My first race was in college in 1987 for a half-marathon (in Baguio City) during our intramural. It was 24 years ago and it was only this May 2011 that I really got back into running again. How I wish I could do a half-mary again and slowly but surely I am increasing my running distances to get there.

September 2008, Oslo 10k.
10 months after a ski accident, left with a tear on my left knee meniscus. All of that 2 days after Christmas, one day before my Birthday. I'm an experienced skier. But one never knows what comes next in life. This time the surprise was an indescribable pain, and the visions of the upcoming struggle to come: the looming possibility of surgery, trudging along physiotherapy sessions. Pain. Pain.
My dutch doctor was a tough fella. He believes in natural healing, and all the pain and positive approach involved with.
I should stretch and walk whenever I could, regardless the pain.
He would consider surgery only if he couldn't see the slightest improvement.Could barely walk for three months, then started jogging, only 10 min 3x a week, mostly to check the knee's recovery level. After ruling out any need of surgery, the doctor allowed me to intensify my jogging, which in a few months became a regular running training.
I was so excited for this race, given all that I'd been through at the time I decided to register for it.
The thrill, anxiety, fear and motivation during the race, wow!
It was the most intense 1 hour of running in my whole life.
The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions.Posted 1 year ago # -

my very first run was last 06/11/2011 at BGC for the Mizuno Infinity Run II.
I registered for 5K during this event...
however, up until this time... im still running 5K <for the 6th time already!!! hahaha!> :D stuck with this distance :D
hopefully by 11/2011, i can increase my mileage and start running for 10K =)
whatever the distance is, im really glad I've started RUNNING =)it doesn't matter how slow you run for as long as you don't stop running ^_^Posted 1 year ago # -
My first run was Del Monte Dare to be Fit N Right way back November 2009 where I ran 5K. It was not so memorable in as much as I was just there to try how it felt to be in a fun run, and I never caught the running bug right after that moment I crossed the finish line. I felt so exhausted and never looked back. I again attempted to join the Milo marathon (5K) in 2010 but I was not able to get up early. I missed the event. I stopped thinking about running for quite some time until last May of this year, I joined a gym/fitness club. One day, an ad in FB caught my attention - the Rexona Run 2011 (July 24). I somehow got interested and originally planned to register for 5K. I said I've been in gym for 2 months, so I upgraded to 10K. At the last minute, a housemate teased me that I should go for 21K. I got challenged and did as he told. It was a very difficult run for me but I managed to finish it at 2:34:48 - my first 21K PR! I was happy to have accomplished something at the end of the event that I decided to run again. That day, I fell in love with running. Now, I make it sure that I jog at least twice a week or join fun runs at least once a month despite my busy work schedule. I consider running now as a vital part of keeping my body fit and healthy.

Started taking my first running steps October of last year making this month my running anniversary! However, my very first race which I joined and PAID for was the PSE Yearly Bull run which happened to be the very first race for 2011! What a great way indeed to jump start the year with something healthy and addicting! I was so glad I did my first race and still am. This coming new year, I am sure I will be relieving that particular first race experience with another Bull run and more! HM is it for me if they will be having that distance and hopefully, come March next year, I will be running my first ever FM through TBRDM. I have so much to be thankful to running and I can't afford to stop being so.

Replying to @neilgtrrz's post:
try running another 10K before you proceed with 15K sa RU3 so your
body will be able to adjust with the extra 5K. its always impt to
know our limitations and dont rush. no pressure. just take it easy
so you will also learn to enjoy each race.a lot of runners are very distance compulsive, hehe!
yeah try joining Energizer Night Race - they have 10K there.Posted 1 year ago # -
