  1. If they follow the route that’s posted here, the 21K and 10K routes are at around 2-3K too long. Try measuring it in Google Earth. I did the 21K at the Milo Marathon finals last December… the route is pretty much the same now except it goes to EDSA for a bit, extending the distance significantly.

  2. Just read Milo Runners Handbook, meron nga medal sa 21K and 42K finisher, and Finisher Shirt para sa 42K.

  3. Registered last week for 21K at BGC Riovana but puro large sizes na lang singlet (XXL up). But pwede daw ipapalit if magkaroon ng singlet.

Also, when I went there last July 12 nagkaubusan ng smaller sizes ng singlet. So I registered na din kahit malaki singlet ko kesa maubusan ng slot.

  4. @PF: thanks for posting the milo marathon manila elimination details for our reference.

@Mike: i believe you may had miscalculated it considering that this is an AIMS/IAAF-certified race.

just wondering why registration problems remain such as non-availability of singlet sizes . . ?

  5. iamnoel: You don’t have to just take my word for it… Compare with the 10K and 21K routes used in 2011:
    https://www.pinoyfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/milo-10k-2011.jpg
    https://www.pinoyfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/milo-21k-2011.jpg

It’s exactly the same route this year except for a 1.8K detour towards EDSA (which should be intended only for 42K). Going both ways, that extends the route by more than 3K, so the route for 10K and 21K is way longer than it should be.

  6. If Mike is right, then this is very serious especially for the 21K as it is used as a qualifying distance for the finals in December. 2-3km off the Half marathon can easily translate to 10-20min off one’s time!

  7. another big event for sure…
but according sa mga nag registered na eh may konting problema about sa mga sizes ng singlet… medyo maaga pa naman at imsure maayos din yun… :-)

  9. @iamnoel big event means big turnout of people who wants to register…which means supplies of singlets would ran out fast…and base on experience talagang runners are small, medium, and large built kaya yun ang madaling maubos.

I saw one person registered 10 people last June 12…tipong isang team na yun ah. I know that some schools let their students athletes compete in this marathon…so tiyagan lang yan.

  10. Singlet sizes is no new problem. Just wondering why they created big sizes eh alam naman nila mas maraming small and medium-size runners…

Last year’s elimination was great… I ran 10k… now planning to have my 21k… problem is BIB is running out… di rin nila masabi kung kelan may available… but hopefully mag reopen pa…

think last year’s registration was way better then this year!

  11. @mike:

ok noted and if that is the case then runrio must make the necessary adjustments considering that reputation of this race as a premier running event since 1974.

  12. @lonerunner No clue but maybe they want to cater to all sizes…it’s easier to compensate if masyadong malaki ang singlet kesa masyadong maliit.

Anyway, I have XXL and I only wear Medium so if talagang di ko mapalitan…it’s not really a big deal for me. I can still run with a loose singlet. Ang objective ko talaga is to run in this marathon every year. Tyagain na lang ng iba if talagang they prefer smaller size singlet. Or register online which I personally don’t like doing.

  13. @rodeo

Siguro… I also dont have problems with the singlet it’s just that, I noticed, most of the runners are concern with the sizes… or siguro talagang nagkakaubusan.

Anyway, you’re consistent 21k runner?! Upgrade into full marathon if that’s the case.

Hope 21k slots will be available this week.

  14. we registered online and didn’t have any hassle with singlet size..will only cost Php200 more for delivery of race packet;-)

  15. We got our desired singlet sizes when we registered at Toby’s-Trinoma last June 13. At that time marami pang Large at nagiisa nalang ang Medium.

Online registration is OK, its just that I don’t want to shell out additional P200, buti nalang may magagandang loob na nagpopost somewhere tungkol sa availability ng singlets. Sana makayanan ko ang time limit at cut-off time.

See you all at MOA on July 29!

  16. i have no issue about the singlet size whatsoever as im not wearing.

i will be using my reliable dri-fit shirt that is chalf-free.

  17. its me!

  18. @iamnoel Runners are required to wear the singlet during the race or the organizers will not let you run.

    It’s on the runner’s handbook page 12.

  19. @iamnoel Runners are required to wear the singlet during the race or the organizers will not let you run.

    It’s on the runner’s handbook page 12.

  20. @lonerunner I dont have enough time to train for a full mary. I’m still trying to build speed since I have the endurance na for 21K.

  21. @rodeo:

thank you for the information but let me share my actual milo experience.

i had been joining milo since 2009 and never wore its singlet due to size issues. the no singlet/no run rule was never implemented at all. this will proven again on race date (july 29).

  22. @rodeo:

Yeah iamnoel is right! Some runners don’t usually wear the Milo singlet but still can run during the event. That as well my observation unless organizer this year will be strictly implementing those that were written on the handbook. But I doubt it.

As per mentioned on #30 comment, your objective is to run on this event every year, since when you started joining Milo Marathon?! I guess you can do full mary if you’ve been joining this event since the previous years :)

  23. but let me add that although i never wear the milo singlet, i never wear a competing race singlet to show respect.

i wear a plain colored singlet without those flashing brand names or product logos.

  24. I just registered for my 1st full mary. Eto na talaga. Training started yesterday. Will train again today.

I couldn’t care less if I reach the 6 hour cut-off time. I couldn’t care less if I wouldn’t be able to get a medal and a finisher’s shirt (it would be awesome though)but I will finish this race. Even if they start packing, you will see my gorgeous face at that darn finish line…Even if they packed the finish line as well. I will not ride that transpo vehicle.

This race is so important to me. The support would mean a lot.

  25. @batabatuta:

that is what we call against all odds. go for it and see you at the finish line. it is better to finish slow than to be a DNF. good luck!

  26. @batabatuta..hindi ka nagiisa, first time ko rin..di ko lam kung paano ko siya tatapusin..pero tatapusin ko..see you at the finish line..Good Luck po sa atin..

  27. @iamnoel It’s so nice to know people would disregard rules as simple as this because history shows it is not strictly enforced.

Anyway, let me tell you my actual milo experience… I follow the rules. Rules have purpose. And I’m pretty sure one of those purpose is for safety and security.

  28. @lonerunner I started joining Milo 5 years ago…but doing half for 2 years only.

And most of my 21K event, I’m exhausted as hell. Kaya I’m not confident right now that I can run a full mary given my training routine.

I can run my first full marathon next year.

  29. @rodeo:

ok good for you but let others have it their own way. not wearing the singlet does not make a runner a bad person. on race day you will notice that the singlet rule is not an issue at all.

  31. i just got my 42k race kit at trinoma.
im so excited coz it will be my first full marathon.

but there’s a problem, wat’s the proper training if ur running for 42k for the first time…

    tnx

  33. @torotoott
:) if ever man di nila kaya ang gagamitin ko na lang ay yung last year na singlet hehehe atleast milo singelt pa din :)

  34. at sana medyo ibahin naman nila yung design or klase nung singlet para naman di lang year of ang napapalitan nang sa ganun taon taon iba ibang klase ang milo singlet natin hehehe

  35. @rodeo:

Good for you that you’re confident now to run for the half marathon! Goodluck buddy! Kaya mo yan! Ika nga ng Milo :)

  36. @Jujjay:

Hey, how’d you know that all distances and singlet sizes are available sa Toby’s MOA?! Were you able to call Toby’s MOA?!

  37. @lonerunner nag reg ako kahapon 5pm then i asked kung meron pang 42k. Meron daw avail for all distances then i asked sa sizes lahat din daw meron pero kkadating lang ng stocks. Puro boxes nga ng singlet when i got there pero the best pa rin to call. :)

  38. Hi to all pro Runners, can i ask some advice? I am planning for a half mary, kaso eto pa lang ang first time ko. Madalas kasi pang 3k,5K,6K lang ang tinatakbo ko. but By training naman, i ran 7k to 8K only.

  39. @amateurmark – parehas lang tayo naka 4 na ako ng 3k then jump to 10k then 21k ngayon sa milo as long as walang sakit sa tuhod mo go lang kaya mo yan!!!

  41. @venerun thanks, as of now, masakit pa tuhod ko, maga haha! pero tumatakbo pa rin ako! sana hindi ako damputin ng sasakyan at i depot ,! gusto ko ma qualified sa finals. 2.5hours ang cut off

  43. @amateurmark: pakibasa muli yong Milo Handbook. To be able to qualify in the 42K finals sa Dec9, kelangan mo ring tumakbo ng 42K sa Manila Eliminations, yong cut-off time and depende sa age bracket. In which case, meron kang 2 options to qualify sa Dec9 42K finals.

First, you have to finish the 21K in 1:15 and second, finish the 21K before the cut-off time depending on your age bracket.

    Hope am correct. Hehehe…

  44. @Jujjay:

Thanks for the info… appreciate it buddy! Goodluck on the run! Keep running :)

Anyone who knows the contact # of Toby’s MOA?! Thanks in advance guys!

  45. The purpose or running a race is to promote a health lifestyle. Forcing yourself to finish a distance that you didn’t train for will only do more harm than good. I have respect for people who train enough before the race. People who run the full mary without training & just for the sake of finishing it are show-offs (para may pampayabang sa facebook)

And..If you won’t obey the marshals that will pick you up then you better just run on your own.

  46. @Trunks, thank u so much!One more Q na lang.
Lets say I’ll take 21K manila elimination, dapat ba in 1.5Hours ma meet ko ung first 10KM at sa loob ng 2.5 hours dapat nasa finish line na ako? thank u Trunks

  48. @amateurmark,

I think you are mistaing “cutoff time” with “qualifying times.”

To qualify for the finals, you have to meet the qualifying times. Assuming you are male within the ages of 18-34, you have to finish the 21K in 1 hour 30 minutes.

The cutoff time of 2.5 hours for the 21K means that you’ll be asked to leave the course if you aren’t done in 2.5 hours.

  49. @solo runner comment 82

as quoted “The cutoff time of 2.5 hours for the 21K means that you’ll be asked to leave the course if you aren’t done in 2.5 hours.”

cutoff to be named as finisher, is 2:30 …. ok lang lumagpas, dahil sa provinces (as well as manila) hindi ka naman ma sweep off sa course.

  50. Registered yesterday at Riovana BGC and got an XS singlet! The material of the singlet is really nice, better than last year.

  51. @mark: ang pagkakaintindi ko e paglumagpas ka sa cut-off time di ka na considered as finisher, ergo, you will not receive a medal, but am not sure about the lootbag.

  52. thread discussions is warming up again so please let me offer my unsolicited guidance based on my 4-years of actual milo experience.

no singlet/no run rule was never implemented since time immemorial and you can wear your preferred singlet. milo wants us to wear their singlet but in case you are not wearing it you will not be barred from joining.

cut-off sweepers was never implemented since time immemorial and was only an option for runner if they want to be sweep. sweepers will ask runners along the route after the cut-off time if they want to take the service vehicle but if a runner want to continue then he can do so.

  53. @Solo Runner #82: I think amateurmark is referring to the time limit in the 21K, i.e., 1:30 for the first 10K. Am not sure though if this applies only to provincial legs.

  55. My piece of advice to those who are planning to not wear their singlet…

Just bring the singlet just in case. I reckon this rule is there to spot bandits easily and of course to promote their product. Let us at least give the guys of Milo that.

Anyway, the singlet material is actually good (at least for 10K and up).

  56. @iamnoel and @rodeo

tsaka malapit na event ,kelangan na nating mag practice/train para pagdating ng actual race nde tayo nabibigla sa pagkahingal tsaka etong milo race yung race na may cut-off time.. consider it as a challenge.

  59. @amateurmark hmm.. why dont u try to run muna on other 21km runs before Milo? asses first if you can run na papasok sa cut off sa milo 21km which is 2hours 30mins :) and yes tama si trunks about the “qualifyers” stuffs.. better read the handbook first. and yes, sa 21km elims: in 10km til 1hour 30mins lang pwede mag run…

@filipinabeauty_weng pwede po yang 1kg Milo

**ulitin ko lang: available na registration ulit for all distances as well as singlet sizes sa Toby’s MOA and Riovana BGC

  60. I guess those who registered for 21K received their handbooks… guys kindly read and understand what has been written there so that posts here will not be misleading :) That will create confusion to other runners.

We are here to help everyone and not to bash each other.

A runner knows the rules of the run! Respect begets respect.

    Just saying! Good vibes everyone!
