One Fighting Championship™ brings ONE FC: PRIDE of a NATION to Manila

Headquartered in Singapore, One Fighting Championship™ (ONE FC) brings the most explosive Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event to Manila. As the largest MMA organization in Asia, One FC debuts with its fully loaded card of the best mixed martial artists from Asia and around the globe, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on August 31, 2012.

One Fighting Championship™ CEO Victor Cui promises all MMA fans an event that will surely rock the house. In his statement, “We have put together the greatest card in ONE FC history for our Manila event. When you put Shinya Aoki and Bibiano Fernandes on the same card, one can expect nothing less than an epic night of world‐class MMA action like Manila has never seen before. Manila is the fight capital of Asia and I want to bring the best fighters in Asia to the awesome fight‐fans of this great city. We are beyond excited to hold this incredible card in such a passionate and pride driven city.”

MMA superstars Andrei Arlovski, Bibiano Fernandes, Shinya Aoki, Gustavo Falciroli and Eduard Folayang were introduced to the media during the press launch held at the Magellan Function Room of the Discovery Hotel. And they promised to put a really good show come the event day.

Whom to watch out for? For one, there’s the pride of Asian MMA Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, who makes his highly – anticipated ONE FC debut. Shinya Aoki (30 – 6 – 1) is the DREAM Lightweight champion and has defeated Tatsuya Kawaijiri, Marcus Aurelio and Rich Clementi. He is a Brazilian Jiu – Jitsu and Judo black belt and is one of the top submission specialists in MMA sport. He is known as the “Grandmaster of Flying Submissions”.

Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang is back in action to represent the Philippines in the international MMA scene, and he will do his best to put the country once again in the world map of sports. Eduard is out to prove why he is considered as one of the top fighters in the Lightweight division. As of press time, the organisers are still finalising who will be his opponent.

The One FC main event features DREAM Bantamweight Champion Bibiano Fernades as he squares off with CFC Australia Champion Gustavo Falciroli in what will be considered as one of the most (if not the only) explosives fight in the history of MMA in Asia. Fernandes holds an 11 – 3 record finishing mostly of his fights via a TKO or submission. Globally, he is one of the top five fighters in the Bantamweight division. During his most recent bout, he beat WEC Bantamweight Antonio Banuelos in just 1:21 off Round One.

Falciroli is CFC Australia’s Bantamweight Champion and is currently on a two – fight win streak. He is also a Brazilian Jiu – Jitsu black belt. He defeated South Korea’s Soo Chul Kim in 1:12 in the first round with his rear naked choke submission technique.

Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski and Jens “Lil Evil” Pulver make their ONE FC debut here in Manila. Arlovski fights against Soa Palelei and is out to prove that his fights are the ones to look forward to in every ONE FC event. Pulver squares off with one of the Philippines’ pride Eric “The Natural” Kelly.

Expect for more exciting developments in the line up of contenders in the next few weeks to come, as the card is still being finalised.
