EDSA-Half-Marathon

Since MMDA is closing Half of EDSA on Sunday (June 28, 2015) for Bikers and Pedestrians, we thought that this can be a great opportunity for runners to run a HALF-MARATHON along EDSA!

This might be the one and only opportunity for runners to run along the busy highway safely. Here’s the plan!

Approx 21K

Since based on the news, MMDA will close down parts of EDSA starting from SM Mall of Asia to Ortigas, so we thought that this would be the perfect race route.

Race Map:

1. Start from Ocean Drive in SM MOA
2. Run Along EDSA until SM MEGAMALL
3. UTurn Back via Shaw Blvd.
4. Run Back Along EDSA to starting point in SM MOA
5. Total Distance Approx ~ 23K

Disclaimer:
1. YES, this is a crazy idea, and we don’t recommend anyone doing this alone, but perhaps it’s a good idea if you are planning to do this with your running group and team.
2. Cars will still be at the other-half of EDSA, so be sure always be alert and take extra care
3. Bring your own Hydration.
4. This is just an idea, execute at your own risk and Take Care!

  1. May usok pa rin ng mga sasakyan kasi nasa kabilng lane sila. Kelangan nka mask . Hehe

  2. Marami ang makukuha natin sa edsa. Maraming usok, alikabok at mga sira ulong driver na nakatabi ka na nga pipinahan ka pa o kaya bubusihanan ka ng napakalakas lalong lalo na yung mga bus driver.

  3. Saka po ang tanong pa dyan mag lalagay ba sila ng mga barriers between bus lane, bike lane at, pedestrian lane? Kasi kung hindi napakataas ng possibility of accidents. Isipin mo kung may na out of control na bus.

  10. sana po earlier than 6 am kasi mainit na ang 7-8am. Sana din hindi umulan sa sunday, i’d love to run this with other runners, free pa :D

  11. not a good idea .. una, matrapik na nga ang edsa sasaraduhan pa. pangalawa, yung “safety” ng runners, alam naman natin ang mga driver ng buses dyan sa edsa kala mo nagkakarera at talaga namang walang disiplina. pangatlo, “pollution” naku eh grabe ang bhangin dyan sa edsa. alam ko sa mga runners exciting tong event na to kasi bagong route at edsa pa pero kung iisipin ng maigi hindi talaga tama. idagdag pa natin yung basurang na maproproduce ng event na to…

  12. wow gusto ko to! Sabi nga ng mga officemates ko pag uuwi na raw ako takbohin ko na lang daw ang edsa kasi traffic naman. Makasama dito total wala naman bayad.
