The Makiling Campus Runners, a duly-recognized students organization of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, are once again staging our annual fun run, entitled “Makiling Challenge: Panibagong Yugto para sa Kinabukasan”, on September 16, 2012 as part of our main goal to promote running for fitness and total well-being. Being an annual event for the past decade, the Makiling Challenge is regarded as the longest running provincial marathon organized by a student organization, and is also one in the Philippines. The event has strategically toured running enthusiast within the scenic views of Mt. Makiling and around key places inside the UPLB campus, offering more challenging and scenic routes than road races held in the cities.
For this year, the event will be comprised of the traditional 5km and 10km category, as well as the student-only 3km run. In addition, a 16km run will be held, designed for the experienced and competitive runners. As it is the eleventh staging of this event, we aim to further exposed the participants to the benefits of running in a clean, unpolluted, and nature-filled environment as well as heighten the public’s environmental awareness.

  3. rain or shine. trail or road, you should be ready and careful. hindi rason ang kulang sa training, madulas ang kalsada (pavement or trail). kung di pa ready or lack of preparation, wag na tumakbo. puro reklamo na lang lage sa mga road or trail run.

  4. Greetings everyone!
While we would love to accomodate your requests for a change of date for the makiling challenge 11, the race date remains as is. Since this event is organized by a student organization, we are bound by the rules and regulations under the university and sept 16 is the last sunday for holding an activity involving uplb students. Any sunday earlier might be too early for us since the students also have exams, projects and other activities. Hopefully we can give an early announcement for makiling challenge 12 if the race will continue. :-)

  5. @angelo

    iba yung makiling quest.

yung makiling quest traverse ng makiling Sto Tomas Batangas to UPLB

Saka walang trail.
