“LOVE A TREE” Tanay Trail Half-Marathon – Feb. 25-26, 2012

love-a-tree-tanay-trail-run-2012

Tanay mountain ranges are the last line of defense of Metro-Manila against the strong typhoons, storms, and flooding but it is pitifully balding because of indiscriminate slash and burn practice of upland dwellers who have no other recourse for livelihood but to cut trees for charcoal making and burn mountain for planting of rice.

  1. Thank you for your concerns regarding sa date ng event. mali lng ng date ang google sa link. but pagnakapasok na kayo sa Pinoy Fitness Website, tama ang Schedule (February 25-26, 2012)

  2. kinda interesting!
    hav few questions:

    1. transpo is fr wer and wat time? i am fr taguig.

    2. planned to reg 4 of us: me, hubby, and 2kids:14yo son, 9yo daughter. but only me and hubby will run 21k, and the kids wont(bale camping and outdoor activites lng sila). kud the kids get discount on reg fee?

    3. are all bayad of the ones listed under outdoor activities ksma na sa reg fee?

    4. can we bring our own fud? no extra fee?

    5. wat wud u suggest we bring other than our running gears?

    thanks madami. kinda excited!

  3. Transportation is already included in registration fees. If you will go there on your own, we will less P200 sa registration. Merong pick-up point sa BGC, Cubao, Alabang, Antipolo..i will post the lists of Pick-up points once na ma-check ko kung saang area manggagaling ang mga runners. Accomodation is per head. Thanks

  4. @drunner, you can bring your own foods without extra charge. may area sa sierra madre na pwedeng magluto kelangan lng magdala ng sariling gamit. All outdoor activities are included sa accomodation with complimentary breakfast on the 26th.

  5. Accommodation is not included in registration fee. We’re giving 10% discount to registered runners availing accommodation aside from P100 OFF on registration given to all Pinoy Fitness members.

  6. Will it be okay for a trail run beginner to try a 21K distance? I’ve run a few 21K already but those are road races, this will be my first time joining a Trail Run. Will there be a big difference? I know that on Trail Runs, balance is also important since you’re going to adjust your steps based on the ground unlike on road races wherein you can have even strides.

  7. Sir alvin, how much po pag accomodation lang pag hindi mag ra run yung kids ? and how much pag registration lang pag trail run lang ang sasalihan ? Any pick up points in North Area ? thanks.

  8. @debron, Tanay Trail Run its not 100% trail and its not hardcore like makiling. kung tumatakbo ka na ng 21K ang difference nya ay ang trail, may rough roads and river crossing. ang venue ay nasa bundok kaya expect na may pataas at pababa on-roads and off-roads.

  9. @alvin
What if bro di na mag-overnight,ang taas kasi ng accomodation eh, ung run lang, may pick-up point ka din? or yung may pick-up point lang eh yung mag-o overnight? gusto ko sna tumakbo lang, ksama parin ba sa reg ung transpo? tenks!

  10. ^ sir sa trail run,,P1,250.00-21K and P1,000.00-10K ang babayaran, at kasama na ang transpo. According to alvin, less P200 pag kaw bahala sa transpo mo.

  11. @pedelcarmen, khit walang accommodation may sasakyan pa rin papuntang venue at pabalik on the 26th. naka package na sa registration. i’ll post the pick-up point and time soon.

  12. hi alvin … we are planning to register for this event …just few questions though:
    1) is the route the pavement roads of Tanay. These are killer slopes which will definitely enjoyed by the runners especially the 21K runners. Apex runners have practiced on this highway before
    2) Can we just pay for the transpo expense of our family members who want to join us even without running. We will be joined by some of our family members who are not running but will just cheer us along the route and will be joining us for an overnight accomodation (as per your accomodation package per person)
    3) please confirm if there will be finisher’s medal and finisher’s shirt for 21K runners

  13. @tryx, yes…21K will use the killer slopes of Tanay. May nakausap ako before na coach ng Apex na doon nga sila nag practice. Killer slopes(paved) plus rough roads. If you have family members/friends na hindi magra-run, just pay for their transportation. Accommodation is per head ( please see accommodation package above for outdoor activities included in the accommodation). Pwede ring magparticipate sa tree planting ang family member/friends na kasama mo. we will labelled the tree kung sino ang nagtanim. Merong finishers medal and certificate ang 21K,unfortunately walang finishers shirt. Thanks.

  20. Sir alvin,
Question po, bale 2 kami sasali dito. Pareho kami sasali sa 10k,avail kami package 2 (tent) and both PF members. Magkano na lang babayaran namin nun? Thanks.

    Trail runners,
Question po, first time ko mag trail run, may hydration rin ba to same ng road races or bring your own to? Thanks.

Kindly register na lang sa run sa mga registration sites, open na sa R.O.X and ARC Manila then call us at 532-1645/571-0524 for accommodation booking kasi separate ang registration sa bookings. for your info, we have 5 Hydration station for 10K and 10 hydration station for 21 K…meaning there is a hydration station for every 1.8K

  22. Sa mga may experiences na running such 21K trail run, kailangan ba ng trail shoes? hindi ba to kaya ng mga regular road running shoes?
Sir Alvin, follow up ko lng ung inquiry ni Jake na mga ilang percent ung estimated na trail for a 21K.

Thanks for your responses sa mga questions namin :)

  23. @dbron 50% ang trail with river crossing, pero hindi sya hardcore like makiling. we’re using the killer slope of Tanay (Marcos Highway)

  24. Thanks Alvin for the quick responses to our inquiries. Aside from the registration sites at the top of this age, do you registation booths on some sports outlets located in malls like Chris Sports or Athlete’s Foot? Are there any sample pics of the route scenery, just to add up to the excitement but it’s alright if there’s none :)

  29. thanks, alvin.

but i guess ok lang naman kumuha ng accommodation if i’m going solo? most probably may makakasama naman siguro ako na participant sa run sa room?

  30. Hi when i register will they have a list for those who availed of the 100 php off through Pinoy Fitness? Is it understood that I pay only 900 php for 10k? or should i wait for a confirmation from Pinoy Fitness? Thank you.

  31. Sir, how about transportation from Tanay pabalik sa Metro Manila. Kasama po ba sa package yun? If yes, what time po? If no, may public transportation po bang available? thank you!

  32. Registered for 10k ang tagged along 2 more runners. Is there a river crossing for 10k as well? Just following up on QP’s question on whether our shoes will get wet or not. Thanks

  33. Hello. Can we invite a friend to come even if he/she will not join the run? I understand that he/she would still have to pay the transportation fee.

  34. On February 26, 2012 there are other races in Metro-Manila to choose from but you have been running and inhaling polluted air from million cars exhaust in the cities, isnt it time you give your lungs a break and give it unpolluted fresh air to breath? This place is only 1 hour drive. If you are going in any place in Metro-Manila on busy day, chances are you will get here first that how close it is. Discover it now and enjoy the race – Join Love A Tree – Tanay Trail Half Marathon.

  35. Thanks Alvin for the response. Is our bib number enough to show the staff at the pickup point for us to be able to get inside the bus? We registered last week but we didn’t notice anything extra being given to us like a bus ticket or anything that could serve as a proof that we must be included in the transpo. Thanks in advance Alvin.

Yes you ca invite your friends kahit hindi cla magrurun. they need to pay for their transpo and entrance (P350.00)please call 532-1645/571-0524 for reservation and payment. thanks

  38. And would there still be a need to pay 350 even if a non-runner won’t participate in the outdoor activities on saturday (my friend will be coming along with me on Sunday only)?

  39. Yes, we registered around 2nd week of January. We’re just waiting for the transportation details be finalized and so is the trail run :)

  40. Hi!

Where exactly is the pick-up point at Cubao?

Also, Runners’ Runner haven’t delivered our race kits yet. We have registered already around second week of January. Please follow them up. Hoping everything’s in our race kit (bus pass, swimming pass, etc.)

  41. Getting to Sierra Madre Hotel & Resort from QC is simple even without map.
take Katipunan road heading towards Marcos Highway (58km from katipunan to smhr). It’s just a straight route (no lefts, no rights, only curves). =) These landmarks may help you…
Go past > LRT Santolan station > Robinsons’ East Mall & Sta. Lucia East > Masinag intersection straight on towards Cogeo > past Cogeo market/bayan
    > past Padilla > Providence Memorial Park > ARC cola plantation > Buso-buso Highland Resort > Paenaan Farm > Palo Alto (from there about 14km more) > Camp site > Tablon Elem. School > onwards… with a stretch of white bar fencing and with white gate on your left) you’ll reach SMHR in about 45mins-1hour drive.

  42. Thanks Alvin! :) Got my race kit from Runners’ Runner yesterday already!

Anyway, it only contains my singlet and race number. Ummm.. What about bus/transpo passes? Could we just get in the bus? My friends and I are planning to board at the Cubao pick-up point. Also, where exactly in Cubao?

Lastly, are all the swimming passes already taken? If yes, is it possible to take a shower after the race even without the swimming pass?

    Thanks a lot! :)

  43. This weekend na ung event. Alvin, naka set na ba ung sa transpo like ung pickup points sa Cubao and Marcos Highway going to Cogeo (Masinag market) and ung bus passes? Diba kailangan may ipresent kami upon boarding the bus to prove na dun kami nakaset for pick up?
