The race date for the upcoming Rexona Run 2012 has finally been released! Time to save the date guys! Outdo Yourself at the upcoming Rexona Run 2012 on August 12, 2012 to be held at SM Mall of Asia!

Dear Runners,

Due to the heavy rains, we will be postponing the REXONA RUN 2012 event to SEPTEMBER 23, Sunday still at the Mall of Asia grounds. We feel that due to the current calamity, it would be inappropriate to still push through with the event. We have taken into consideration that a lot of the runners may be living in affected areas, and that our route marshals are part of the AFP so they will be busy with relief operations.

Instead, we will be focusing our efforts on relief operations this weekend, particularly in Marikina. You are very much welcome to participate or help out in any way. More details will be posted soon.

2. Choose to register “Me and Others”
3. Choose “21k Relay”
4. Fill up all required fields
5. On the “Name of your Relay Partner” page, enter info of your partner. Make sure to use the exact registered name of your partner.
6. Create a Relay Team Name and enter on the page
7. On the “Would you like to register another participant or checkout?” – choose “Another”
8. Enter info of the 2nd runner
9. On the “Would you like to register another participant or checkout?” – choose “Checkout”
10. Proceed to payment

  1. @Night Runner, if that is the case, mukhang kakayanin. My mileage in a week is usually around 30k (3 10k runs). Pahinga na lang in between races.

    Although i empathize to those affected by the recent floods (actually our place is one of them), but how come Regent was able to push through while runrio cannot?

  2. Closed na ba ang registration? Bakit wala pa ding official announcement un extended registration given the run was postponed? Whenever I attempt to register online, it will just route me to RunRio Website? Please paki-answer naman po un inquiries ng mga gusto tumakbo tulad ko… Thanks in advance…

  12. LOOKING for SWAP 21K MEN’s RELAY to 21K INDIVIDUAL

    Hello, I have a 21k MEN’s RELAY racekit I am looking to swap it to a 21K INDIVIDUAL category racekit with NO ADDITIONAL FEE(you save P600 if you are really planning to just run half of 21k and bring someone to run the other half). I’ll keep my singlet & the deo(since i used them both already) but the BIB, other SINGLET- LARGE and the other deo is still with me both unused, I’ll exchange them all to (only) your BIB#. You can keep the singlet that came with your. Kumbaga BIB# exchange lang, pero may additional yung ibibigay ko, yung extra singlet at deo. Kasi kung di naman ako makahanap, I’ll run the entire duration. (I can make up an elaborate excuse for doing it hahaha)

    looking to swap to someone who’s giving up his 21k racekit in exchange for a 21k relay.
    My partner will not be able to run(kaya naisipan ko to) but i’d like to run the entire distance(bilang yun naman na ang category ko), rather than look for a relay partner.
    There’s no additional cost to the swap, i’ll give you my 21k Men’s relay bib, the other singlet(LARGE) and deo in exchange for only your 21k individual catbib.

    GU gels suggest taking one 15 mins before the race, and every 45 mins thereafter. So you do your math for your expected finish in your half-mary. =)

    If you have a high-rate matabolism, try consuming one every 30 mins.

    di naman siguro magiging crowded yung transition area kasi di naman magkakapareho ng pacing at speed ang mga tumatakbo. magiging crowded lang kung may kasama pang “photoshoot o pictorials” ang mga magpapalitan sa race track.

    it actually depends

    On my case, I followed Gu’s recommendation by the letter before, which is what Zoot stated. Later on, I adjusted the dosage to 1 before and 1 packet every 10k.

    Elites usually take 2 before and 1 every 10k.

    You also have to consider if you need that much caffeine.

    Now regular Gu or Roctanes. In my experience, Roctanes give the much needed psychological boost over regular Gu. :-p

    wehehehe yan ang gustong marinig ng GU. Honestly, 2 lang ang kailangan mo. Sa distance ka na lang mag base ng dosage hindi sa time. Honestly, hindi naidadan sa gels ang magandang performance… wala pa rin substitute sa training. Saka rio naman ang rexona, siguradong naguumapaw sa sports drinks kaya hindi na gaanong kailangan pa ng dagdag.

    Importante na uminom ng tubig pagkakain ng gel. Hindi pwedeng powerade ang panglunok. Bawal din sabay ang gel at saging, o gel at sportdrink na may carbs. Trobol yan pre rektang portalet tayo nyan :-P

    Iwasan din yung iba ibang brand… Ok lang kung iba ibang flavor, basta isang brand lang. Na try ko na hammer, pero mas gusto ko pa rin ang Gu mandarin.

    may kamahalan ang gels kaya mas makakatipid kung by box ka bumili. Ako sa bike town sa pasong tamo bumibili, 1500 box of 24 … lumalabas 62.50 per pack. Wala pa akong nakikitang mas mura sa 62.50 ang kada gel.

    Kung gusto mo pang makatipid, try mo yung Gu chomps… 1 packete lang ang kailangan dahil halos 2 pack ng regular Gu ang isang pack ng chomps.

    sa calorie count pareho lang ang ordinary gu at roctane… At pareho lang ang dosage. Ang main difference eh yung kanilang “special protein blend” daw … ewan ko kung na justify nila yung presyo… sobra 100 plus na ang roctane sa mga mall … di bale na

    Pero nagbibigay ng “psychological boost” ang roctane… well, isipin mo na lang na rocket fuel ang kinakain mo :-) Ang roctane usually sa 30km at sa 40km ko kinakain… heheh para sa much needed na “mental” boost. Pero pareho lang kahit ordinary na gu.

    malaking issue din ang caffeine. Actually sa full, 6 ang dala kong gels. 2 before, 1 kada 10k … 2 doon walang caffeine (usually roctane na pineapple or lemon lime na ordinary) . Kung sobrang caffeine, talagang nangingig ako kahit na mataas na ang tolerance ko sa caffeine. Kung maka 4 na mandarin gels na ako, kahit hanggang hapon ramdam ko pa rin effects nito.

    Pag ultra naman usually on demand na ako kumakain. Lumalabas nga kada 15 to 20km. Hirap kaya ng maraming dala saka wala naman pressure gaano sa oras.

    Meron din mga x2 caffeine na flavor, like espresso ata yon… sobra na yon pare. Unless siguro na caffeine addict talaga ang systema mo.

  20. Hi Mark… Bago lang me sa larangan ng running. I started running way back May 2011. Nakapag FM na din ako last MILO marathon, pero hindi ko pa nasubukan gumamit ng energy gel. Sa tingin mo, mag improve kaya performance ko just in case mag try ako gumamit during long races? Thanks in advance for the advise. Stay fit and keep on running!

  21. sana iupdate ung race map..ilagay ung hydration booth and if possible ma post na dn nla ung mga routes na pdeng daanan ng sasakyan papunta sa MOA..ang hirap ng pasikot sikot.. :D

    yung gels sa akin pangkontra gutom. Kasi ako yung tipong nanghihina kung gutom hehehe

    Eto lang ang sa experience ko kasi, kung naubusan ka ng energy (ie nagutom) gagawin ng katawan mong i-convert yung protein mo sa energy kasi wala na talagang supply eh… parang ganoon ang nangyayari tapos basta ang sa akin pag humihinga ako, nakaka amoy ako ng ammonia.

    Ang resulta noon, pagkatapos ng race, mas matagal mag heal ako. Isa pa, kung manghina ka rin, yung core muscles (abs at sa likod), mag disengage. Ang mangyayari hindi na maganda form mo at parang naka slouch ka. Side effect noon, babagal at mas mataas ang chance sa side stitch

    Sa experience ko lang yan ah, ganyan kasi nahahalata ko kung nang hina ako

    Kung first time mo pa lang mag gels kailangan mo munang testingin sa training runs. Oo mahal sya pero kasi baka yung gel na mabili mo hindi match sa sikmura mo (mad dash to nearest portalet !)

    Pero hindi nabibili ng gels ang performance, sumosuporta lang sya at wala pa rin papalit sa training. Kung mag cramps ang paa mo, talagang mag-cramps sya. Kung mahina cardio mo, talagang hihingalin ka.

    Murang version ng gels ? saging sa short races, samahan ng itlog pag mag ultra o mahahabang training runs.

    Eto mga calorie count ng mga pwede mong kaining habang tumatakbo

    powerade 15 calories per 100mL
    Gu 100 calories / pack
    Banana ~ 172 calories (yung malaking dole – cavendish)

    Many thanks for the detailed information. I will try energy gels for my training especially during my long runs. You’re right, there’s no substitute pa din sa proper training, diet and perseverance.

  26. Tama si Mark! 4:45am is just right for 21-k gun start. Pag maganda ang training/preparation ng katawan then on or before 7am ay tapos na yung run. Pero pag nagmamagaling lang then im sure aabutin ka ng 8am bago matapos.
