raffle drawe of an SMDC condo unit at 1130am..”

And you cannot blame the people who are complaining, at least those who has valid ones, kasi they paid for this event with their hard earned money, they expect to get their moneys worth. Di biro ang 700 plus nowadays. And like any other events before na pumalpak, I believe complaints / constructive criticisms is needed to improve the event say yun KOTR or yun mga past Run Rio events.

But as the more experienced runners are saying, QCIM stayed the same like the other versions.

Tska masama na mag asam ng more sports drink and colder water? Masama ba na mag asam ng more organized marshalls on your way back to the finish line? I was one of the runners who was almost ran over by an SUV and muntik na maligaw dahil halos wala na marshalls sa end.

  13. i would like to give my two-cents-worth of comment about hydration during QCIM3. although i myself was not satisfied with the handling of the race itself, i must say that hydration was satisfactory. i ran 42K & there were still water at every hydration station on my way back. one thing i observed was that hydration stations were placed at around every 2.5K. i think this is the norm of international marathon races. most runners ,myself included, just got used to having hydration stations every 1.5K. this is the reason why race fees have gone up nowadays but that’s another topic. i do empathize though with the runners of 5K & 10K for not having any sports drink.

Na sna maganda ang hydration, sport drinks, energy gels for 21k and 42K runners. Kasi they are expecting it nga nman. Tsaka HELLO!!!
Executive Runners of the Philippines (Runnex), one of the country’s oldest and most organized running clubs.
D2 lang ako UMIHI ng TEA COLORED urine, It was horrifying really!!!
    why??
    Walang matinong hydration eh…
well tnx for the HORRifying experience though..

  15. @khalbz friendly advise lang as fellow runner to a fellow runner yung mga power gel na hinahanap mo sagot mo na dapat yun, yung sports drink additional na lang yun, sponsor ang nag pro-provide nyan not the organizer so wag kang mag expect na lahat mabibigyan depende sa supply, tap water or mineral, or whatever portable water lang ang required ibigay ng mga organizer for runners, which for me is okay, just so you know I run 42 so I know that there are still protable water even at 7hrs period hindi nga lang sosyal tulad ng mineral. so if I were you do not expect too much para di ka ma-dissapoint and always be prepared for anykind of situations.

I guess that is not much to ask for. Tska kaya din siguro nag eexpect ang mga tao dahil this event was marketed as an INTERNATIONAL event. :D Meaning international standards. I was googling international marathon events and sad to say malayo pa tong QCIM natin sa mga ibang marathons.

It’s not as bad as others are saying pero it needs some improvements.

  17. For me ok ung race. Well dahil kaya free lang ung race kit ko kaya ganun? and baka dahil I set my expectation very low kaya in the end parang ok siya para sakin…

  19. for me as one of the foreign runners, i think the qcim3 went pretty well. here in the U.S., when we run marathons, we pay our reg fee, pick up our race bib at the expo and and put on the worst shirt we have in the closet, then show up for our event and run like hell and then go home. we don’t really care much about photo ops and all the socializing to go with it. i was disappointed with my time, i was hoping to do 2:10 on the 21K but ended with 2:36:05 instead. i was thinking afterwards maybe because of jet lag, not enough hydration before the run, and maybe stop carrying a 3′ x 5′ flag (RP this time) that gets heavier as the miles pile on. to all the runners that i have run into along the way, even though, i was not able to talk to you personally, thanks for the experience, this is my first in the Phils and i will come back to run again sometime if work and family commitment permits. happy holidays to everyone.

  20. @ francis chua, I ran 42K.
@ dencanlas, yes I did bring my own power gels. And yes again, I did expect much din siguro kasi INTERNATIONAL Marathon sinalihan namin, so kala nmin same ng mga international marathon ang ,, wag na…
    ok n yun…

  21. @khalbs … you are perfectly right. The event we joined was dubbed as an “international marathon” and yet even the basic necessities of regular running events are missing – safe and cold drinking water, ice, marshall don’t have flashlights on dark areas (especially the place near ecopark – magkakabungguan ang mga runners if you don’t make a noise or shout while running – you have to slow down dahil mahirap sumalpok sa kapwa runners), portalets are not enough for the runners kaya the odor is stinking even before you step inside dahil konti lang ang available), kilometer markins are not enough). E what more if you compare this event to other international marathons. You cannot even rate this event at 3 (on 1-10scale) if you compared this to other marathons in asian countries. and will not pass 2 compared to marathons outside asia. We just don’t have to join this one next time dahil according to an old-timer marathon .. pangatlong taon na raw e ganon pa rin ang sistema ng QCIM just like the previous 2 events.

  22. @khalbs….honestly i already heard so much (unsatisfactory)comments about this race.. i even raised my concerns with the organizers…. so i braced myself for the worst condition… luckily for me…i did find hydration OK…but the traffic control….brutal!!! 1 thing is for sure though… I AM DONE WITH QCIM!!! NO MAS!!!

  25. I joined the macau international marathon two years ago.

Hydration spots every 2kms. The best part – they were handing Cadbury chocolates and milk on kilometer 30 onwards. Why? They say that marathoners hit the wall between km 30 to 35 – and you need sugar to climb that wall. And yes, my lootbag was full – with a t-shirt and a sunvisor from some chinese company.

Compared to the QCIM, which i also joined – it’s even hardly a 1.

  28. it will be my first and last run in QCIM…i will find another place to conquer.. last yr. i miss to run in QCIM, so aftr that event last year, i said to myself.. next run, “Hindi kita Tatantanan” pro next year’s event… Excuse me po!!!!

And Why is puro 10K runner lang yung maraming foto..hahaha just wondering…..

  31. Next time if you will join the QCIM4..
Im outta here!!!
@ greeneyes and johnnycage: TAMA kyo.. see you on next RUN.

  32. International Marathon! lol

Kung first time mo tumakbo dito sa QC…mapapatawad mo pa tong QCIM. Parang ako.

Pero say next year takbo ka again and ganito pa din? Ah di na lang. Siguro yun na feel ng mga tumakbo last year or two years before kasi sabi nila di naman daw nag improve.

:) Still hoping for the best since I am from QC and I want it to be one of the best Marathons in the country.

Subic and Condura ma try ko pa next year. Camsur di na ako abot. Para may comparison ako.

  34. @bert (post #131)
hello sir! you’re the Philippine flag-bearing guy! thanks for waving it up sir :) and congratulations on your feat! I also run 21k and though it was not my best 21k, it was OK.

Seems like sa 3 years na pag-organize ng QCIM, wala pa ring nakakareach sa expected standards…we might need a new organizer..sayang, ganda and challenging ng route :)

I have learned not to expect much from a race lalo na kapag ang may patakbo ay Govierno, national man o local. Paano,kita-kits tayo ulit next year ha? Mabuhay ang mga Pinoy Runners!!

  36. On the contrary, I feel sorry for those runners who felt cheated and short-changed with the way they were treated at QCIM. I cannot blame them for hurting so much. The event was touted or promoted as a premier marathon in the country as it boasts of a magnificent route. It was even billed as an international marathon that is expected to attract runners from around the world who are ready to spend their money and time for them to participate. Considering such a promotion, people, especially those who are new and even some veteran runners are expecting so much from this big athletic event. They were made to think that everything will be in its highest order of organization of professional caliber. Aside from the complaints mentioned, there were reports that people squabbled for freebies like umbrellas etc and some participants took more than their rightful share, etc. That’s not a good thing to see, especially to foreigners. Embarrassing to say the least. It means there was no order or control from the organizers. For certain runners who expect that they be treated to some goodies at the end of their physical conquest, it would be truly disappointing to know that such will not be given to them. The air could be filled with runners’ cursings and that’s very very bad. I am not saying that I was not affected. The comfort of finishers at the end is priceless and that adds up to the pleasure of having run a race and promises to come back next year. I may have matured as a runner after having been exposed to ultramarathoning courtesy of our beloved ultrarunning “promotors” Sirs Jovie Narcise and Jonel Mendoza, both in road and trail. So I think, for my 2-cents worth, race organizers should take it to their heart the comments given by those people who sweated it out in their “prestigious” races lest they find themselves crucified by some runners at the end of the race. Make it better next time partners. Thank you fellow-runners and see you again at the strip with a sign saying, STARTING LINE. God bless us all Pinoy Runners!

  37. @ bert … it’s great to hear that you have enjoyed your first running experience here in Philippines. We hope you will have the opportunity to have a business travel again here and join our running community. The Camsur International Marathon and Subic International Marathon are worth to mention to you (both are being held outside Metro Manila – Camsur is about 400 kms south of Manila while Subic is about 130 kms north of Manila). You can enjoy the run and at the same time enjoy our countyside sceneries before and after your run. Other running events worth mentioning are the Corregidor International Half Marathon – which is held every second weekend of December (this is being staged at our historic island where American and Filipino military troups joined forces against Japs during World War 2; runs at Tagaytay City like Nathan Ridge run (Tagaytay is just about 55-60 kms south of Manila). We wish you an enjoyable holidays as well.

  38. @LeoLarangan … thanks for the info about the Macau International Marathon … pinagiisipan nga namin kung Thailand or Macau ang tatakbuhan namin next year. Good na tama kang magbigay ng info about Macau unlike others na di ko alam kung nanlilito lang ng information or tama ba ang ibinibigay.

  39. bakit po hindi lahat ng pangalan ng runners who joined the qcim 3 ay naka post sa updated result nyo? sana po ma kumpleto nyo yung lists ng runners. thanks.

  40. @redcapguy..greetings sir! you’re most welcome, it’s a pleasure carrying our nation’s flag during marathons here in the u.s. and at home. i hope to do it again sometime in the future. congrats likewise on your successful 21K finish!!

@tryx..thanks for the info. i’m pretty sure i’ll run a few of the aforementioned races, but will see what the future brings. being in the u.s. military is kind of tough making plans especially with these crazy world we live in..RUN SAFE ALWAYS EVERYONE!!!!!!!

  41. @mj you can check out your race time at the strider website. Your name should be there if you wore the shoe tag correctly. strider.ph/events just click your category and search for your bib number

The Kenyan lead runner in 42k got his singlet pulled from behind by some kid and there were hooligans lying down on the road in front of the lead runners when they reached the Manggahan area and somebody got their car pried open and everything inside stolen while parked in QC memorial circle. Parking security and better marshalls are definitely needed.

  42. @bert.. I definitely recommend you try out Subic International Marathon (Jan. 22-23) held in the former Subic Bay NAS I heard the views are spectacular and Condura Skyway Marathon (Feb. 5) along the elevated skyway section of the south expressway and has a great view of the city. We got a marathon or two every weekend for any number of charitable causes.

  43. @JP..thanks!, love to do it but i ‘ve decided to run the shamrock in march.it’s 9 miles from my house as opposed to flying 8,000 miles to the phils. maybe if i train harder this winter i could qualify for boston 2013. i’ve missed it by 7 min. in my age group this year.
