Cobra Ironman 70.3 Power Up, Prize Up

Cobra-Ironman-2014-3
People say that things get easier the second time around, that’s what I thought, and boy was I wrong. The Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines was the “A” race of my friends and me this year where 2,494 other participants gathered this year on August 3, 2014 in Shangri-La Mactan Cebu. The racecourse was slightly different but proved to be a tougher race to finish compared to the last.

Participants generally agreed that this year was indeed tougher, due to the insanely strong head wind in the bike leg along the Cebu SRP and with some parts of the road still being repaired, extreme caution is needed when going through them, but as always, the warm cheer of the local Cebuano’s along the route never fails to give you that extra energy to make it through the grueling 90KM bike course.

Then finally the run was under the scorching mid-day sun with no clouds in sight! Luckily, they where serving cold water and provided cold showers, which help cooled us down during the run, and a good combination of a good combination of Summit and Isotonic Drinks gave me enough fuel to eventually finish the race.

Despite the additional challenges, my friends and I were all glad to be 2014 Cobra Ironman 70.3 PH finishers! Nothing worth having ever comes easy, right?
