I love running. However, I don't want to lose weight... I am considered as what they call Hard-Gainer. I noticed that I started to lose weight since I started training (longer than 5K) for 10K run. what should I do?

wala naman health problems (i even consulted my doctor already). however, i noticed that almost always they equate running to losing weight. but i am completely the opposite. ayoko naman maging buto't-balat. ideal weight lang ako (60kgs @ 5'6"). but when i started longer runs (10k or more) ang bilis bumaba ng timbang ko. at super dami ko na kumain pero nahihirapan ako mag compensate.

Hi Edrick, same case here, its because our metabolism becomes faster.... what i did eat and eat but with quality foods, also I am supplementing my training with whey protein.... Before running, my weight was 75kgs, now my weight was 65kg, in span of 8 months, though right now nag maintain na ung weight ko sa 65kg. Na notice ko rin if di ako tumatakbo, like example 1 or 2 days off and panay buffet food, nag iincrease ang weight ko....

@Edrick, actually I have a friend before that is in a weight gain diet, what I can say is, it's actually as hard to do as to loose weight.
This is how I view this. To loose or gain weight, it's all about the amount of calories you expend and consume. I think average for a male for maintenance, you need to consume around 2500 calories, if you consume less you start loosing weight.
When you start running, example 5K, it means you burn of an average of 350-400 calories, for 10K run it can hit to somewhere at 700-750 calories, great if you want to loose weight right!? but if you DON'T want to loose weight, then you have to eat those calories back :)
So in your case, the rule of thumbs -> the more you run, the more you need to eat! How often do you run every week?
At this point, it's going to be how and what you consume to gain back those lost calories, i suggest a healthy combination of carbs and proteins, not just empty sugary foods :)

hubby: runs to gain weight: eat 2x the usual(no much change)

What you can do is lift weights! Muscle mass is heavier than fat.
It is also a common knowledge that if you eat less you'll lose weight. It actually is false. If you eat less your metabolism slows down, so the best way is to eat your usual volume then exercise more. If you plateaued, then you should try doing other sport or doing speed workouts.
Hope this helps!

in my case, i actually gain weight during training if i dont diet. when we train we actually build more muscle mass which is denser than fat.
basic principle ilin weight loss is: you have to burn more calories than you consume so it's the opposite for the principle of weight gain :-)believe you can and you're halfway there-Theodore RooseveltPosted 1 year ago # -

This is also a problem of mine since my BMI is only at ~19 and I'm training for a marathon. So kailangan talaga mag-Enervon HP at magstock ng cookies/cupcakes/chocolates/fruits for snacks. Multivitamins na rin and plenty of sleep, or as much as my work allows me to have.

same problem here. a lot of my officemates told me ang payat ko na daw. ayoko naman magover sa pagwowork out but i love running. di ako malakas kumain and another problem is, i work night shifts everyday for 5 straight days so puyatan talaga. i drink lots of caffeine to keep myself up s work. but i don't smoke naman. irregular din yung eating habits ko. i do my runs after shift. unhealthy dba. running is the only think that makes me healthy talaga. lol.

Para sa ating di magana kumain, pinakamainam yung small portions but frequent meals. I make it a point na laging may snacks and water sa harap ko. Kaya maya't maya, kain, inom. I drink Enervon HP 3x a day for protein and calories.

Yes, be good to your liver, delikado madami nutrients sa katawan unless you really use it up. Here's more:
1. Since you can take Mega-Mass and protein drink try to level up in your supplementation.
Try Creatine-mega-mass combo...
1st, rest your liver...no supplement for 2-3wks.
Then, take creatine in frequency indicated by package but just about 2/3 of the amount (pang-kano na metabolism nakapattern to...take it easy)
Then, take mega-mass also as directed.
2. Note that this can only be done for a 2-3 month cycle. This means that after 2-3 months of using these supplements, you have to rest your liver and completely stop for 3wks to a month. You may begin your cycle afterwards.
3. Regarding sa weight training. Try heavy sets. No 10 repetitions for you. do a 3x3 or 5x5. Meaning 3 sets of 3 repetitions or 5 sets of 5 reps... Train the large muscle groups only, no need for muscle definition workouts...running would take care of that ;)yun muna for now...antok na ko haha!

Ako simply lang. I just eat the calories that I need. I eat more carbohydrates if I know I will be running hard, then eat less if I am just going to hit the gym to lift.
Although, these days I need to lose some pounds since I was out from running due to a leg injury last March.
