DZMM TAKBO PARA SA KARUNUNGAN SETS OFF ON MARCH 13 – PRESS RELEASE

DZMM, the country’s leading AM radio station and cable news channel, is calling on professional and amateur runners, students, and running enthusiasts to participate in “DZMM Takbo Para Sa Karunungan,” a fun run for the benefit of 25 young scholars that will happen on March 13, 5am at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Runners may join the 3km, 5km, 10km race categories and the special 25km run in honor of DZMM’s 25th anniversary, for a chance to win cash prizes and trophies.

For 11 years, DZMM has organized the yearly “DZMM Takbo Para sa Kalikasan” to support campaigns for the environment but this year, DZMM will dedicate the race to 25 deserving incoming grade 1 students from different parts of Metro Manila, including areas that were devastated by Typhoon Ondoy.

Through the help of the Department and Social Welfare and Development and in cooperation with the ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service, DZMM hopes to spark interest in learning among the chosen scholars by shouldering their day-to-day school expenses.

“Through the on-going DZMM TLC (Teaching Learning Caring) clinic-on-wheels and classroom-on-wheels project, we have been able to help communities hit by Typhoon Ondoy get their lives back on track with free medical check-ups and learning sessions for children. But we still hope to create a greater and longer impact in people’s lives by helping their kids get into school through DZMM Takbo Para Sa Karunungan,” ABS-CBN Head for Manila Radio Peter Musngi said.

Aside from a chance to help a worthy cause, participants of the fun run are also guaranteed a great time as DZMM is lining up performances, raffle draws, and special awards for the runners. To register, visit www.dzmm.com.ph or call the secretariat at 4152272 local 5674, 5641, 5632, 5603, and 5638. Registration fee is P300 per person and P200 for students.

  3. Epic fail yung experience ko sa race “DZMM Takbo para sa Karunungan”… di bike-commuter friendly organizer…ang lawak at ang luwang ng baggage storage, di tumatanggap ng bike…di raw pwede. went to the stage where the Mc’s are to tell my predicament…Ms. Winnie Cordero, Mr. Ariel Oreta(was out that time)atbp and some bading made a fool out of me, “run race daw yun at bakit bike daw dala ko”, .i was humiliated napag-tawanan pa ako, very hurtful yung mga jokes nya… Nagpintig tainga ko…sinabi ko ng mahinahon sa microphone, yung race nyo di po “bike-commuter” friendly. I use the bike to commute.

  4. HANGANG NGAYON WALA PANG RESULT…..!!!! MERON BA KAMING AASAHAN O WALA???? SANA SABIHIN NA NINYO AGAD PARA HINDI NA KAMI ANTAY NANG ANTAY……
