  1. sabi nila sa ads it will be out today then the official results after a week. inaabangan ko din yung unofficial results ngayon i hope they release it within the day

Anyways, I enjoyed my 1st 10k Run. Looking forward for more :)

  4. @tinjie and reydor I feel bad for your race experience…you must’ve been strolling to notice all the negative behaviors of others…and believe me it doesn’t help that that’s all you noticed…you should also share something positive coz that’s what make races fun hence the term fun run ;)

  5. I agree. There are even runners who cheated. They cut corners as if it’s the normal thing to do. The presence of marshalls are very minimal, that’s why it’s so easy to cheat. I hope the timing chip could track these cheaters.

  6. @ Thor: i participated in more than 30 races, and my comment is based on the negative realities that happen. i also have positive experiences, but the context of my reply to what tinjie had written here is on some runners’ bad etiquette.

  7. @ thor: this november, i am scheduled to run in all sundays (4), and i will not stroll or will not walk just to observe the negative behaviors of other runners. sorry, but i do not join just to experience disappointments. i am a serious runner and i join because i want to have fun whether it is fun run or marathon.

In my observation and experience, sa mga over populated running events talaga madaming ganyan tulad sa Milo at lalo na sa 10.10.10 para sa pasig.

  10. Hi! are there official race pictures for the KOTR 2010?

I think the reg fee of 850 was too expensive considering all the stuff they’ve provided for the runners.

Naubusan pa nga ng Powerade… but overall it was a good run. But Adidas can do a lot better next time.

  11. That’s part of the game guys. I think those rough and bumpy experiences on road races would make you wiser, tougher and better runners. Consider running similar to life, you have to be more competitive, tougher, adaptive, focus and proactive person. Just don’t do what they did to you. Be self controlled, do not retaliate, by doing so makes you more mature than them.

If you are a serious runner (like me)why bother na isipin yung mga maling attitudes ng mga runners? We have our own personal agenda pagdating sa running. problema na nila yung kung baboy sila pagdating sa race.

Do you think na sa mga international race like NY Marathon, HK Marathon, etc eh walang ganyan?isip..isip…

If you want a race na ganun yng mga walang baboy, dapat sumasali kayo sa mga race EXCLUSIVE sa may mga BREED na tao..

  14. major complaint of 21k runners, naubusan ng tubig. especially sa 5th/lawton ave. paano nangyari un? t’was expected that there are more than 1,2k runners that will be passing that water station. was my first time that i got tempted na pumulot ng powerade sa bangketa. pasalamat ang adidas at extribe at hindi masyado maaraw kahapon at baka me na-heatstroke. meron nga pala nahimatay na 21k runner, for reasons i do not know at this time. hopefully it wasn’t because of lack of hydration

  15. @thor: This is the first time that I throw a bad feedback on a run. It just so happen that my comment came because of the fact that the running etiquette that I’ve mentioned is serious (i am referring dun sa mga nag oovertake ha) if this is not apply by runners madaming pedeng mangyari pero ung peak nun is ung bka maka aksidente tayo ng kapwa runners which is aminin na natin hindi namn pag sumigaw ka ng medic e njan na sila db. It will take time bago pa din sila dumating.

Since bata ako I am joining fun run in our subdivision kaya I know ung sinasabi mong ‘fun run’ kaya madami akong friend sa d2 sa amin because I got to know ung mga mlalayong kapitbahay na kasabay ko tumatakbo :)

  16. @ Rotech I like the part that says

    1) “That’s part of the game…”
)2 those rough and bumpy experiences on road races would make you wiser, tougher and better runners.”
    3) “you have to be more competitive, tougher, adaptive, focus and proactive…”

If I had joined 30+++ races I think I would’ve learned all these! Haha! But no KOTR 2010 is my first and I finished 10k in 53:48 minutes…thats not bad for a 1st timer…is it? I had a great time and I was all by myself! Next run is HSBC

  17. @ Rotech

I like the parts that say:

    1) “That’s part of the game…”
)2 those rough and bumpy experiences on road races would make you wiser, tougher and better runners.”
    3) “you have to be more competitive, tougher, adaptive, focus and proactive…”

If I had joined 30+++ races I think I would’ve learned all these and more! Haha! But no KOTR 2010 is my first and I finished 10k in 53:48 minutes…thats not bad for a 1st timer I have been told. I had a great time and I was all by myself! Next run is HSBC I will be with full infantry then!

  18. yes, when i got to the last water station, there is no more water, good thing i always bring a bottle with me and replace it with a new one when i get to any waterstation.
I have enjoyed the race and the weather was great.Overtaking..is just part of the game :-) Etiquette? i didnt know there was one for running:-)
Although, i complain about the baggage area, the race is about to start, and im still on the looooonnnggg line at the baggage area, they should have separated it by distance. For whatever reason, i was ancipating a better breakfast rather than pandesal and a hotdog and banana :-).
Oh yea,,, was there any certificate? i didnt see any..

  19. Today, 24 October is my daughter’s birthday and I told her this RUN is for you. I run on the right side lane of the road bcoz I want to recall in every stride how she looks like when she was still a baby till this very day and i want to run slow to complete the timeline memory, at the finish line she was there all smiling, clapping, waving saying I’m here Dad, ang pakiramdam ko “I’m the King of the road” Happy birthday my little princess daddy loves you so much.

  20. I heard so many negative feedback about the race. But for my personal experience, I enjoyed my 1st Adidas KOTR race. It’s my 1st official 10K run and very happy with the result of my race. Anyway, I hope Adidas and the organizer will learn from this experience. There’s a lot of room for improvement. Thanks AKOTR!

  21. as runner its our responsibility to bring our own hydration. and about the running etiquette? there is no such thing as running etiquette if your running on a race with a very large number of participants. its very hard to overtake because many were walking on the middle of the road, many were taking their pictures and many were walking/running while listening to their mp3 players. most probably this is my first and last KOTR. congrats to all who joined and finished the race.

  22. @Pseudo Barefoot Runner: Brod, natawa naman ako na namulot ka na ng Powerade sa kalsado just to hydrate. Pero kidding aside, that’s survival instict, and that’s wise.
Anyway congrats.
@Ches: Muntik ka ng madapa, I think you need somebody by your side to pick you up. Single ka pa ba? Kung single ka pa, sana meron dito who would be willing to be your next running date?

  23. @Pseudo: hhaaayyy buti naman di lang ako nag-iisang namulot ng powerade sa kalye just to hydrate myself. Before i drink, i shouted “LORD WALA SANANG SAKIT”. I’ve done it twice kasi kulang tlaga sa hydration.

So far, so good naman..wala pa akong nararamdaman until now after the race.

Pansin ko rin, walang SPLIT TIME yung event. So free for all sa mga gustong mangdaya.. hassle dun sa area na bottle-neck yung mga 10-21k runners, dun sa putikan, yung ibang runners eh nag-shortcut sa may construction dumaan.dinaan na lang namin sa kulitan by saying hello sa mga 10k runners. :D. i cant say KUDOS sa addidas sa event na ito. but i can say na THANK GOD at lahat tayo ok.

sa BUFFET BREAKFAST, SALAMAT KAY FORTUNE FOR ADDITIONAL PANDESAL..YUMM..YUMM..

  24. LOL, natawa ako sa times…2x faster sa akin yung first place for the half marathon…hindi pa ako tapos ng 10K ko, tapos na siya. Oh gulay…practice, practice! Haha!

Buffet ba yung breakfast? Bakit isa lang kinuha ko? :P

  25. @thor: your reaction is based on your first race. i understand, and i congratulate you for a 53:48 finish (pwede ihanay sa veteran). going back to the topic, i am not bragging about being a veteran runner here, who am i to do so? what i am trying to point out is how others simply do not care whether they trample upon other runners’ rights. i just share what bad things that really happen in a race, and what i have enumerated here are just “some” of these, which hopefully can awaken persons who do such things. i am not retroactive, otherwise i would not have joined that number of races if i always feel disappointed with every race. I agree with Rotech, we have to be tougher, wiser, competitive, adaptive, focused, etc. I feel that I have acquired some of those traits, but i believe that I/we also have to call the attention of others if necessary. Many times, runners complain about the mishandling of event of race organizers, but few things are mentioned about how some runners contribute to its occurrence.

  26. I enjoyed it! actually it was my first time to join a fun run.

about the racing etiquette, hmmmnn… reality bites and hindi talaga sya maiiwasan since different people joined the event! yes, there were flaws but this could lead to a better one next time!=)

  27. @NRICO….you’re a very sweet & loving dad…belated happy b-day to your baby girl!

First issue….i agree with you reydor & tinjie, there were really a lot of rude & ill-mannered runners right before the start of race. There was this lady who repeatingly said excuse me in a arrogant tone but was pushing us out of the way to get to the starting line & i got pissed and told her “hindi tatakbo ang kalye!” She gave the look and i asked her ANO????
Then i found out kaya pala mayabang kasi elite runner! Some were bumping others
during the run. Spitting & throwing cups are tolerable bec. the one behind is responsible & should be on the look out for her/his safety in front of them but to be pushed & bumped from behind is unforgivable bec. you cant protect yourself from a surprised onslaught. Kaya nga i separated from the pack tried to run in an open space to avoid these mishaps bec. its really infuriating.

Last issue is the much publicized breakfast buffet. Really really funny co’z i was imagining the food would be somewhat in the likes of tapsilog etc. But when i opened the pack, i got disappointed bec. i was expecting a rice would come with it but no it was pandesal. In fairness the fortune bread tasted good….grabe talaga!

Moral lesson, i will go to the gym more frequently to pack up some muscles. When i get bumped again i can withstand the pushing & shoving AND NO MORE dreaming of yummy breakfast thats it….

by the way guys, malapit na ang men’s health urbanathlon. hope to see you there. let’s enjoy the obstacles and have fun throughout the race. dito makikita ang bunga ng mga cross trainings natin.

  30. Running Etiquette

While runners are a friendly lot, each one of us still needs to do our part to keep our paths, roads and trails safe and enjoyable for everyone, including non-runners. Below are some basic guidelines to adhere to if you’re running along a multi-use path, trail or on the road as well as some race etiquette.

On the path, trail or road

Especially if you run in high-traffic areas such as Chicago’s Lincoln Park, popular forest preserves in the suburbs, or busy streets:

◦Always stay to the right unless you are passing someone. Be very careful merging left into a passing lane. A cyclist, another runner or roller blader could be passing you and you don’t want to get run over from behind.
◦Never run more than two abreast when you are with a group. Do not force other runners, pedestrians or cyclists off of the path. If you are in a particularly busy area, run single file.
◦Never stop suddenly in the middle of a run.
◦Always look both ways—at least twice—before entering or exiting a path, when you are approaching intersections and at drinking fountains.
    ◦Never litter.
◦Be considerate of those around you and remember that others may be using the same path, trail or road that you are.

  31. At a race

◦Do not run in a race if you are not officially registered. It can take away from the resources of paid participants, create unnecessary traffic and pose insurance risks. Just don’t do it.
◦Similarly, unless a race allows it, do not buy another’s bib number and consider yourself entered. Unless you registered and signed the waiver yourself, you are not registered.
◦Line up according to the pace you plan to run. If you are a slower runner, that’s OK, just don’t stand right in the front of the pack.
◦Follow the instructions of course marshals.
◦Don’t wear headphones. You reduce your awareness of your surroundings, which is particularly dangerous in a high-traffic race environment. It may also prevent you from hearing instructions from course marshals. Many races ban them and will ask you to remove them prior to entering the race course.
◦Do not stop suddenly at water tables or if you drop something or if your shoe comes untied. Move to the side slowly and make sure you do not cut off another runner. It’s OK to walk while you drink your water. Just stay to the side and carefully merge back with the other runners when you are ready.
◦It’s preferable to leave your cups or other items you may need to discard at a water station. Never throw trash on someone’s front yard or on more remote areas of the course.
◦Use caution and control approaching the finish line. Don’t cut off other runners and don’t stop suddenly right after crossing the finish line.
◦Do not bring dogs, strollers, inline skates, bicycles, or other similar items to a race if the race instructions forbid them. They pose safety hazards to other participants and may violate insurance coverage. Also, it’s not a great idea to try to use your cell phone during a race so ask your friends and family to come out and watch you or call them when you’re done.

  32. @ ruehl: thanks for posting these basic guidelines/ etiquette for runners. For me, the bottom line is in the statement:
◦Be considerate of those around you and remember that others may be using the same path, trail or road that you are.

  33. i cant find my race results online. my bib number is 7612. 10k, anyone else experiencing this problem. i followed proper instructions on how to install the rfid on my shoe, and still i cant find my race results online. i also have running buddy who was not able to run that day, his bib number is 7195, yet im able to see his race results. Zero and not yet started nga lang because he did not run. did most of the rfid’s failed?

@cecille, “Moral lesson, i will go to the gym more frequently to pack up some muscles. When i get bumped again i can withstand the pushing & shoving” natawa po ako ak dito :) congrats sa inyong run

  35. Guys, I regularly lift weights for my anaerobic threshhold. Don’t forget to strengthen your core muscles. You should balance running and core muscle strengthening exercises. Weight training would make your firmer, plus the good looks of course, with rock-hard arms and well-packed abs.

  36. @Rotech

I definitely agree! Plus a well developed upper body (from weight/resistance training) would make any singlet look badass! Haha!

  38. @John, increase intake of protein bro. When you schedule for a lift, eat two eggs (white only), skimmed milk and carbohydrate-rich foods 1.5 – 2 hrs before exercise. A few minutes after eating the combined protein and carb foods, you’ll feel your muscle bulking up as if telling you that I’m ready to fire up. Then after 45 mins. – 1 hr of weight exercises (because going beyond 1 hr is often an abuse to one’s body), rest within 20 minutes and supply your body again with protein (low fat or skimmed milk) to aid in your muscle recovery and a bit of carb (kamote, suman, spaghetti, bread)for your body’s fuel. At night, control your diet in 1 cup of rice, fruits and two boiled eggs (just eat the white) for protein shake or protein shake if you wish to buy one. As a tip, you can steam a watercress (kangkong)leaves and include it in your meal as a cheap but nutritious source of other minerals your body needs. Mas maganda kung Chinese Kangkong kasi mas malambot ang tangkay but the ordinary big-leaf variety would do kung walang Chinese Kangkong. In Supermarkets maraming Chinse Kangkong, SM Dept store Cubao specifically.

  39. Madagdag ko rin, na kapag nagweight training ka, do not lift heavy weights agad, find a weight range na comportable kang buhatin at kaya mo ng gawin ng 15 repetitions in 3 sets na may 1 minute pahinga every set. Even in running, runners often neglect consumption of protein and just rely heavily on carbs. It’s a 40-40-20 of diet, 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% of vitamins & minerals (vegetables and fruits) or similarly saying of 40% go foods, 40% grow foods and 20% glow foods (cleansing and beautification foods).

  40. I was expecting more from the organizers but I’m a little bit disappointed..

    1. The route is a dirt road that runners should avoid puddles of water.
    2. The breakfast buffet was consist of 2 pandesal, 1 hotdog, bananas for dessert and 1 Powerade. Well,I didnt expect there will be caterer but tapsilog will be much better and hoping for more drinks.
    3. With the results, I cant compare my run within my age group, only by Gender.

Well, I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the run. FUN RUN nga eh :)

  41. i joined several marathons already but the adidas kotr is one of my worst 21k run experiences next to milo…i brought my own hydration but i would definitely need hydration support from the organizers. to my dismay, there was no more water or powerade available from buendia (turning point for 21k) to essensa! more than proper etiquette, i think the basic necessities to be provided to the runners, i.e., adequate hydration, should be given more attention.

  42. people! the bottom line, not all expensive races are well organized! and not all runners know the etiquette! dont expect others to be like us! i was in the St. Peters Run in Tiendesitas and it was really really nice! why? 1)perfect for training, because of the uphills 2) ice cold water in their stations, even though there are no energy drinks 3)goody bag 4)accurate distance 5)top 10 was awarded 6)costumes made it really a fun run 7)php50.00 registration fee w/singlet 8)donated php550,000 to Bantay Bata! wapak! and also, elite runners are also there too, that makes it more exciting!

  43. @pinoyfitness…. Are those the only pix that will be posted? May official photogs ang adidas??? wahhhh….i have no pix, not event my colored bandana was captured ;(……kaya nga i wore a colored bandana so i can see my pix right away hu hu hu!!!!!

  44. Why is it that bib #4011 was not included in the race results? She wore her tag in place and she had been running in most races. What happened here?

  45. I wasn’t able to run last Sunday because am still recovering from sickness but good thing also that somebody bought by 21K kit. Nonetheless, I symphatize with you guys who expressed disappointment, mahirap nga naman na P850 ang bayad, ang mahal na kulang pa ang support, wala pang photovendo for the pix. What I can say is just move on, and may it serve some valued lessons to all of us. Most of us are spending hard-earned money, next year, malamang P1,000 plus na ang Adidas KOTR na to. The question is, will you still join?

  46. @rotech ngayon ko lang nabasa yung advice mo. tnx bro. i’ll keep that in mind.

and about the running date you mentioned somewhere above, i was thinking the same. i’m planning to do a run-a-date for February 2011-maybe in Condura Run or in other events. hopefully, someone is interested to join me (i’ll pay for her registration, by the way)… hehe

  47. paging adidas…..please change your organizer for your next race. Registration is a bit pricey tapos pandesal lang, buti na lang masarap yun fortune…

Masyado tipid sa hydration station (it would be better next time na paper cups ang gamitin instead of plastic cups) wala pa goody bags…parang gusto ko humingi ng sukli dun sa Php850.00 hehe…

    God bless everyone!!

  48. noel, i got the same problem. i can’t find my resutls as well. my race number is 7610 for 10k. :( anyone has solution for this?

  49. To all available female runners out there. Here is our runningmate John calling for a running date for Condura Run next year. Any single lady who would be willing to run side-by-side with him please let us know, or lose your chance to win the heart of this man.

But why wait for the Condura Run, if you can have a date as early as the Urbanathlon?

Pag di mo type bro, be gentle also, pagapangin mo tapos hilahin mo pag nasa unahan ka na.

  50. Your right guys just let them go with their etiquette, concentrate on your run and aim on goal to finish the race.
@Adidas, although there were short comings on your fun run try to correct it next time so that all runners will be satisfied .

  51. @rotech ahaha…may mga kasama na kasi ako dude sa mga next run ko. tsaka February is the love month kaya mas appropriate yung event.

tsaka i have to open the application this early pa lang kasi baka walang mag-apply kapag short notice…hehe

  52. Hi,

Regarding some runners who spits while at the race, I myself is guilty of this, though I do look behind first if there’s any person near or coming. In my opinion, it’s okay to spit if it’s at proper place and timing. Also, even trained runners does spit at some point int he run.

  53. @Rotech-if you felt alone running, ako literally running alone most of the time since lulubog-lilitaw running buddy ko…hahaha…i thought may running buddy ka?

  54. @Ina. Because I don’t want to be left behind by my running date.

  55. @Rotech-ikaw ang elite runner dyan, newbie lang po ako in this field. i just run for fun, release my stress and share to the beneficiaries a part of what i hardly earned. i am not even concious of the time i will finish the race but concious kung nakakasagabal ba ako sa mga elite runners…
    @Pinoyfitness -:)

  57. I may have to need a running buddy very very soon for the longer runs! My current buddy is only for the fun of it (I want to be serious! LOL!!) and 21k is nowhere near his plans yet so this is plan B! LOL!
    Here’s my e-mail [email protected] Let’s talk!

  58. A running buddy sounds more fun. :-) I was actually looking for one before KOTR 2010 (my 8th run since my first last June 2009). I’m just an average runner. I finished 10K in 1:11. If ever I will join 21K, it will be my first.
    ([email protected])

  59. hehe..i’m having fun reading the posts here. It was my second time to join a race..sayang I wasn’t able to catch up on the gun start, we’re 20min behind the start of the race, the flow were already against us..hehehe. nakakahiya, but we have to move on and finish it. No barriers along the way coz’ only the three of us were running, King of the Road! literally..hahaha. But that was fun!
Running for Runrio3 on next week! so excited. Won’t be late anymore! hehe

  60. KOTR was such a disappointment even post-race … They have my surname spelled wrong which means that I don’t appear in the results search (can’t be found) and my downloadable photo has the wrong surname. I called 438-9021 and 543-4198, as indicated in the posters and told them to make the correction, this was October 25, Oct 26, still no correction made so I called again, in the pm still there was no correction made, I mean that’s simple encoding in the computer, Oct 27, sitll nothing, so I called again with the person telling me their boss is still taking a bath, a certain Ma’am Teleng as they refer to her… told them to give me a call and they never did…. OCt 28 still no correction made, I called and was informed that it will be changed, i forgot about it since I went out of the country. I checked it out 23 November, my race results still has the wrong surname, my downloadable photo has the wrong surname I called 438 9021, again this Teleng girl is taking a bath since 11am, 2pm I called, she was still taking a bath, what the hell, is this being professional and you call yourself a manager, you take a bath for 3 hours and the staff relayed to you my concern you don’t act on it… i asked again for a return call, 3 hours later or about 5pm still nothing so i called and I was informed it was under investigation, what the hell “investigation”??? can’t you just change the spelling first before you do the effin investigation…..it’s already November 24, so anyone with connections to the technical people and primetime creatives please help me, thanks…And Teleng you better clean up your act and be professional
