When Unilab Active Health called me up and asked me if I want to volunteer as a Pacer for target time 2:37 for a 21KM route at the recently concluded Run United 1 last March 8 in SM Mall of Asia, I immediately said yes.
Run United 1 brings back a lot of running memories, it was my first 21K way back in 2011, I can still remember how painful that run was, and how memorable it was at the same time.
Yes, that was me 4 years ago as I cross the finish line, my first ever 21K, face all red, totally out of breath and just glad that I was able to finish in one piece. So when the opportunity came to pace runners with almost the same target time, it was a definite yes.
What’s your best 21K time? I asked some of the runners who joined me, one said it was 2:55, the other 2:50, another mentioned that it’s his first time to run all the way, “kaya naman pala kung tama ang pace” he mentioned. We managed to cross the finish line at 2:38, 1 minute short of the target time, nonetheless still a Personal Best for most of the runners with me, totally an #exceedyourself moment.
Run United rocks! Thank you Unilab Active Health for giving me another memorable experience and an opportunity to help other runners exceed themselves.
Cheers to more races and PRs! Anyone wants to join me in Run United 2?
