Hi runners!

hi @PenaRUNzi. r u a diagnosed case of SCIATICA already?
ther r many causes of low back pain. sciatica, wen its d cause, radiates to thigh sometimes down to sole of affcted limb.
sciatic nerves(left and right) r d 2 biggest nerves n our body. so f 1(usually on 1 side only) s affected, sometimes its so painful u cant walk w it.
betr consult a doctor 4 a thorough physical and maybe some laboratory exam.
treatment has many considerations like age, weight, whether u hav other illnesses like hi-blood, diabetes, etc.
hope its nothing serious so u can keep on running pain-free.
you need a physical therapist, but first consult a doctor...i am a Physical Therapy...
I just had this for 2 weeks. Just rested, and did some light training. Not too hard. Yesterday I was running fine again.
Replying to @PenaRUNzi's post:
I once experienced extreme lower back pain that I can't move my hips at all. I was just lying down the whole time while the pain intensity was 8 out of 10 (10 being the highest). I fell asleep and when I woke up the pain lessened but I still could not stand for 3 seconds. Muscle pain reliever helped. For several weeks, I can feel mild pain most of the time, but I was not able to experience what you call sciatic nerve irritation. I went to an Orthopedic doctor and he had me undergo MRI. I knew then that I have a mild slipped disc. My Ortho-Rehab doctor did Nerve Test on me before a 12-session physical therapy. My nerves are normal according test result so she said it's also possible that the pain was muscular in nature. My lower back is well now. I just continue doing the exercises my PT taught me and I don't carry heavy objects as much as possible. I still run, in moderation and according to the limits that my body tells me.
You might have strained your lower back. I hurt my lower back 3 times already, the worst one from deadlifts. I found the williams exercises for low back pain to be effective each time. Still best to see a doctor though.
consult a doctor po... then a Physical therapist. :) Just had a lower back pain a couple weeks ago... but it's more of a muscular pain kc nakakatakbo pa ko. di lang ako makaupo.. at dahil pasaway ako, nawala naman xa.. anu daw?.. haha... God speed!
wow. thanks sa nag open ng topic. very informative!!! thansk for sharing people!! :o)
Try to have a myotherapy and chiropractic treatment in INTERCARE CLINIC. We are expert in dealing with that kind of situation. :)
Wow! Flood of replies! Thanks a lot, friends!
I was relieved from my therapy sessions last September. Good thing it was not sciatica, although the doctor said it's pinched nerve (not sure if they are the same). I did 6 therapy sessions.
But it took me a while to go back to walking then running. I did some reading on correct running form (also attended some running clinics).
I did my first 3K (again) last Sunday at Rain4Africa Run. Here are the links:

That's a little gift from those who shared their experiences.
Happy running!
